great selection. I love chardonnay and have enjoyed the SA Hamilton Russell and the Catena Alta in recent years. Being in London the go to bulk purchase seemed to be the Louis Latour Mâcon-Lugny. @@drmatthewhorkey from the Wine Society in the UK. As Burgundy becomes more and more expensive, the future looks bright for the Mornington Peninsula and excellent producers such as Kooyong. These are special wines and the pinot noir and chardonnay experience that they offer can rival that from Burgundy, but at exceptional value in comparison. Quantities are small but these are pristine, elegant and extremely special fine wines which I hope you thoroughly enjoy.

Call me an old fart but in my opinion, wine should taste like wine and not like a fruit cocktail of banana/peach/apricots/kiwi. After years, the Australians have learned not to destroy their Savignon Blanc now it's time for America and South Africa to learn not to destroy chardonay. Chablis is intantly recognizable and the best is never boring.

Great video! I am a huge fan of Chardonnay- as you said, the neutrality of the grape allows the hand of the winemaker to show through, but I would add that it allows terroir to show through as well. I'm a huge Chardonnay fan, but I must say that I'm not surprised Australia came out on top, one of my favorite Chardonnays is Leeuwin Art Series!

That looked fun. Loved to have joined you in the tastings to share thoughts.
BTW, Airen is indeed the most widely planted white grape but that's because it is planted at very low density and that statistic is determined by acreage. If you go by number of vines, Chardonnay comes out on top. Few Airen wines are made and most are for local consumption. Most of it used to blend with other wines or as fortified wine.

France Chardonnay from most Burgundy is often overpriced due to high demand and low production... If I go Burgundy I go to the lesser known AOPs in the South, such as Pouilly Fuissé, Saint-Véran or event Beaujolais whites (very confidential production), Languedoc provide some great value options also with Limoux or Pays d'Oc, or event the Jura region for wine connoisseurs, after I love to explore Argentina, long time big fan of Catena (Alta, but also White stones and White bones), South Africa and the US but US wines are almost impossible to get here

I would enjoy your review more if you would explain what you are tasting and connect that to something like the barrel wood or focus on the grapes and where you think they are from and why. There are tastes and odors associated with Chardonnay grapes. What is your opinion and and why do you hold it. There must be some kind of comparison. You came across as confused and unsure of yourself. You are not coming across as an expert as you report yourself to be. Sorry that this is harsh, but I think you would like an honest opinion.
