- Since 2018, mercenaries from Russia's Wagner Group, an effective secret army of the Kremlin, have been active in Central African Republic. They protect the impoverished country's regime in exchange for valuable mineral resources and deploy a massive propaganda campaign to cover up the massacres, rapes and torture they are accused of. Taking advantage of France's loss of influence in its former colony, Russia is seen to be using Central African Republic - a country ripped apart by decades of civil war - as a testing ground in a new battle for global influence. As an African who’s also an academician I can categorically say this that just like most African nations, Russia is very rich and blessed with any natural resources like oil and the rest of them; in fact Russia is the main oil supplier to many European countries, and so do not really need any thing from CAR. They only want more allies and supporters around the globe.

How many years, decades has France exerted influence in the Central African Republic? A very dismal one indeed. I wish the Brothers and Sisters in the Central African Republic all the best.
France has been in central Africa republic from the 16th century, from the days of slavery to a few years ago. They even imposed on us their French language plus keep our monies (CFA) in France in addition to make our country pay for colonial tax and they had the right of usage of all our natural resources. Would I be wrong to lift the yoke of my neck. I have been the equivalent of George Floyd with the racist white police with a knee on my neck. France must be kicked out of Afrika completely plus her French language.
Central African Republic has the right to choose its partners. How they use their resources is their business.

Military alliance to fight of feuding tribes or raiders which eventually led to they colonising us, dividing us some and plundering our resources till this day. What Africa needs is unity and citizens who are policy and generational thinking when it comes to electing leaders and not based on tribal lines. If you take a careful look at the political space across Africa tribe and religion are respected and considered more over policies and its implementation by electorates

Big difference from EU colonial powers and Russia is that Russia respects Africa, does not meddle into internal affairs and does not telling them what to do and how to live.

Even the Taliban admitted it was a mistake to fight soviet union who literally built infrastructure in Afghanistan and made the society more moderate with actual women rights and education. I was in CAR about three months ago for work. Wagner were all over the place. Not just in Bangui. I was in a remote area and there were there too.
