Super-cool to arrange it in the non-traditional A-chord position. The open ringing sus2, mixo7, and low tonic make for a completely different sonority. Thanks for teaching me something new!
Man, TH-cam has brought me here a few times recently, on all occasions there I am - scrambling to close browser tabs to find out where that wicked sweet playing is coming from... glad to find this inspirational player.
Got to be some of the cleanest picking out there. I love this cover and I love the fact that you're trying to keep the sounds of the great Norman Blake going. Thank you very much!
I absolutely love this tune. Have since the very first time I heard it! Beautiful version. Love this old tune more so now than ever. Thank you so very much!
such a great avenue to vent through. God bless. I got a Tv45. Gibson say it best. Bloody lovely playing. The framework tune of many guitar heroes past and present, amazing tune, I'm grateful
I do enjoy how you let the song be the song. I enjoy an aggressive hard charging version also, but this has that soulful flavor that many “musicians” lack. Without trying to over do it.
What so many other people on this page are saying, I say too...a very sweet and beautiful rendition done with soul a plenty ....plus that Gibson sounds damn fine as well!!!
He makes it look pretty easy. A sure sign of someone who is really good at what they do! Mr Minner has been around quite a while. He has played in Tim McGraw's band for a couple of decades. Wow. And I am loving all this solo guitar work he is doing!! (Great album, his "Solo"!)
Very nice Bob your playing and the sound of that guitar are awesome. Oh and I still have that pick you gave me in 2018 at St Louis Flatpick. I can’t wear it out. Thanks.
I really love your version and am working hard to learn it. I happened to start the B- part first chord with the bass note on the B on the A-string, second fret, instead of E on the D-string. Sounded great, so I keep it like that on the second take around. Play it on my Martin DSS-17, not unlike the J-45 in sound and looks😀👍
Hi Bob, I love your new album and have really enjoyed your interviews with FJ - but this takes the cake, such a soulful rendition played on a beautiful instrument, thank you.
The great thing about one talented person playing a good guitar can take a song most us us thought has been played every way possible and 'presto' here's a fresh new take.
If you could only take one 45 on a trip across the country to play in a variety of musical situations… and it had to be a j-45 acoustic.. which one would you take? Collings or Gibson?… also thank you for your videos.. it inspires my own playing!! Thank you!
A really great job there. Unfortunately, your capo was crooked so we’re going to have to disqualify you. Let that be a lesson… Once again a really terrific version thank you so much.
I’m developing a theory that red heads play this song best. Judging by your beard I am assuming you don’t disprove my theory. Love your version of this song.

That guitar is unbelievable! 1943...looks brand new and sounds great!
Okay, I think I’ve run across the most beautiful and creative version of Red Haired Boy. So nice brotha!
Can't get enough of this one!
Got to be some of the cleanest picking out there. I love this cover and I love the fact that you're trying to keep the sounds of the great Norman Blake going. Thank you very much!
Great job Brother! Very skilled and talented!
That is the coolest rendition I've ever heard of Red Haired Boy! Worthy of all emulation!
Sure is a good one! Check out Andy Hatfield's version of Red Haired Boy on his TH-cam channel called acoustic groove box
I'm really enjoying playing around with the ideas and sounds on this one. The different key opens up a real different set of possibilities.
I feel like I keep coming back to this, but it's so good...love your take of this one.
I just watched 3 times
The guitar is amazing, and this version beats all i have ever heard about this song!
Absolutely amazing
I don’t know who the hell you are but is the best version of Red Haired Boy I have ever heard- Thank you
Ricky Ivens thanks so much.
it's good, but you've obviously not heard David Grier play it.. ;)
@@alcoholya I've heard David Grier play it. He is an incredible player but I always come back to this video. I much prefer this version.
You haven't heard much have you ? It's nice, but the best ? No
@@mgibby63mg I've heard more than one thousand things
Wow!! I don't know which one I like better....the arrangement of that song or that killer Gibson!!
I absolutely love this tune. Have since the very first time I heard it! Beautiful version. Love this old tune more so now than ever. Thank you so very much!
Beautiful playing......
Amazing version.

Absolutely wonderful...you were in the zone. Thanks
Great rendition of this Bob. I have to say that the shape of this guitar is unreal for a 1943. Sounds good too!

Gorgeous arrangement. Incredible player.

That was beautiful my man … I’m gonna have to come back for more !!

That’s beautiful Bob!, Thanks for sharing!
I really love that Collings of yours Bob, I've heard it in a few other videos as well, magic sounds and playing 😊
This is a GREAT version of this classic/standard! Great playing and great bluesy feel.
Feel Tone and Musicality for days!!
I love hearing you play. Red Haired Boy is one of my favorites.
Such a soulful and sensitive playing!
Thanks for posting, Sir!!!!
Lovely playing and arrangement on a wildly beautiful guitar
Very tasteful guitar playing! Different from any other version I’ve ever heard
Beautiful, so clean!!
Wonderful arrangement. Thank you, Bob.
Thanks very much Bob. Once again the subtle, tasteful beauty of your playing amazes me.
This is such a great rendition! You've got incredible technique and the tone on that guitar matches it, too.
Amazing👍best version I’ve ever heard🥇
Very nice. Thank you!
Very nice Bob your playing and the sound of that guitar are awesome. Oh and I still have that pick you gave me in 2018 at St Louis Flatpick. I can’t wear it out. Thanks.
Beautiful playing. Great interpretation. And, I love the tone you can get from that incredible, old Gibson.

Awesome playing, terrific guitar
Best version of RHB ever
Making it look so easy!
They don’t sound like that anymore!!! Great guitar!!!
Unbelievably beautiful tone!
Very sweet playing
Beautifully well performed
beautiful!
What the….that was freaking sweet!

great picking......really like it....mind if I share to my friends?
Love to see tab for this!
A very nice and tastefull version ! Respect !
And I think to myself, that guitar was built within months of when I was born. And we both still look in pretty good condition.
Fabulous!!!

Really really nice version love the tempo choice
This was great. I aspire to be able to let it flow like that someday
Masterfully done!
Bob you are one of my favorite guitarists. So smooth....
Wonderful picking!
Nicely played, Bob. Wonderful instrument as well. Subbed.
Very nice!
Love it!

Great observation Glen - you must be from the Canadian Maritime provinces...
Why yes ... Nova Scotia!
Awesome 👏👏👏
Sublime!!!!
"I approve of this message"..!
Perfect
Nice.. stumbled here and loved it... my main bluegrass picking guitar is actually "GASP" a 43 LG-2... its a freaking cannon.
Woa I wasn't expecting that. So tasty! Well done sir
Very expanding.
sweet guitar
Well played.
1937 D-18 or 1943 J-45? Just when I am thinking Martin you bring out this Gibson. Crystal clear. Thanks. 🙏❤️😎
Very nice job
Wow did not expect that! Great stuff man!
superb
Nicest vintage j45 I've seen
I thought that song was only for Martin's? Nice work
smooth like butta

No joke check out david griers version.
Bob do you have tabs for this particular arrangement? It's excellent!!!!
That’s hot
Do you have a transcription for this version? Hands down the best I’ve ever heard!!
hmmm, kinda like that out of a D form. Nice change of pace.
That is one beautiful guitar. I wonder what the nut width is on it?
1 3/4”.
@@missouriboy66 thank you. You play it well. I enjoyed this very much.
Wow - this has so much dynamics and feel. I love it! May I ask you what pick you use? Your sound is simply perfect.
Beautiful, are you in standard tune?
What type of music is this ?
@@robdonell9915 REAL music😉
Hey Bob. Do you teach? Or transcribe your material. Would love to learn your renditions
Bob... do you remember what kind of strings you had or have on this guitar? Super sweet tone!!
D’Addario NB-12s.
@@missouriboy66 Do you typically use 12's on J45 style guitars? I thought I saw 13's on your CJ45?
my god this is B key, they shall burn you like Joan of Darc...!
Nice version bro!
I love this version too, Rafael.
Also what kind of Gibson is that? J45?
1943 J-45.
wow, non traditional and amazing
