As an iranian sunni Muslim, it saddens me to see the centre for the islamic golden age is no longer iran.

How did Iran become shia? Simple, the Saffavids literally forced people to convert from Sunni Islam to Shia by the sword. However, the Baluch, Kurds, Turkmen etc are still Sunni. Small minority of Persians are Sunni but vast majority are shia.

Indeed Safavids forced the Muslims to become Shia with all means of torture and brutality. Something, the Ayatollah regime is currently doing in Iraq, Syria and Yemen. Ismail Safavi had Armenian mother just like Halaqu Khan, so one can expect why it happened. Kufans, the descendant of Jews of Khyber, served as starting point of the shia cult however, the origins are traced back to Ibn Sabah from Yemen. From the assassinations of none other than Omar(ra), Osman(ra), Ali(ra), Hassan(ra), Hussain (ra) at kerbala, etc. the Kufi fitnah was indeed the horn of Satan, better referred to as Khawarij. From Assassins to present day Khamnae regime shia history is nothing but judeo-persian backlash and revenge from muslims...

I would like to mention here that after the collapse of the Umayyad Caliphate, numerous Sunni Persian dynasties started to emerge in the eastern Iranian plateau which actually accelerated the Islamic Golden Age. These Sunni Persian empires were Samanids, Saffarids, Tahirids, Muzaffarids, Ghaznavids, Ghurids, Khwarezmians and many others. You can even count Timurids in Central Asia & Mughals in India as Turko-Persian & Indo-Persian empires because they look up to the Persian high culture. These empires literally started a process called Iranian intermezzo aka Persian renaissance (8th to 16th century AD).
It's a big lie that Arabs forcefully converted Iranians to Islam. They didn't! Iranians started to become Muslims during the period of native Persian Sunni Islamic dynasties, especially Samanid empire. All these Persian empires heavily patronized Sunni Islam and revitalized the Iranian civilization with a new distinct Islamic (Sunni) identity.
You forgot to mention Sunni Afghans who literally destroyed the entire Safavid empire by establishing the Hotak dynasty which was the first Afghan empire. That glorious Hotak rebellion against those Safavis was a joint struggle of Tajiks, Uzbeks, Turkmens & Pashtuns to liberate themselves from barbaric Shi'ism and it's violence. Today, Alhamdulillah, the entire eastern Iranian plateau is Sunni. Our Sunni Islamic faith is the one that holds us all together. It is Islam that binds us all nationalities together like a glue.

This is a very distorted overview 1. Safavids were originally a Sunni Sufi order which converted to Shia Islam over a span of decades via debates their scholars/murids held in their halaqas. 2. Safavid-Ottoman conflict was first and foremost an intra Turkic civil war as Safavids saw themselves as more legitimate to rule all Turkic tribes. 3. There are many evidences that most Sunni centers of learning remained intact. Dr.Jonathan Brown mentions one well known Sunni hadith Madrassa in Qazwin or Rasht. 4. Yes, Safavids were not saints, but comments here show lack of basic knowledge and a blind sectarian approach void of academic reading of the events.

Shi'ism began in Iran with the Shu'ubiyya movement, an Iranian initiative! After that, the Buyid dynasty was the first Shi'a government in Iran! The inclination towards Shi'ism was in opposition to the Umayyads because the Shi'a Imams were against the Umayyad and Abbasid dynasties, which had occupied Iran! The Safavids were not the first Shi'a government. Additionally, cursing the caliphs is not related to the Safavids but rather to the Ismaili caliphs of the Fatimid dynasty in North Africa! Bro Iran is a terrorist state. They cause problems for us in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Lebanon, etc. with their IRGC militias. Iran would have been extremely prosperous under Sunni rule as we don’t do terrorism and so we wouldn’t have any sanctions on us. They also have an extreme amount of natural gas and minerals, but can’t use them cuz sanctions. They have a messed up society, sheikhs issuing bidah permissive rulings for mutah(prostitution) temporary marriage, engaging in major sins purposefully, etc. They are our enemies. Even if they support Palestine with military aid. The reason our leaders don’t do enough is because hands are tied (don’t want to cause massive economic collapse in the country) or causing major war, or aren’t religious enough to give up our relation with the west for the sake of Allah.

I am a Shia Iranian, and whenever I traveled to Sunni regions of Iran, I encountered the most honorable, polite, and patriotic people! The Islamic Republic has committed many injustices against these fellow citizens of ours, but this has nothing to do with the relations and feelings between Shia and Sunni in Iran! We are all proud followers of the Prophet's tradition! Extreme Shia and superstitious individuals do exist, but the truth of ancient Iranian society is understanding, peace, tolerance, and brotherhood. We are Muslim bro!

Releasing a video at the start of Muharram. I see what you did there ;) Important to note that the minor Shia groups who found sanctuary in Persia ended up also taking part in early Persians rebellions against Arab rule. Rebellions led by the likes of Babak Khorramdin were a weird amalgamation of Zoroastrian and early Shi'ism. Also its important to note that Safavids were not Persian, but a Turkic tribe who had become Shia Muslims and had to do something drastic to ensure they can counter the Sunni Ottomans by any means necessary.

And they were definitely helped by the Europeans who were the enemies of the Ottoman Empire. That's why safavids always attacked Ottomans from the rear when they were at the gates of vienna

Loss of Iran was a big blow to Islamic civilization. Now even the Shias numbers are dwindling in Iran and soon it'll fall to atheism. People with political reasons have harmed muslims from the time of Prophet SAWs departure from our world.
