I absolutely agree with your opinion of the best generation being the 3rd. I had the 4th for a few years and loved it so much. But the 3rd was what I had my hear set of for so long.
While I think I would have loved to see thr relationship to the old triangle tale lights honored, I do love your version I would probably own this if it were available
Stop calling it a redesign, this is nothing more then what most car manufacturers do mid cycle, or mid cycle refreshes. A redesign is all new from the ground up....
We have this car in our family since '97. Still looks gorgeous inside and out. Bucket sport seats and short shifter are awesome. I'd love to see you redesign the front end too. Great job!
@@Thesketchmonkey you should restart redesigning both front and rear from now on, You might never know who’s watching and would want to purchase your designs

I love the prelude ESPECIALLY the JDM horizontal headlamp version. This rear end really transforms the car and looks like something that could be made today. Great redesign!
I still own a '94 Prelude VTEC I bought new and regularly get offers to buy it. It's a beautiful car with elegant lines. Honda would do well to resume production of the 4th gen, perhaps with your styling cues.
I had a 4th gen 95 Si like this model and a 5th gen 98. The amazing thing about the Prelude is that all of its performance was accessible and that you would NOT end up in a ditch unless you were really stupid. And it's because of this that you could hang with 300ZX's and RX-7's in the right places. I've had a 987 S, which was a better car of course, but the 'Ludes were more fun.
I will say the 4th gen definitely switched up the looks and stands out a bit. In person though they all look low and wide one of my favorite things about the preludes stance.
I own a 3rd gen lude, I've honestly fell in love with it, and what was said about the 3rd and 5th gen headlights I think is very true, I think they look very similar and I think the 5th gen really keeps the style of the older gens and newer gens.
Prelude: an introductory piece of music, most commonly an orchestral opening to an act of an opera. The original tail lights are in the shape of a metronome.
I have one of these as my first car. It is 11years older than me but I am a happy happy man :) . Not the fastest thing in the world but it handles like a dream and looks even better.
That looks sick!!! Nice work! I've owned 2 4th gen Preludes, 1 - 1995 SE, and still own a 1994 Si....Always loved this model in particular, but especially the 4th generation. So far ahead of it's time, and I so wish they would bring it back in some form.
I purchased a red 1992 Prelude Si with spoiler off the showroom floor and drove it for 15 trouble free years. My child outgrew the back “seat”, so I traded it in for a 2007 CRV, which I have been driving for 16 trouble free years. A big thank you to Honda for two cars that have given me a combined 31 trouble free years of driving! I’m now ready to shop for a new car, and if they brought back the Prelude, I’d buy it in a heartbeat.
I have been building Ludes all my life, I still remember getting my first red 4th gen , got it for a good price since it was leaking and smoking a lot bc the oil cooler o ring was cracked and the owner of course thought it was toast ,$ 6 to fix and have been a luder ever since! Named her the red dragon. You make me proud to be a luder , good job on the design sir.
Sold. I will take one in Granada Black Pearl. I was fortunate enough to have owned an Import BB4 face-lift with slipper and all the weight saving options. Got it with 30k km on clock and it died with over 325km. Written off 3 times by other drivers over 11 years and I loved every single journey in that car. Just an incredible driver experience. I will never own another car for that long now have company cars every 3 years. Honda never have got it so very right. Viva le resorection❤
NICE SPORT CAR - I ve driven these car many years AGO in LOS ANGELES - LA DOWNTOWN, one of the best cars for sport driving mode. Very tight on curves and totally stable on agressive driving mode. MISS U PRELUDE 2001 VTI.
If you do take this design further, please include the necessary aero that most Lude owners end up doing... Hood vent, fender vents, lip kit, etc. The doors would need to be taller/windows shorter as well to keep up with the present day safety requirements. Would also be super cool to make front grill/headlights look like BB4 dash ? Retro retro retro keep all the past favorite attributes intact please ❤
I own a gen4, in progress of restomodding with some unique styling. Only thing with your beautiful re-design that I'd change is keeping the rear lights more traditionally shaped pie slices rather than copying what looks very much like stolen civic lights.
I wish I could post my 1992 sketch of the Prelude from the Car and Driver cover. I impulsively wrote " when design becomes inbred". I was agitated with the non pop-up headlights. I like it now, and your redesign is strong. Great job!
I got to own 4 Preludes in my life. 4- 4th Gen and 1- 5th Gen I was lucky. I would love for the Prelude to come back. They did it for the Supra now it’s time for Honda to step up!
I agree, it’s your best redesign yet. As a huge Prelude fan, I’d love to see this released. With the right performance and sticker price, I could see myself finally again buying a new car. Please, Honda, keep it basic: manual transmission, classic mechanical instrumentation, light weight, low stance…
I've owned a 4th gen prelude for 15 years and agree that it's the best looking generation, but it's not a popular opinion lol. Ironically, I just got my engine back from the machine shop last night after waiting 2.5 years. Time to get another 4th gen back on the road.
think the design is great. i believe that the Honda Prelude and Acura RSX should be reimagined not as $40,000 300+hp RWD Nissan 370Z and Toyota Supra fighters but instead as $30,000 Subaru BRZ, Toyota GR86 fighters. To achieve such pricing, the new Prelude will incorporate Ambient lighting into the new beautiful Honda Civic interior, and use the 252hp Accord 2.0T and 315hp Type R engines. Using economies of scale to lower production costs, there will be a manual and 10 speed auto option as well as optional AWD or RWD.
My cousin had a 90s Prelude with a Bayside Black Widow body kit when I was a kid. I thought it was the coolest car ever. This was right when The Fast and the Furious came out. Haha
Overall, I love what you did. The only thing I would change is the height of the plastic trim at the bottom edge of the profile. I would reduce this a bit by bringing down the actual sheet metal a couple inches.
I've never been much of a Honda guy but if they brought the prelude back & it at least looked very close to this, I'd have to reconsider everything else on the market today. I can't wait to see the inevitable front end redesign.
There is a legend that the Honda Prelude must be fitted with slick tires on the front in Japan, so the Prelude owner has two unused slick tires in his home warehouse. 「よろしく メカドック」 comic book
I think an AWD 300hp stock 4 cylinder versión would be a tuners or even daily driver enthusiast’s dream. And of course offer a manual transmission option. :)
Bringing the Prelude back would kinda make sense if Honda wasn't so allergic to coupes. They really should have a coupe in their lineup. I'd buy one lol.
I always thought the late 90s generation was a modernized late 80s gen, just without the flip up lights. Lights were the same shape, same placement, and it was more boxy than the early 90s.

Great talent! ;-)
Nice redesign. It would be even better if you have touched the headlights and the nose, it would lift up the character and the design even more.
probably got lazy and left the BB2 front end shape 😂😅

I love the prelude ESPECIALLY the JDM horizontal headlamp version. This rear end really transforms the car and looks like something that could be made today. Great redesign!
The shape of the original taillights is iconic.
Should have roughly kept that shape!
Great job, I've always loved this Prelude too. It's crazy how the horizontal tail lights make it look wider.
I actually widened it just a bit to fit a modern sized coupe
@@Thesketchmonkey I see, must have missed that while I was 2nd screening. Looks great 👍🏾
Love this update!! Prelude was always one of my favs, and this is just beautiful!!
You should've stuck with the vertical taillights. That's what made it iconic.
Yeah. The jaguar xjs style taillights!
I feel he puts the same taillights on every car he draws
I agree! Maybe just make it a bit smaller
The 3rd and 4th gen prelude holds a special place in my heart. This is an awesome redesign!
Thank you!

Lucky! Glad your taking care of it
Nah, let the 4th gen. Prelude remain the Icon it is!
There's no need to bring everything back!

It would never look as good as the older models, believe me.

Amazing. They should produce this

Where is the Audi TT redesign you posted?
I really want Honda to bring the Prelude back. Great redesign!
As a bmw 2 series owner and a 5th Gen prelude owner. I think this is spot on of what a modern coupe would look like from Honda.
I just recently bought an 01 as a project, really cool redesign man!
Loved it! Makes me wanting for front redesign as well!
The 4th gen will always have a special place in my heart. Love my 93'.
