from what i learned the reason you dont manage to layer more than 3 colors is because you use quite thick coats from the start and you need to very lightly layer at first

      Thanks for the tip!
I think you're right. I'm currently experiencing this as I'm drawing another colored pencil piece. I've started using way less pressure at first and am able to control my result much better.
Before that I had started to use high pressure from the get go to get a nice clean look and avoid the "colored pencil look". Ironic maybe... But I like(d) it the way where you don't immediatedly recognize it as a drawing... but only after looking closely. (That worked with a colleague from work btw, haha!)

      Glad to hear so
I suggest you to look at time lapses, tutorials and helping videos to learn how others do it

@@JustAgirly0 Don't worry, I do! Actually, most people that have inspired me in terms of colored pencil drawings, like Jasmina Susak or drawholic, layer only two colors or even use just one layer with high pressure from the start. Layering isn't essential and I still think that the more colors you layer above each other, the muddier the final value gets. So you gotta use it wisely and in the right dose... :)

@@BueskenArt it depends on the style. If you do less layering and more strong pressure and clear layers it won't look as realistic as the real thing. For example. Look at Kirsty or Bonny Snowdon's drawings
It takes lots of colors and layers to get to the realistic fur or skin tones

      Thanks, mate! Much appreciated! :P
