I love how they all have totally different energies they bring. Tony's playing is joyful yet his expression says 'this is serious business this bluegrass stuff.' Sam Bush (Mandolin) is super animated. And the bassist's smile. LOVE THIS RECORDING I've watched it probably 23 times this week since a friend showed it to me.
@@roblinxweiler9951it’s amazing Tony plays so effortlessly, absolutely one of the best players ever! If I could play 1/10 as good as him one day I’d be happy I’ve played guitar for 10years went though few rough years didn’t play getting back into playing but I’ve never felt like such a beginner until I started learning bluegrass. Everyone this bluegrass is easy cause it’s only a few chords, it’s the phrasing and rhythm that’s tricky.
I remember when Mark o'Conner was 15 and eating up a flattop guitar... won the grand nationals a couple years in a row ... before he grabs a fiddle and did the same.. it's a shame that he doesn't put more time on the guitar.... He could've been the next Tony Rice.. He was that good at 15..
Aha! Ok, now i see how he's playing it at that tempo,,, he cuts out some of the melody notes!! I was trying to actually play it the right way at that tempo and its way harder! His way is much easier.
In Ireland we call this "The Jolly Begger Man" .. lovely tune :)
It's because it's a fiddle tune to which words have been added. I play this as "Red Haired Boy" and sing it as "Beggar Man" :)
Played this on instagram and uploaded for a St. Paddy's tune for both sides of the pond!!
Is this true?? If so, thanks for that tidbit...it's the stuff that keeps us all connected, by fiddle tunes!
Talk about an all star line up, outstanding 😀👍👍👍👍👍✌️
Doesn't get any better than this. We miss you, Tony !!!
Bluegrass is the death metal of country.

The one thing they all have in common: they make it look SO easy. In the words of the great Dan Hicks "it's not. It's not easy." :-)

The Little Beggarman is an Irish song that uses this melody. Lovely! Look up Tommie Makem RIP.
And Jerry Douglas on dobro and Mark O'Connor on fiddle. All-star lineup!
And Sam Bush on mandolin
Who is on bass?
Mark Schatz …
Just fabulous. RIP Tony
Really enjoyed the jam. Love Tony’s up the neck version
Flat picking is one thing. TR’s rhythm playing is a whole other level. Incredible all around.
I can't express the joy this brings me
Oh to have been there to see and listen to that all-star line-up. The best at what they do.
Learned this on mandolin a couple of years ago and has never left my brain
A recording that fondles my soul...
Oh I loved this. I slowed my version down I uploaded it tonight thinking I had it too fast. Very nice guys well done. Beautiful.
Love Tony rice in the suit and everyone else in their PJs. Dude was the symbol of class and professionalism
I'm still cryin' ...
This performance is so good I didn't even notice the lack of banjo.
If JD would have been in this line up would of possible been the best 6 line up in bluegrass history!
Super clean, wow!
This is about as all-star as a Bluegrass group could get!
So good. If you viewers haven't seen what The String Cheese Incident did with this song, check out their song: Valley of the Jig
Rockers think they can shred , hm ok, just listen !!!!
I can play that tune on guitar just as good as Tony. As long as its 1/4 the speed.
Hardee har har
tough to believe xD
Lol me too bud!
I LOVE THIS!!!..
I guess my question is what the video editor has against Jerry Douglas and/or dobros.

Super!
Jerry is the men!!!
How many men is he?
that's Sam bush on mando right?
Yup. The Emeritus Mayor of Telluride himself. Sam is a master himself.
In danger of catching fire here...
Jerry looks about 16 here
I like this but will leave the like count at 555 seems a cool number.

Great musitipn
What year is this?

Tony rice plays like a duck. Head and face still as can be, all the action is below the water. Complete opposite of Billy Strings.
I always mix up the mandolin with the ukulele. Which one is that?
It's the one next to the bagpipes.
Manolin
Mandolin* derp
Its the trumpet
Im not going to answer you
Dobro player have gas that day or what? Lol... .way outta frame
Jerry Douglas. The best ever.

These guys wish they were as good as Jay Z and Byonce
LOL!!
They wish they made the money. That's for sure.
