    I live in a small town, my neighbor always used to warmup his diesel car in the morning and fumes would get straight into our open window. It lasted for years. Now he got an electric vehicle and what a blessing, I can't even hear when he starts his car! 🙂😀

    • @DutchmanSeb
      @DutchmanSeb  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, it is a blessing indeed. I too have many ICE sports cars and my neighbours complain when I start them early in the morning on a Saturday to go to the track cause they are noisy and wake up their kids. They too are glad I drive a daily Tesla now 😄

    hi, nice review. Did you compare the consumption between the new and the old RWD?

    • @DutchmanSeb
      @DutchmanSeb  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Yossko, I actually did not do a comparison on consumption, but considering the battery and the electric motors are the same, these should be on par, with the lower drag coefficient in the Highland model, at highway speeds, you should experience less drag, giving you a better consumption and that's why it also has a longer stated range.

    And what about the audio setup? Is it ok-ish? I had test driven long range with premium interior as the lfp rwd was already taken, but I wanted to know if it's really such a massive difference or should I just assume 'its just a car stereo' and be ok with it?

    • @DutchmanSeb
      @DutchmanSeb  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      I have the non premium sound system and to be honest it's better than any other sound system I've ever tested including fancy Bang & Olufsen or Bowers & Wilkons and I've tested A LOT of cars over the year's. My wife often plays her music at 11 in our RWD Model 3 and she says it's the best speakers she's ever had in her cars too. I would love to have the AWD with the premium interior just cause of the extra subwoofers, but you honestly don't need it. This new setup however is levels above the previous version, it's crystal clear quality and nice deep base.

    Few questions:
    1 - How do the default 18'' rims look like without the covers together with the ultra red colorway?
    2 - In the video you've said that you could adjust the power of the regenerative breaking. I thought Tesla changed this making you not able to adjust this? I for one prefer less regenerative braking in EVs.
    3 - Can you still use the Tesla app to look through the camera's on the car?
    4 - Is the ambient lighting annoying in daylight driving? I've heard its really visible during daytime effectively cutting the front window in half, but from your video it seems over exaggerated?

    • @DutchmanSeb
      @DutchmanSeb  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey there, here's the answers:
      1 - check out my comparison video review, I remove the wheel caps to show you what the wheels look like underneath.
      2 - Correct, this feature was removed by Tesla some time ago already, you have 3 options now. Roll (coast), stop (full regen) and creep (works like a regular automatic ICE with some regen).
      3 - Yes, of course. Sentry mode recently had an update now which allows you to look through all 8 cameras via the mobile app.
      4 - I could hardly even notice the ambient lighting in daylight, so that is BS.

I don't have a measuring device, but I did see on Matt Watson's Carwow he used an app on his phone and there was a difference of around 5db. Also due to TH-cam, I can't play music otherwise I get copyright strikes, so not sure how to demonstrate the sound system, but it is considerably better and more clarity with better base.

      @@David_Polak You still get the chimes pinging shown at 21:50 to estimate the distance, I will admit it's a bit overly sensitive, like for example if your bumper protrudes over the curb it warns you as if you're going to hit something even though your bumper clearance is high enough, I find the side curb detection seriously accurate from the side repeaters, also cause of the added blind spot camera angles while parking make it super easy to avoid curb rash, even my wife manages.

      No regen on a Tesla is pointless because the vehicle doesn't do blended braking. Meaning the brake pedal ONLY activates the friction brakes. Other manufacturers have the brake pedal do both so you can still "coast" and slow down with re-gen using the brake pedal.

    • @DutchmanSeb
      @DutchmanSeb  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@zoltrix7779 correct, the friction brake is as you say blended when you release the accelerator pedal. The brake pedal does activate the friction brakes, but there is also regen as well. They have removed the option to turn off regen, so it is always there now.

      Depends entirely on your daily commute and what your needs are for a car. I drive 52km each way to work each day, a total of 102km. So, I charge at work and at home once every 4 days. On the weekends we go out for walks with the dogs and do around an hours drive each way somewhere nice, I never need to stop to charge. Occasionally we go away for a long weekend, some 4 hours drive, we charge at our destination or use the Tesla Supercharger along the way to top up for 15-20min to make it home again. 95% of my charging is at home, during off peak hours and it costs me around €120 a month to drive 3,500km. • @DutchmanSeb
      @DutchmanSeb  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Waleed, the ride is no different in terms of suspension and ride feel. The difference is the AWD has a larger battery pack with a front electric motor in addition to the rear motor, thus All Wheel Drive, which gives you more performance in terms of faster acceleration and cornering handling due to the torque vectoring where it distributes more power to the inside wheels in a turn to prevent understeer. The range increase you can see on Tesla's website states in WLTP in Europe or in EPA rating in the US. I believe there is also a different battery chemistry in the long range versions, as the standard RWD has an LFP chemistry which you can charge to 100% all the time, which also allows you to have more usable range.

      @@waleedabdulrab8779 Hey Waleed, it's hard to say for the US market, as Tesla have yet to launch it in the US, so there's no guarantee it will be the same battery chemistry either. My best guess is that Tesla will upgrade their Fremont Model 3 production line to launch the Highland to NA, which means they will most likely be getting batteries from their Giga Nevada plant supplied by Panasonic in the form of their 2170 cells or they might even have ramped up the 4680 cells by then to support this release, so there are a lot of unknowns. These European models come from the Shanghai giga factory which uses the LG Chem LFP battery chemistry, which means you should charge them regularly to 100%, unlike the chemistry in NA with the cobalt and nickel content that only like to be charged to 80%. Here the Long range AWD is advertised with 629km which is equivalent to 393mi of range, I know the EPA ratings are slightly less conservative, so they'll probably be around 400mi. The RWD is advertised here as having 513km which is around 320mi. So 80% of 400mi in the long range would actually be 320mi of daily usable range, of course you can charge to 100% on the long range, they just don't recommend this on a daily basis, so all in all the Long range would still be the better choice if you can afford the increased price differences.

Enhance Auto pilot just means on highways the car will make auto lane changes, so you don't need to use the stalks for indicating. Honestly you don't need USS and there are 3 front facing cameras, I think you are referring to the radar? Not enough improvements and the redesign just looks strange. Looks like the front and rear bumpers were photoshopped onto a 2023 Model 3. I'm waiting for a proper resdesign that includes new battery pack and motors. 800v battery pack and 48v accessories like Cybertruck.

      You might be waiting a long time then. That's not going to happen to this platform. Also they say 50% of this car is new, so underneath a lot has changed, the most noticeable is the ride comfort and sound insulation. The 1000v powertrain launched into the Semi truck will not be trickling it's way down to small sedans. There may be an 800v architecture in the Cybertruck, but that is not confirmed, also the 48v accessories does not make any difference to the user, only uses thinner wires, so saves some weight on cable management. If you keep waiting for the next best thing, you'll miss driving the current best thing. We're never buying any other car again.

    Yet another review avoiding the only remaining question everybody has. Yes, we know it is nice and improved in almost every way. And no stalks. The only thing Tesla is keeping quiet about that all reviewers have easy access to. All of them ignore it, so I feel slightly bad complaining under this lovely man's video, but I guess the algorithm likes it, so it's all good. One of the major problems with the old model 3 has presumably been redesigned and every reviewer is completely clueless about it, so it looks like I will just have to find a Tesla showroom, borrow a vehicle and find out myself. What has happened with the cabin air filter situation? Do they still get full of wet leaves that start to smell in the wrong conditions? Does it have high capacity hepa filters or similar filters as before? Bioweapon defense mode? Do you have to sign an agreement not to talk about it?

    • @DutchmanSeb
      @DutchmanSeb  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sorry I never came across this issue before, nor is there any information around this cabin filter you mentioned. If you know more information, I'd love to learn about it and make a new video to bring awareness. We don't sign anything not to talk about issues. I personally own a Model 3 and I keep my car clear of leaves everyday here in autumn, something I also do to my 4 other cara too (90's JDM's) and something you should do regularly on any car anyways as part of cleaning. So not sure this issue is only related to the Model 3, since I have leaves in my cabin filters in all my cars. There's no mention of any HEPA filters on the website, also there was no bioweapon defense mode in the A/C menu.

    • @geirmyrvagnes8718
      @geirmyrvagnes8718 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DutchmanSeb Thanks! The issue on the original model 3 is that under the grille you can see when you open the hood, there is a funnel guiding the air down to the cabin air filters. This funnel can collect leaves. If some drops of water enters, it can drip out the bottom. But if more water comes in (heavy rain or car wash) the water will take the leaves and debris and slosh it straight onto the back of the cabin air filters. Soggy air filters are bad. Adam Davenport has a video that shows this. Model Y has a different design. The new model 3 probably has yet another different design, but as you see, Tesla does not talk about it. So a comparison of those three designs would be interesting for a few car nerds. :)

      Your comment about the BYD intregued me, so I had a quick look on EV database for the specs and had a look at the features etc for the new Model 3 vs the BYD Seal and whilst the BYD seems like a good car, the new Tesla does seem to have the edge.
      The Tesla:
      - costs nearly £6k less
      - has very similar range 344 miles WLTP vs 354 miles for BYD and similar acceleration 6.1 sec 0-60 vs 5.9 for BYD, Tesla slightly higher top speed at 125mph vs 112mph for BYD
      - is much more efficient (acheives range with 60kWh pack vs 84kWh for BYD)
      - charges much faster (27 mins 10-80% vs 38 mins for BYD)
      - has more rear storage 594L vs 400L for BYD and a bigger frunk
      - has heated and ventilated front seats and heated rear seats, vs just heated front seats in BYD
      - has rear passenger screen for climate controls and entertainment
      - has access to all Tesla superchargers
      - has better safety scores in all the NCAP tests
      - better software (somewhat subjective but most people agree on this)
      The BYD has strong points too, dont get me wrong - indicator stalks might be on the wrong side, but at least it has them and although the new Tesla looks much better than before, some will prefer this. Also the parking sensors and rain sensors actually work properly on the BYD! Plus I suspect that BYD will get more real world range, although with the slower charging the Tesla is still probably a better road tripper so maybe this nets out.
      But for £6k more than the Tesla, given all the ways the Tesla is better, I'm just not sure i could justify getting one. Will need to test drive them both back to back.
