Pink Floyd is one of the greatest bands that's ever been. They're a genre all to themselves and several of their songs contain multiple styles in one, blues, funk, hard rock... Their sound is hard to place in any specific era, like they exist outside of time. Their songs are always an emotional and cerebral experience that's hard to put into words. I very much hope you continue listening to Pink Floyd. You'll get lots of suggestions and you can't go wrong with any of them. Also, don't let the length of some of their songs deter you because even they aren't long enough and will leave you wanting more. 💗
David Gilmour lead guitarist and vocalist is one of the top five guitarists ever to walk this planet!! Do the live version of "Comfortably Numb" at the 1994 Pulse concert if you want to see one of the greatest songs & best guitar solos ever played live!!!!! And it's not just the guitar solo because Pink Floyd puts on a live show like no one else!! I mean no one else is even close. The reason I say that is the equipment and production for that Pulse concert cost 98 million dollars in 1994 money!!! Last comment here...... When I say greatest guitar solo that's not coming from me! It's coming from a lot of opinion polls and music magazines as well!!!
@@benaiah2119 I think you were born in “ wish you were here “ time. One important thing about this album, that is the only one placed on the board of a space object in the world and still flying in the universe on the board of Voyager one!
Broadly the band was:- Roger Waters - Bass Guitar / Vocals and Lyrics Dave Gilmour - Lead Guitar /Vocals Richard Wright - Keyboards /Vocals Nick Mason - Drums
This is one of only 4 albums recorded in quadrophonic (as opposed to steriophonic), ever. It was a masterpiece of engineering as well as a masterpiece in every other way.
You have to listen to the album in one hit. The songs bleed into each other. Don't talk. Don't pause. Don't record yourself. Just put headphones on & listen to it complete. Just for yourself. You will never forget it. I'm old enough to remember when it came it out in '72. It stayed on the charts for 2.5 years. Everyone one on the planet should hear this once. My call - the best album of the last 70 years.
Pink Floyd is Legendary, they are on another level altogether! Pink Floyd is an English Rock band formed in London in 1964, they have sold hundreds of millions of albums worldwide. They are one of the most successful, innovated, elaborate, prosperous Rock bands in the history of the genre. David Gilmour is the guitarist and lead singer of Pink Floyd, he joined the band in 1967. And yes, he has the unique ability to seemingly speak through his guitar. He is one of the GOATs of Rock guitarists, and PF fans have a rule when listening to Pink Floyd,.... ... Never,... ever,... EVER,... pause or talk over a David Gilmour solo! Lol
Pink Floyd are brilliantly different. The guy on guitar is the legendary David Gimore and vocals.bass Roger Waters vocals and lyrics, keyboards Richard Wright drums nick Mason.this is one track from their mega selling album Dark side of the moon ,when I.said mega selling.its the third highest selling album of all time. 11:03
Pink Floyd music is so ethereal. These guys and the Moody Blues had the most transcendental music back in the old days. They were two of the top progressive bands. It was almost mandatory to smoke a little herb before listening to either. My favorite album by Floyd is 'Meddle', and I would suggest doing 'Echoes' from that album. It'll send you beyond Earth's orbit!
It's sacrilege to pause a Pink Floyd song. You must let yourself be carried away by the music, you will enter a tunnel that will take you directly to your inner being 🧠
FYI, this album stayed on the Billboard charts for 14 years, and still sells around 8,000 copies on an average day. In this incarnation... Guitars - David Gilmour (perhaps the greatest ever) Bass - Roger Waters (primary Lyricist) Keys - Richard Wright RIP (one of the best as well) Drums - Nick Mason (a very creative force holding up the background) Everything they put in is intentional, and has a specific purpose.
There’s a fantastic live version of this at the Pulse concert…not sure why you couldn’t find it. 🔥🔥🔥 Two lead singers on this song - David Gilmour on guitar and Rick Wright on keys.
I actually disagree with this. So many songs from the Pulse show are the gold standard . For me, the studio version of Time has never been topped. But it's splitting hairs.
🤗 Subbed for your PF Journey! 🥰 Pulse PF Concert videos are what most folks react to. I saw the Pulse show in NJ cause🙄 getting MSG tickets were just not happening. Pulled in to Port Authority then headed straight to MSG where I should have been hours ago! 😂 Slept out for Prince 'Love Sexy Tour' tickets! 🤭 That's what we did before computers & Internet. 🤣It was cool having "the Tri-State Area" as my local Venue. 🤗 Especially after I started working so I didn't have to beg mommy for $ to go see (fill in the blank). 😏 So weird watching folks react to shows I was at in JHS & HS (Zep shows at MSG) or later as an Accountant (all the MTV Unplugged Shows). 😍 Adore watching folks fall in love with 😉my friends and sharing reaction videos.
Released in 1973, my kinda boyfriend turned me onto this when I was a sophomore in high school around 1074. He was older, so I went with him to the house he was renting with some other guys, we smoked some pot, and I laid down between the speakers to get the full effect. (No, we were not sexual. I was too young.) But oh my god! This has ALWAYS been my favorite album (and I'm a Swiftie). Do yourself a favor and sit and listen to the entire album. I haven't smoked since I joined the Marines when I was 20. You don't need any substances to listen. 😂❤
I'm sure this has already been suggested: get yourself a dark room, great headphones, and listen to this album from start to finish uninterrupted and then do the same thing with Wish You Were Here.
You need to listen to and watch the Pulse concert. Every song and visual is amazing. Probably still the best live show ever performed and they didn't use led screens, all done with lighting. Also notice it was 1994 and no one had a cell phone they were actually living in the moment not recording it.
You are not the first person to say that David Gilmour's guitar is how he sings. It honestly is. I mean he's also singing, and his voice is magical, but his guitar is truly how he speaks.
Think the guitar sang then, you've heard nothing yet until you've heard their "shine on you crazy diamond" from their "Wish you were here" album. But the real proper way to listen to Pink Floyd's concept albums such as The Dark Side Of the Moon, Wish You Were Here is to listen to the whole album in one sitting. This is because the album isn't a collection of little diddys, but an interconnected whole. Hearing the songs individually will never really make any sense because they're taken out of the context of the concept album which is based on a particular narrative.
😊 Looking forward to your PF Journey! DSoTM Album is something I think you'll appreciate after watching your reaction to Time. 🤔 Also secretly hoping for a Rush reaction. 😀 Only because I think you'll dig the dynamics Alex brings to his 🎸 Guitar work, after what you said about Dave's guitar in this musical piece. 🤗 Both guys tend to make their guitars "sing" 😂 except Dave Gilmour gives his Guitar 'backing vocals' too. 🥰🐰
How rich is that title at any level : music, lyrics, rythm, counter rythm, pauses, story, scenario, duration, style, skill… It’s phenomenal, as difficult to create and perform as a classic simphony. "Dark side of the moon" is a masterpiece, maybe above all concept albums of that era, like some from The Who, or David Bowie, or The Velvet underground, The Doors,… I could add a lot of perfect albums, but one recently remind me, it’s "War" by U2, not a single bad title in this album.
This album was Grammy-nominated for engineering back in 1973. That's David Gilmour on guitar. For more magic Guitar try "A Great Day For Freedom", live in Gdansk, this live solo ranks in a top 5 Gilmour solos..also the song "Money", David has an epic guitar solo to team with Dick Parry for a filthy Sax solo, radio versions of this song don't play this
Try "Comfortably Numb" next. You should do the studio version first, then check out the live Pulse version from 1994... It will blow you away. David Gilmour is one of the greatest guitarists of all time. He's also the primary lead vocalist on many of their biggest hits, but also shares vocals with the band's bassist and lyricist Roger Waters. P. S. Cool samurai face. 😏
I disagree on the live, Pink Floyd was a studio band, even though their live shows were spectacular it's hard to get the magic they had in those studios on a live stage.

Dude if you want to hear his best guitar solo on comfortably numb you have to listen to the Pompeii live version
This album is 50 years old, and still rated as the best ever made by an awful lot of people. It's the fourth best-selling album of all time.
Wish you were here is better but I agree it’s a beautiful piece of art.

Yes, but this album will keep selling and selling from generation to generation. It will be the number one of all time eventually.
The Dark Side Of The Moon has been on the Billboard 200 for 977 weeks and counting.
Broadly the band was:-
Roger Waters - Bass Guitar / Vocals and Lyrics
Dave Gilmour - Lead Guitar /Vocals
Richard Wright - Keyboards /Vocals

Pink Floyd is in my blood since 1968. I saw them 5 times. First concert in Montreal (1971).
This is one of only 4 albums recorded in quadrophonic (as opposed to steriophonic), ever. It was a masterpiece of engineering as well as a masterpiece in every other way.
Also played live in quad since 73
The older you get the more sense the lyrics make
Buckle up your seat Dorethy coz Kansas is about to go bye bye
Gods playing to Gods
Pink Floyd "Echoes" (Part 1) live at Pompeii 1972
There is MUCH MUCH MORE!
Happy times to experience Pink Floyd

It's been said that David Gilmore plays the notes you didn't know you needed to hear.

The next Pink Floyd song to listen to is The Great Gig in the Sky.
david gilmour can make his guitar speak as deeply as his lyrics.
You said it spot on when you stated it was like he was singing with the guitar that’s what they do .

Pink Floyd great music and lyrics for the head
You sir are a man of culture and magnificent taste in music 🤌
David Gimour is the guitarist (and singer) - the album is 50 sum odd years old and still sooooo amazing....!
It's very comforting to see someone 'get' this music the same way people 'got' it back in 1975. Enjoy this timeless music on your Pink Floyd journey.
Lead Guitar/Vocals (and way more): David Gilmore. Pulse (Live) Keep Talking one of my favorites.
Think your ready for Yes the ultimate prog rock band. Song called Roundabout is a great start. Love your open ears and enjoy the prog journey. 🙏🍁
There’s a fantastic live version of this at the Pulse concert…not sure why you couldn’t find it. 🔥🔥🔥 Two lead singers on this song - David Gilmour on guitar and Rick Wright on keys.

@@bighousegroove I agree. I was just telling him there is a live version. The Great Gig in the Sky original can’t be topped, either, in my opinion.
Great to hear! The 1970’s had no internet, no cell phones. They had time to create great art.
Time нужно слушать исключительно вместе с Great Gig...
The Great Gig In The Sky has to be the original studio version. The vocalist was a one time guest and the live isn't even close.

never stop the solo
Anything from the PULSE concert is a winner.
The Sound Engineers purposely panned the Guitar of David Gilmour. It's called 'Panning'. Pink Floyd are TRULY G.O.A.T.S. ..!!!
David Gilmour is both the lead singer and lead guitarist for the song Time.
Comfortably Numb - 1994 PULSE Tour at Earl's Court

do studio first. these ppl who recommend live have listened to the studio hundreds of times already.
Please react to Barcelona Gipsy Klezmer Band- Djelem Djelem, or another song of them- Lulé
Take up the challenge, do a song that has similar sound. Times gone by could do it why not now?
Give all music a go at least once
Listen to the entire album..it s a concept album..each song was purposely written to blend into the next ..

NO! You should listen to the studio versions first and then do the live versions. Trust me on this.
Oh dear you stopped it when the master was playing the solo....tut tut
get rid of the ear buds, get some large real headphones to listen to Pink Floyd. It really helps................Really!
Nope, Studio first. Peace/JT
'Whoever is playing guitar' ??? Seriously ? Why didn't you just find out before listening ?
For Your Information , It's Against The Law To Pause Or Talk Over A David Gilmore Guitar Solo. Don't Do It.
