Personally I don’t understand why so many people hate this movie. It has flaws yes. What movie doesn’t have flaws? This movie is still a fun ride for me.
It's a cheesy movie that misreprents the brilliance of the 2000AD comics. With laughable bad acting. The few things that I like about it... The costumes of the Judges The ABC Warrior The design of Mega City-One The Silvestri score The rest is trash.

For anyone that is wondering why this is so good is because of the two protagonists. That's right there are two protagonists: Judge Dredd and his gun. The Lawgiver has it's own main role. These old movies understood the heart of men. We feel a connection to our tools. The coolness comes from its functionality and that it speaks. This is how they hook the audience, little boys mainly, into wanting one of those guns for themselves so they can be like Judge Dredd. This is actually quite brilliant!
Most people don't realize that half the Dredd comics are humorous and silly. For some reason, people crapping on this movie either have selective memory or just pretend to be fans of Judge Dredd without having read 2000 A.D. comics. That's been the case ever since that movie came out.

Regardless of the rest of the movie this 4 minutes and 23 seconds of movie is so rewatchable and so enjoyable to me it's so iconic who cares what everybody else thinks about the rest of the movie I enjoy this part and it's so rewatchable thanks for the small 4 minutes 23 seconds of enjoyment that I don't have to look for elsewhere finding the movie and finding the place in the movie🎉
Screw the Dredd purists, this movie came from a time when action movies could be FUN aside being brutal. And the setpieces, the ABC warrior, the corny lines. Outstanding.
Ok as cheezy as this movie is...i still love it, stallon is awesome, the outfits are insane and the plot is just as insane and i love every darn minute of it.
@@marbellaotaiza801 I mean for one he moaned that he had to have his helmet on even tho that’s literally dredds character, he re wrote the ending to fit his way and turned into a goofy comedy, I can’t recommend a video saying exactly that but I’m sure there’s more than a few plus stuff on Google.
I found the 2012 remake a little more to my tastes than this one, especially with its more grittier and rough around the edges take on the dystopian world of Judge Dredd.

I used to read Judge Dredd comics and never seen the films but this is true to the narrative. It not high art or literature but in a way reflects and foretold how ordinary people feel now about law and order enforcement they went in certain megacities in Europe and North America. Err... and the gold codpiece and kneecap and shoulder pads is a very retro 1980s look as well. 😀
I have no idea watch that particular fan base wants, but it's the most entertaining rendition of the universe I've ever seen. Granted, they take the universe very light heartedly, and maybe that turns some people off.
@@l337pwnage It's a weird thing with this movie and _Dredd_ This one manages to get the visual aesthetics down to a T, like it's straight out of the comics, but the characters are all wrong and certain guide lines are non-existent, so the overblown yet barely there story suffers as a result. The other one is quite the polar opposite. It has a more generic, albeit slightly gritty aesthetic (intentionally so) but it gets the comic characters right (except Anderson to a degree but that's fine since that's supposed to be an origin story) and the story is simple enough and has a decent enough pace that it somehow ends up all working out well.
I'm glad that we got a good reboot. Which is very rare for Hollywood. But the fact that they never make any trilogy's from this story is a crime in itself!

tnis was the best scene in the whole film, stalone admitted he ran roughshod over the director. the later movie was much better and true to the comics. this was like a super adventure but the later movie was just a typical day.

When he recites the broken laws to the last guy it pains to hear how down the line (even if its soooo punishable) is street judge´s murder, kinda showing how all the other offendable actions comes before it.
Because Dredd doesn't do witticisms in the comics. Urban's Dredd is very much keen to the comics even if the Stallone movie used more of the proper nouns.
Il love the environment in this movie more than the 2012 one because it's more aligned to the 80s/90s style of dystopian cities. Beside that, this movie is trash AF. The 2012 version is way better under every single aspect, imho

Not exactly. In Demolition Man society gets divided into 2 camps, the underground people that live in filth but eat actual meat and do whatever they want and the surface dwellers that live censored sanitized lives, eat synthetic foods and get fined for cussing. In the universe of Judge Dredd the society is somehow a mixture of both.
Robocop remake is ok. A bit clean looking for my taste but not bad by any metric. Total Recall was as bad a remake as possible. DREDD is a masterpiece.

For anyone that is wondering why this is so good is because of the two protagonists. That's right there are two protagonists: Judge Dredd and his gun. The Lawgiver has it's own main role. These old movies understood the heart of men. We feel a connection to our tools. The coolness comes from its functionality and that it speaks. This is how they hook the audience, little boys mainly, into wanting one of those guns for themselves so they can be like Judge Dredd. This is actually quite brilliant!

I found the 2012 remake a little more to my tastes than this one, especially with its more grittier and rough around the edges take on the dystopian world of Judge Dredd.

I used to read Judge Dredd comics and never seen the films but this is true to the narrative. It not high art or literature but in a way reflects and foretold how ordinary people feel now about law and order enforcement they went in certain megacities in Europe and North America.
Err... and the gold codpiece and kneecap and shoulder pads is a very retro 1980s look as well. 😀

This one manages to get the visual aesthetics down to a T, like it's straight out of the comics, but the characters are all wrong and certain guide lines are non-existent, so the overblown yet barely there story suffers as a result.
The other one is quite the polar opposite. It has a more generic, albeit slightly gritty aesthetic (intentionally so) but it gets the comic characters right (except Anderson to a degree but that's fine since that's supposed to be an origin story) and the story is simple enough and has a decent enough pace that it somehow ends up all working out well.
I'm glad that we got a good reboot. Which is very rare for Hollywood.
But the fact that they never make any trilogy's from this story is a crime in itself!

tnis was the best scene in the whole film, stalone admitted he ran roughshod over the director. the later movie was much better and true to the comics. this was like a super adventure but the later movie was just a typical day.
All those offenses were pretty heavy but the line was crossed when one of their own was murdered in the field, especially beings that he was so young.

Because Dredd doesn't do witticisms in the comics. Urban's Dredd is very much keen to the comics even if the Stallone movie used more of the proper nouns.
This has a totally different vibe from the 2012 Dredd. That movie felt like a hopeless violent dystopia. This movie feels cheesier

Flechettes are small finned darts. Cartridges usually have a case of brass, paper or these days, plastic but caseless is when the case is part of the propellant so the whole thing burns and there's nothing to eject.
