So a little information about the Devil Fruits: they all have the same drawback which is that the person who eats it is cursed by the sea and loses their ability to swim. Also if they are caught in any body of water, they lose their strength.
You guys missed an important detail. That woman said the drawback to eating a devil fruit IS losing the ability to swim. You Don’t lose a part of yourself, just the ability to swim. And Shanks swam there to save Luffy, so it wasn’t a devil fruit ability he used. It’s something much more powerful that’ll take a while to be explained.

To clarify, Luffy cannot be hurt by impact but can by piercing and bladed weaponry. Buggy is the opposite, immune to being pieced and sliced but not to impacts.
Some devil fruits can alter your general appearance, but Buggy has ALWAYS had that nose. Weakness to water, especially sea water, comes with EVERY devil fruit. Edit: Also, Shanks does NOT have a devil fruit ability; but telling you any more would be a spoiler.

Actually Devil Fruit users has the same weakness, sea water. Also, they are a hammer in water. They will sink. Just to clarify, Shanks is not a DF user. In the anime, he was swimming to save Luffy which is a confirmation that he hasn't eaten a DF. But they can't really show his injury if they let him swim so maybe that's why he was in a boat in live action. With this show's success, I have high hopes for a second season. 🫶🏼

The sea king (what "One Piece" calls the sea monsters) bit off Shanks' arm and the power that he used to drive the sea king away is not devil fruit related. That power will likely be revealed in a later season. The cost to all Devil Fruit eaters is the same; you can't swim in the ocean; it weakens you to the point that you can't move. Also, Buggy's appearance isn't related to the Devil Fruit.

Hello, the world is separate into four. The grand line and the red line seperates the it into 4. The Blues (North, West, East, and South) Edit: surrounding the grand line is something called the calm belt. A place with no wind and filled with monsters. Edit 2: @25.01 Shanks is not a devil fruit user. Its will be shown again in Alabasta if the show reached there.
The Sea Beast did just bite off Shanks' arm, the only drawback you get for eating a DF is not being able to swim, more specifically the sea turns its back on you and Sea Water makes you weak, but there area some rules to it, I honestly forgot most of them but what I do remember is "a few splashes" of Sea Water wouldn't weaken a DF user. Also there are Powers in One Piece that aren't Devil Fruits, some people just have some special supernatural abilities.
Everytime I watch or rewatch that scene as a fan I tear up. Doesn't matter if it's LA or Anime. The whole story makes the words Luffy and Shanks say that much more emotional.

Story constantly being moving, and World is just too big. Its building up to something like Endgame War BUT literally 50xtimes bigger and better. It will be the greatest war ever written on fiction so that's why its taking so long

watched episode 2 tonight to watch reactions and the term "verisimilitude" kept coming back to my brain even though I can't say i've heard it, can't pronounce it, but I've read the word before. Turns out it's..a way to describe a concept that is "more believable" ? i'd never use it in real life because I don't talk to people. but it's a nice adjective? to describe something. somebody smarter than me should know how to use it

I suggest you guys watch the episodes off stream too, because you skipped so much important dialog which explained many of your questions. Not complaining, it makes for good content, but for enjoying the show more, at least pay attention to the dialog in one watch through.
the only weakness devil fruits have is seawater more precisely the concept of being submerged in water, although there are certain devil fruits that have certain weaknesses based on their abilities for example Luffy's rubber fruit is very strong against blunt attacks but it offers no protection against slash attacks other fruits, later on will have weaknesses against other fruits simply based on the abilities the fruits offer but those are unique cases to those fruits, there are more "weaknesses" but I doubt the live action will ever go that far into the story

We have no evidence to suggest that one piece influenced attack on titan. Just because something comes after something else and is similar doesn’t mean the author copied or gained inspiration from it. These character devices and ways of telling stories are as old as time.
Not a spoiler, buggy was born with a rounded big nose, the only and universal set back that eating a devil fruit gives you is that sea water takes away your strength, if you're submerged in it you drop like a hammer and can't move, it's like an extreme exhaustion more so than a paralysis
Everyone who eats a devil fruit loses their ability swim and sea water saps their power. That’s the trade off. Buggy just has a big nose. It had nothing to do with his fruit powers. And no, Shanks didn’t eat a devil fruit. There’s other forms of power other than the devil fruits.
Not to get into spoiler but just to clear things up, there are a couple different power systems in the world of One Piece. And Devil Fruit is just one of them, what Shanks did is a more advanced type of power that you at this point in the story should not know yet. But I'm sure you know something is up so yeah, you just gotta wait for the show to explain it

Devil Fruits aren't the only sources of power in the One Piece world, meaning not everyone who has a weird ability ate one.
The ability to swim is the price for all devil fruits. Buggy's nose is just like that since childhood.

Devil Fruit may have different abilities BUT they all have THE SAME weakness... they all can't swim in the sea
We have no evidence to suggest that one piece influenced attack on titan. Just because something comes after something else and is similar doesn’t mean the author copied or gained inspiration from it. These character devices and ways of telling stories are as old as time.
Not a spoiler, buggy was born with a rounded big nose, the only and universal set back that eating a devil fruit gives you is that sea water takes away your strength, if you're submerged in it you drop like a hammer and can't move, it's like an extreme exhaustion more so than a paralysis
Season 1 is around 100 chapters. So around 12 seasons. Not 100 lol

Everyone who eats a devil fruit loses their ability swim and sea water saps their power. That’s the trade off. Buggy just has a big nose. It had nothing to do with his fruit powers. And no, Shanks didn’t eat a devil fruit. There’s other forms of power other than the devil fruits.

Not to get into spoiler but just to clear things up, there are a couple different power systems in the world of One Piece. And Devil Fruit is just one of them, what Shanks did is a more advanced type of power that you at this point in the story should not know yet. But I'm sure you know something is up so yeah, you just gotta wait for the show to explain it
