Love the ratcheting sounds when Cain moves certain parts, the "whirr" of satisfaction he feels when he gets his nuke high, the otherworldly sound of the electrical discharges after his CPU/brain is destroyed. Classic.
Funny why they would build something like that into his body in the first place lol. And he should've been overdosed by that amount of drugs anyway lol
I love at 3:46 with that digital eye kind of popping out of screen in terror. Like an, “OH SHIT!” as he sees Murphy with his brain in front of himself, still connected via neuralink.
1:57 Anyone else noticed that Robo-Kane stooped down at the sight of Nuke and even sounded like "Whoa..." in a mechanical way as if he was mesmerised by it.
The stop motion adds so much to this scene because it gives the impression that Kane is awkwardly stumbling around and his new body which he is not used to moving around in 😮
They had no time to test him and his brain is still addicted to nuke. Had they just flash cloned his neural pattern into the robots neural net he wouldn’t have that weakness.
You gotta give credit to OCP engineering. After having a multi-ton APC slam him into a reinforced concrete wall, Cain isn't even scratched. Even those exposed waist hydraulics are in perfectly fine shape.
The stupid cops there with useless pistols. They should have had military grade equipment, beyond the armored aliens style cruiser. If they had the tech to make him, they had the weapons to take him down. Their incentive is their reputation and the lawsuits. But I loved Robocain. I think the fight could have gone on longer, with Robo getting some stronger weapons to make it more interesting.
Stop motion photography was really getting good here with Phil Tippett. Then Jurassic Park arrives and just killed it over night. However this has aged way better than 95% of cgi even today.
3:36 Considering we saw how other humans reacted to being in the failed Robocop shells, just seeing how long it takes Cain's brain to actually DIE and go offline is some new kind of bodyhorror.
What I love about the film Robocop are the realistic design-function relationship in the details of Robocop's body, for example the hydraulics on his legs and neck, the hidden gun holster in this thigh. It's not just a science fiction but sets possibilities in engineering and technologies. Add to this FX the cool targeting system in his visor...which is similar to today's weapon techs.
stop motion still exists... and honestly it doesn't look awesome at all. You're seeing it through rose tinted glasses. It actually just looks shit and totally brings you out of the film.
@@lukefreeman828 I was thinking the exact same thing... It adds to the steampunk aesthetic in a campy way, but it also feels really awkward. The nuclear loading mechanism rapidly opening and closing it's claws (as to simulate a cartoonish gimme-gimme gesture) didn't help.

@@ROVER25XThat’s true, Murphy’s armor in this sequel was able to endure a direct-hits from Cain’s 7.62x51mm Minigun and 20mm auto cannons although in the original (1987) he was easily torn apart by ED-209’s armaments but as aforementioned above, Murphy most likely received an upgrade to be more resistant and durable by the time the events of RoboCop 2 occurred.
