For the touchscreen to work while in motion just go to communication settings click on a device that is connected and scroll down. Look for enable touchscreen while in motion or something like that be sure to check it and your all set.

The touch screen while driving is easy to turn on but I've literally never used it because the knob is so much better. I don't know why people want a touchscreen in their car. It's funny how he's taking his eyes off the road to furiously tap the play button while the volume knob that you can easily find/feel with your hand without looking is a pause/play button. The controls are so easy and so much safer if you just take a minute to learn them. Mazda found a way to get all the functionality of a modern infotainment with tactile buttons so you don't have to look at a screen to do things, and everyone complains about it. It's the best design I know of and one of the main reasons I bought this car and it's so frustrating that every reviewer just cries about it.
Anyways, they just announced a hybrid for 2025 and it's supposed to get around 38mpg.

This one must have had a bug because we have tested many Mazdas and know that function can be turned on. This one didn’t have it. Also, there are still instances (not pressing the play button) that it is MUCH faster to touch what you want on the screen. Waze for example.
We have a whole podcast episode where we interview the head of Mazda safety and ask her about the command knob specifically.

Great video, about the touchscreen while in motion. I have seen there is a setting to enable it while in motion. I'm debating between this and a kia sportage hybrid, any thoughts?

Yes there is a setting to enable touch while moving, shows up when you first pair the phone and is very obvious in settings. Honestly not sure how they missed it, it’s also a very visible thing to google as the answer is all over the Reddit forums lol.
If you care about fuel efficiency, go with the Kia. If you are ok with paying more at the pump go Mazda, I have one and absolutely love it and it’s quite the looker lol.

Trust me, i looked. I mean I 👀 LOOKED. it wasn’t on this one. Not sure why. I’ve had other Mazdas on the channel that all worked right. This one had issues. Another oddity, traffic sign recognition didn’t work.

Hey guys, great review! But I’m confused how you don’t know about the setting to enable touch while in motion. The car asks you if you want to enable this when you pair a phone and is one of like 3 settings in the cars phone/pair settings. It’s also all over Reddit and other forums so the frustration you feel to Mazda lawyers should really just be directed to a mirror… aside from a very blatant and kinda funny mishap on the touch stuff it’s a fantastic review and as a 50 owner myself agree with much of what you had to say!

Ours had a few quibbles. One was that the traffic sign recognition wasn’t working. Though
It was turned on. The other was there was no way to turn on touch screen while in motion. We are driving a CX-70 right now and it DOES have this function, but the CX-50 in this review did not. No matter how much we dug through the menus.

I think you would need a very distinctive item on your review ..
Such as does it have acoustic(double glass) laminated glass,
what if you always measure the cargo space behind the 2nd row(depth, width) instead of meaningless cubic inches of volume.
