    She may have lost but one thing u can’t take away is her improvement. Yes, we may have not seen it considering it’s the start of the new season and she lost in R2. But we saw her play more aggressively and differently from last season and idk if it’s just me but she’s sort of changed as a player slightly. She didn’t make it easy for coco. Ranked number 7 in the world and everuone doubting her but still producing a tough match, I think that’s an improvement within itself. She may have lost but she is also gracious in defeat. Btw I love both coco and Emma so no hate pls. Congrats coco…Well done Emma!

      I agree, she’s gradually getting more aggressive. It’s just hard to see the improvement because she hasn’t played many matches.

      Yes, physically she is stronger, gym time of the past couple of months paid off. Her game improved too, particularly incorporated more varieties, like drop shots. She needs more consecutive match time to be more consistent. Overall a high quality match from both.

    Good interview. She’s showing maturity in these conferences. She’s in a good headspace too, you can see it. It sounds like she’s finally got the team she wants around her. I think she was a bit hard on her herself today, she played some great stuff.

    I feel as though I can predict the outcome of Emma's matches by watching her posture and body language in the first few points. I think today she was tense, she probably felt this game more than usual due to the expectation of the battle against another young star. Despite all this, and despite her serve being completely off, she really should have won the second set. She put up a good fight. I just hope she now stays injury free and can get into a good groove. I feel that when playing well she can beat anybody.

      My heart said Emma my head Coco. Emma needs more court time. So few matches and a twisted ankle, nothing she could do about that. Her preparation was then compromised. But then getting injured is nothing new in the game, check out how many pulled out of the AO before the tournament. Emma is forever in the spotlight some might say searchlight. If she hadn't won the US Open her development could have gone the conventional way and with nowhere the attention and she has now. Still, she is where she is.

    With more plays and match fitness ready, emma has a very good future. Today her lack of matches came into play by making so many errors and not able to convert so many breakpoints which eventually gave the match to coco. Coco serve saved her.

    • @jgunner94
      @jgunner94 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Also she was hampered by something it seems cause her serve speed was way lower than her best. She can consistently hit first serves around 175khm but a lot were 130-140khm.

      @@remek5758 They’ve been niggles which look like growing pains. I watched pretty much every one of her matches last year and players have been upping their level against her compared to 2021 so her body has been pushed to get these little injuries compared to a newcomer with no notoriety. She can definitely get a win against a top player. She’s already beaten 3 of the current top 10 being Garcia, Sakkari and Bencic.

    • @rawbylaw4717
      @rawbylaw4717 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      How about Coco holding off 2 sets points and being gracious about it saying she got "lucky". Emma can rightfully say lack of ample practice time due to the injury had some factor in her playing BUT you step on the court...end of EXCUSES.. She IS capable of winning more majors, she realized in the last 6 months what it will take and has set about to improve her strength and conditioning, the ankle was bad timing but it's part of the game. But the mental part...Coco was satisfied she did "not freak out" as she may have in the past at those set points and held, lucky or not... Emma could not execute on those two points and it was mental not physical. THAT ALL SAID... the upside potential of these two players is off the charts...Great effort Emma. GO COCO get that first slam!

    I was able to watch the whole match live on BeinSports and it lived up to its billing.
    Emma could so easily have won not only the 2nd set but the whole match if some of her aggressive volleys into the corners had found their mark.

    Emma, for christs sake! Please! Stop coming up with the "limited fitness" excuses for losing!! You played very well with no sign of injury. There wasnt much between you and Coco, but she just edged it. It was a good performance where you had your chances but didnt capitalise. You do seem depressed in this interview, but there's no need for that. Just try a little harder to give Gauff some credit for the win, even if it does come hard.
