I really hope this turns into a full podcast, I'm currently a senior in high school and I've put the last two years into studying art from you, old masters, and current masters trying to find my solution to art. This podcast is like be liquid oxygen fueling artists motivation. ( My PFP is not my art)
I feel at the very least interns should be paid something. Doesn’t have to be professional level pay and It can be a 6 month interview. Interns are still providing a service. I personally went through a 7 month period as a contract worker to get my job. I was doing basically the same jobs the interns were doing. I believe this video brings up some good points.
over here in the uk its called "running" and its cheap abusive work and you are thrown out after a few months due to contracts. The uni considers this a win as you are considered a success story. When I was younger (10 plus years ago)! it was the best/only way in - now you have to have a degree - and expect to be fired a month/2 in. Its heart breaking.
Thats what internship is. They try you out without obligations and you get a taste of what goes on. Then if they like you then they will keep you on. Yes its true that colleges use it as a bragging point but honestly it does ultimately come down to you.
@@thedeafgenius I hear you but it was a tax ploy. They will be rid of regardless of how good they are, they also normally dont do any artistic work, just cleaner tasks.
@@mugwart99 Depends on the company, the department, and who's running it. The best kind of internship IMHO is reaching out to one of your favorite artist and ask if you can assist them!
@@mugwart99 that sucks, but ye the good thing nowadays, theres a ton of internships with most companies in the UK that will pay you a salary. But ye running jobs arent that great
All I heard in the beginning is "we love using interns and not paying them". Like I'm sorry I need to eat NOW while I'm still in school. Especially if my internship is 40 hours a week or something like that. Experience is not everything anymore and the new generation would like to make money instead of being exploited by the already successful industries/companies.
already saw this episode but im just now left wondering: why would Stan turn down the opportunity to teach gesture to pixar artists?? that seems like an awesome thing to do! love y'all miss y'all!!
Teaching at Pixar is an awesome thing to do, but teaching 40 people at pixar is clearly a step down to what he is doing now, probably both in money and in how many students he is helping. Also he just said how when he was younger he didn't want to have a job where we would come in everyday, and maybe that still applies. And even if all those points are false, it wouldn't really make sense for Stan to give up on his 2 million subscribers to go teach 40 people, it doesn't line up with his career. It would be like a knee doctor treating cavities. Further proving my point, Stan's response to the offer was "What!?? NO!" His tone seems to indicate that he taking the Pixar job would be a step down from the already great job he has.
good thing that you have fillers but you might want to plan/spread the episodes a bit more so that there is not such a huge gap during the break. looking forward to your 2021 content.
'Cos how are you going to take advantage of your entitled privilege if you can't work for free for long enough to starve out the impoverished competition? Having said that I did my internship while homeless, luckily they offered me a job after two weeks...I can't see that being a good plan though.
The number 1 issue with internships is that most art students at accredited art colleges is the fact that they don't take the advantage of the fact they have big career service offices. They literally have guest speakers and artists every week from all those companies. The average art student is lazy and doesn't socialize. Art schools are where all the weird kids from high school end up at. They don't take advantage of their college experience to get out and socialize. Also very few students are talented as well.
If you were modeling armor for different races it would have been for player races, in which case it would have been Ogres, not orcs in EverQuest. Yes I am a nerd.
At commissions, patreons, and such... yeah depending on how big you put the price tag you'll get quite some extra money although depending on your artistic passion it might backfire psychologically so at least personally i dont feel i need to nor want to, but whatever sits you right.

When you go to college....make the career center your main focus from the first day or you will regret it.

I think the Proko courses are fantastic but an animator working at Pixar probably has more to teach to Proko than the other way around.
He runs his own business running his online school, which I'm assuming takes up most of his time. The timing of the offer probably didn't line up.

Why does the Apple Podcast no longer show new episodes after the Dec 15, 2020 Podcast?

When will season 3 start coming out?
In april
@@xmaniaccc1 Thanks!
Too long a wait :(
