Yes Pink Floyd followed The Dark Side of the Moon with the album "Wish You Were Here" a tribute celibating the life of former band member Syd Barrett and mourning losing him to severe mental health issues and the effects of drug abuse. During recording, a fat bald man with shaved off eyebrows walked into the recording studio. It took several minutes before they realised this was their old dear friend Syd. Roger Waters broke down and cried when he saw what Syd had become.
There is "Music" and there is "Pink Floyd". They brings you somewhere out of your body! Pink Floyd made me fly for the last 55 years and I've been bless for that!
The thing with Floyd is that they let their music breathe, their attention to detail they're not afraid to experiment and no two albums sound the same.
Keep going. "Wish You Were Here" full album next. Arguably the greatest musicians/composers and lyricist in Rock. And their follow-up album to this is every bit as good, perhaps even better. Go for it. And follow your own suggestion... Just kick back and let it flow. You will forget where you are. 🤟👍
Excellent reaction. You got my S/Like. People say you should listen to this while on some mind altering substance. PF is my substance. When I get tired of being on this planet, I just jump on the PF aural orgasm train to wherever the F••• it takes me.
You're right about it being music because they aren't singing about how rich they were the girls, they have big cars, no, they sing about the human condition and about what everybody goes through from birth to death!! That's why it will be played a thousand years from now with Mozart and Beethoven some other groups like The Beatles and led Zeppelin & they've just become a part of our planet!! David Gilmour Pink Floyd's lead guitarist lead singer at 78 years old is touring right now still putting out new music!!
😂 Im secretly pulling for Animals (🐖, 🐑 & 🐕's) or Echoes Live in Pompeit (Pts 1+2). But looks like its going to be Wish You Were Here and 😍 Im okay with that! 🥰🐰
Pretty sure this is the first time I've stumbled across your channel and this was a fantastic reaction! Not everyone gets Floyd in the way they do their thing, but you get it. Just about every Floyd album is meant to be heard in one sitting like this, and I guarantee you if you do every Floyd album as a whole (split by album side), those videos will be watched by tonnes. I definitely recommend you hit 1975's Wish You Were Here as an album reaction next. Both David and Richard have gone on record saying that's their favorite album. Just to answer a few questions you had in these videos, David plays all the guitars and sings the majority of the album, Richard sings the chorus on Time and plays all the keys, Roger sings the last two tracks, writes the lyrics and plays bass, and Nick plays all the drums and percussion. The first half of Dark Side takes the listener through one cycle of life, from birth to death. The second half deals with the pressures of life. Greed (Money), war and divisiveness (Us And Them), poverty and letting an old man die of hunger because you're too busy to help (the last verse of Us And Them, fate vs choice (Any Colour You Like), Mental health & insanity (Brain Damage), and the culmination of it all (Eclipse).
Enjoyed your reaction, may I suggest that you check out their 1994 Pulse concert at Earls Court, enjoy the visuals with the music, the Pink Floyd rabbit hole runs deep and I hope you continue to see how far it goes, God Bless
Hi, CV. No wonder it was so hard to concentrate on school work back then. The spectacular music would transport you away to a place beyond words... A little bit of attitude adjustment didn't hurt either. Thanks for taking me back. We're all in this together. 🧡
Actually, Floyd was also very much about lyrics - they were/are a very cerebral band, tackling the deeper subjects - the human condition, essentially. Never with a preachy feeling, though. If you continue exploring their music, you'll notice that, like this, their albums are concept albums. Not to downplay their music - again, like nothing else. Also, once you've gotten a decent amount of Floyd under your belt (studio albums), check out the Pulse concert of 1994 - OMG - almost thirty years since they first formed and playing like 25-year olds!
At the start of "Us and Them", that IS a sax. A song mainly about war and injustice in society. Loved your reaction! I also love the song "Any Colour You Like!" I think the next logical step would be to listen (and react) to "Wish You Were Here" album.
I've been watching Pink Floyd reaction videos for years now and I have always wondered if they ever went on to show people they know in their personal lives..
Floyd are a funny band, at first they didnt rock hard enough, or not enough punk attitude, or the musicianship wasnt dynamic enough, and then you find 10yrs have passed behind you. You missed the starting gun. Now they are easily my favourite band......and the next closest is zep but they are a distant ship on the horizon, and receding.......set the controls for the heart of the sun. Great reaction, you will love floyd. Their 70's run is unmatched but there are absolute gems amongst their early 60s output when they were more experimental. My favourite album of alltime is their album Animals, its a slow, meandering beast of an album. Give it a whirl or as others have said give wywh(more musicality) a go.
I think you've been inside my head... I agree with every word. I probably listened more to Led Zeppelin during the 70s, but since the 90s PF has dominated. Maybe Ren is uppermost now, but I still listen to PF most days.
Pink Floyd, at one time, was more known as acid rockers, head musicians; with their maturation, they've become "the thinking person's rock band." Some of their albums could be the basis for a high-school or even college-level psychology course, perhaps even a sociology class; dare I suggest a creative writing course?! Lyric analysis is now a must to get to the crux of many PF tunes. And don't forget their musical, compositional talents; so, definitely, music majors in college would benefit from deep analysis of PF's music. "Us and Them" goes from churchy to operatic, quite a span of genres.
I’m 69 years old. I still remember the first time I heard this album. A guy in college bought it and dropped the needle on Thai first track and we listened straight through. Blown away. No telling how many hundreds of times I’ve listened to it in the last fifty years. Best way is in the evening, in a recliner, lights down low, with a glass of good bourbon.
Personally, I cannot WAIT for Florida to legalize pot. I'll revert to my college days the as soon as the law decriminalizes and legalizes. My second childhood? A nice spliff AND a bourbon maybe!!!
The best Album of all time. Introduced to them by my brother way back in 1976. More relevant today than ever before. People listen, I mean it’s really time to listen … before it’s too late!! ⏰🌏💥
Great reaction! You are right, this album is really and experience and I'm sure you will enjoy listening to this over and over like I have for 40+ years.
It never fails. At first every first timer starts out with "what tha' hell" Then they get suck into that rabbit hole. Never to be the same again.......................
Hey, I like that you're taking the time to hit upon some of the lyrics; most reviewers are so overtaken by the DSOTM music that they hardly ever mention them. Since you are a sucker for the sax, you will like their "Wish You Were Here" album.
If you're looking for more words from Pink Floyd, react to Animals. They have a lot to say in that one. I mentioned my current favourite artist in a reply to another comment. Ren is a 34 year old Welsh artist/singer/songwriter/rapper/producer/ director. His versatility is amazing and he has the same outlook about the human condition and society as Pink Floyd. The song that has introduced Ren to the world is Hi Ren. It's not my favourite of his, but it's the one that tells you most about his backstory, which is complicated and could be sad, except that it has made him produce some astounding music. I look forward to seeing you react to him. His fan's, the Renegades, are prone to massively increasing subscription numbers, they're so keen😂
You should check the lyrics out, the album is a concept album about humanity from birth to death, greed, conflict and division, mental issues, and the circular concept of life. Starts with a heartbeat ends with a heartbeat.
I had to laugh when you said that next time when playing the album for others for them to shutup and just listen, allowing yourself to be taken into a musical experience; So many times I've said that out loud myself when viewing others doing reactions on Pink Floyd because they're talking more than they're listening.
They take their time with the songs, no rushing like today. Try any of the live songs from the pulse concert in 1994, you will be amazed how ahead of their time they were.
For awhile there was a record company that turned out Dark Side of the Moon albums only, I think for more than one year, to keep up with the demand for the music. I've probably listened to it many hundreds of times in the last 50 years.
Longtime PF fan. Go down the PF rabbit hole, you'll get Floyded soon enough if this didn't do it! Wish You Were Here, the following album, just as great! Then Animals and The Wall! 1st time Ive caught your podcast, had to subscibe. You appreciate music and PF has a lot of it. Lyrics are very important as well to PF. The guitar god is David Gilmour who pulls it out of his soul! Hope you do more!
Yep, Floyd had alot of Saxophone parts in their music. David Gilmour is the guitarist. In my opinion, one of the best. The best guitar solo ever is the 2nd guitar solo in Comfortably Numb. There are 3 living PF members: David Gilmour, Nick Mason, and Roger Waters (although he left them at one point). Syd Barrett and Richard Wright are the only 2 that have passed.
If the band you're in starts playing different tunes. Sid Barrett was prone to playing different songs to the ones being performed, when he was going through his breakdown. David Gilmour joined to help then took Sid's place when he stopped turning up. The rest is history.
Any Colour You like, was a jame they would play in their concerts back in the day before it had a name, some of the most beautiful jamming can be heard in some bootleg versions of early PF concerts. One from Brighton comes to mind thats here on you tube.
Get the newest Dolby Atmos surround mix. Pink Floyd always performed in surround sound live in concert...mind blowing. And yes, the Dark Side of the Moon is the best album ever recorded sonically and lyrics wise...
Just stop and think about this great album. It came out on March First 1973. It spent 749 weeks on the billboard top two hundred! The band members were Roger Walters, bass guitar and lead songwriter, David Gilmore lead guitarist and lead singer. Richard Write keyboard, whom is no longer with us. Last and not least is on the drums Nick Mason! You are right to play this on a quad speaker system I know for a fact it will blow you away!
In an interview Dave Gilmour said about Any Colour You Like "sometimes it's great to just play" I think when making a studio album there's lots and lots of little riffs and breaks that you have to do several times and it seems Any Colour was a rare chance to just flow😂
David Gilmour is the lead guitarist he does all of the solos. The great gig in the sky is about the death of somebody and the woman crying about the death. My suggestion, if you were really into this music, you really need to look at and listen to Pink Floyd1994 pulse concert listen to all of the songs they’re all fantastic, but especially comfortably, numb, and sorrow the guitar in those two songs will literally blow you away. oh and by the way, the girl that sings in the great gig in the sky is a white girl. And if you really want to hear a fantastic guitar player, who is one of the best if not the best you have to look at Stevie Ray Vaughan Texas flood in concert
A multichannel SA-CD version of this album exists and sounds incredible. You should get a copy to listen to it on your surround sound system. Thanks for the reaction...awesome.
Pink Anderson Floyd Council Two great Blues musicians to which the band was named after. First became a fan of Pink Floyd in 1968. Had the opportunity to see five of their concerts. One of those was twice. Momentary Lapse of Reason they performed a encore the following night. Many of us enjoyed our first listen kick back with a doobie and talking. Nothing but the headphones. Echoes live at Pompeii. AI has taken the making movies of some of the Pink Floyd albums. It's in the same flavor of the old psychedelic but AI moved the graphics to a whole new level. Somehow it knows what an acid trip was like.lol If you should choose to do Wish You Were Here, it is also a concept album. And has a nice Scott Page Alto sax solo. If you like sax solos listen to Low Spark High Heeled Boys from Traffic Steve Winwood. Traffic is another band that will take you on a journey.... 🚜🤠🐂
Only Pink Floyd member to have passed on is Richard Wright who plays the keyboards David Gilmour is your guitar player extraordinaire. Although you didn't. Some listeners react poorly if you interrupt a Gilmore solo. Just a warning. I don't care cuz I've heard them all thousands of times, but...lol
8:02 music in early 70s, pop hits also, has changed (maybe with a little contribution by Beatles and Rolling Stones and David Bowie and Elton John and ... please stop me! 😁) Actually in 1973 only singer-songwriter (Bob Dylan, Neil Young etc) talked about "people". Prog Rock (ELP, Genesis, Yes, Van der graaf generator and I do it: Pink Floyd) doesn't care about common sense, they made music because they liked it (and people too). This album is a concept about a person and himself: thoughts, overall, without political schemes. And music to spread.
Not sure if you missed the most important line of the album listening to the lady sing . It was all about the mental health of their band members. And if the band your in starts playing different Tunes we`ll see you on the Dark Side of the Moon
Definitely follow up with the album "Wish You Were Here" but if you want to see the guys playing "back in the day" live in an ancient Roman Amphitheatre with No Audience, No Lights, No Pyrotechnics just Gods playing to the Gods Pink Floyd "Echoes (Part 1)" live at Pompeii 1972 (I suggest find a Part 1 video gor a reaction, as Part 2 has a long "soundscape" start and the track in total is around 23 minutes)
The music is great but listen carefully to the lyrics - they are as much a part of this album (LP in '73) as the music. They are integral to the sound. BTW - a great review. I saw them perform this in quad at the Liverpool Empire in 1974 which included early versions of their next album Wish You Were Here, another classic
Great reaction to the best album ever made, sir. Next was Wish You Were Here 1975. Just sayin'. 😊
It is indeed the best album ever made, but my favorite is still Animals.
David Gilmour is the guitar master
Great reaction, Wish You Were Here, you will love it
Yes Pink Floyd followed The Dark Side of the Moon with the album "Wish You Were Here" a tribute celibating the life of former band member Syd Barrett and mourning losing him to severe mental health issues and the effects of drug abuse.

Pink Floyd made me fly for the last 55 years and I've been bless for that!
PINK FLOYD is a great book for your ears
Love the reaction to your experience. It gets better, the deeper you go! I suggest you do Wish You Were Here next...
This is all about the Music and not about the musicians themselves unlike nowadays. You are quite right. Great reaction.
The thing with Floyd is that they let their music breathe, their attention to detail they're not afraid to experiment and no two albums sound the same.
Well, the Wall was kinda about Roger so....
Keep going. "Wish You Were Here" full album next. Arguably the greatest musicians/composers and lyricist in Rock. And their follow-up album to this is every bit as good, perhaps even better. Go for it. And follow your own suggestion... Just kick back and let it flow. You will forget where you are. 🤟👍
Pink Floyd lead guitarist is David Gilmour... Among the greatest of all time. He's also the lead vocalist for most of the album.
Exactly. Don’t talk, just listen. Unless you have to ask - Are you going to pass that or just hold it?
Excellent reaction. You got my S/Like.
People say you should listen to this while on some mind altering substance.
PF is my substance.
When I get tired of being on this planet, I just jump on the PF aural orgasm train to wherever the F••• it takes me.

David’s new album is amazing. The more I listen to it the better it gets.
Roger Waters is still touring and lets not forget they are his lyrics
It doesn't get better than Pink Floyd, unless it's Pink Floyd live. I hope you keep listening to their music. 💗🤘
😂 Im secretly pulling for Animals (🐖, 🐑 & 🐕's) or Echoes Live in Pompeit (Pts 1+2). But looks like its going to be Wish You Were Here and 😍 Im okay with that! 🥰🐰
Be patient, there's plenty of time for Animals, he needs to build up some immunity. Don't want him to OD on Pink Floyd
Pretty sure this is the first time I've stumbled across your channel and this was a fantastic reaction! Not everyone gets Floyd in the way they do their thing, but you get it. Every time you listen it gets better and better - you see the depths you miss previous times
David Gilmour on guitar, Nick Mason Drums, Rick Wright keys, Roger Waters lyrics/bass. Lead vocals by both Gilmour and Waters

Very good reaction, you got Pink Floyed, big time, good for you
It's a GOOD THING to get infected with Pink Floyd. No vaccination needed if you catch PF no matter what the government suggests!
I've been watching Pink Floyd reaction videos for years now and I have always wondered if they ever went on to show people they know in their personal lives..
Gteat times growing ip listening to the best music of the seventies great times indeed!
Three of the four classic lineup of Pink Floyd are still very much alive and kicking. Only Richard Wright the keyboardist has left us.
A really great reaction. Thank you. You listened. Great job. You will, without a doubt, become a fan of Pink Floyd, their music is incredible. Enjoy.
Alan Parsons' engineering of this album is among the greatest of all time, in any genre.
Floyd are a funny band, at first they didnt rock hard enough, or not enough punk attitude, or the musicianship wasnt dynamic enough, and then you find 10yrs have passed behind you. You missed the starting gun.

Allan Parsons needs big credit on this Masterpiece
By far the best album of all time. The very definition of a Masterpiece.
The best Album of all time. Introduced to them by my brother way back in 1976. More relevant today than ever before. People listen, I mean it’s really time to listen … before it’s too late!! ⏰🌏💥

It never fails.
At first every first timer starts out with "what tha' hell" Then they get suck into that rabbit hole. Never to be the same again.......................
I glad you are enjoying good music
You can thank the unofficial 5th member of the band the sound engineer Allen Parsons for the mix, pure genius!
Hey, I like that you're taking the time to hit upon some of the lyrics; most reviewers are so overtaken by the DSOTM music that they hardly ever mention them. Since you are a sucker for the sax, you will like their "Wish You Were Here" album.

I agree with everyone else, "Wish You Were Here" should be next. Been a Floydian for 50 years and they are, were and always will be my favorite band.
I can’t wait for you to hear their album “Wish You Were Here.”
money!!
That sad on money just adds so much swagger ❤❤❤love it
You should check the lyrics out, the album is a concept album about humanity from birth to death, greed, conflict and division, mental issues, and the circular concept of life. Starts with a heartbeat ends with a heartbeat.
Any Pink Floyd song is easy to relate to 😁🖖👌✌️🤟🤙👍
I had to laugh when you said that next time when playing the album for others for them to shutup and just listen, allowing yourself to be taken into a musical experience; So many times I've said that out loud myself when viewing others doing reactions on Pink Floyd because they're talking more than they're listening.
Hope you are enjoying your rollercoaster ride
Best album side ever on the best album ever….
You don’t listen to Floyd you FEEL IT!
Check out the live pulse concert from 1994. Over the top!!!
They take their time with the songs, no rushing like today. Try any of the live songs from the pulse concert in 1994, you will be amazed how ahead of their time they were.
will do
For awhile there was a record company that turned out Dark Side of the Moon albums only, I think for more than one year, to keep up with the demand for the music. I've probably listened to it many hundreds of times in the last 50 years.
Love the (possibly inadvertent?) reference to I'm Gonna Get You Sucka... with Any Colour You Like as the soundtrack for walking.
I grow up listening to heavy metal and still listening to age 64
Longtime PF fan. Go down the PF rabbit hole, you'll get Floyded soon enough if this didn't do it! Wish You Were Here, the following album, just as great! Then Animals and The Wall! 1st time Ive caught your podcast, had to subscibe. You appreciate music and PF has a lot of it. Lyrics are very important as well to PF. just found your channel and loved your reaction. the lyrics tell a story, and the music takes you there.
Yep!
That's what pink floyd does!! It makes you listen to real music.
Claire Tory did Great Gig… that was it… other singers in background on the Album
If the band you're in starts playing different tunes. Sid Barrett was prone to playing different songs to the ones being performed, when he was going through his breakdown. David Gilmour joined to help then took Sid's place when he stopped turning up. The rest is history.
you're perfect techy babe. you got it. nothing more needs to be said.
Like your reacton to good music
Any Colour You like, was a jame they would play in their concerts back in the day before it had a name, some of the most beautiful jamming can be heard in some bootleg versions of early PF concerts. One from Brighton comes to mind thats here on you tube.
Get the newest Dolby Atmos surround mix. Pink Floyd always performed in surround sound live in concert...mind blowing. And yes, the Dark Side of the Moon is the best album ever recorded sonically and lyrics wise...
Shine on you crazy diamond 1-5 if you like the sax 😊
But definitely don't neglect parts 6-9
There is a making of documentary. and if you can, look for the quadraphonic mix, an early 70's version of surround sound.
The lunitic is my head, you raise the blade, you make the change. Sorry for being real, they are talking about a fontal lobotomy.
50+ years since Dark Side dropped back when musicians, not machines, created music. Drop back a notch and check out their Meddle album. Cheers....
It's actually spent 1,000 weeks on the Billboard Charts.
@@thegroovetube3247 This album is still on a chart somewhere in the world today , it still charts in 2024 that is amazing for what is imo goat
Awesome reaction mate. More of THAT if you care too?
You nailed it...(near the end) don't talk just listen. Read the other comments. Follow their suggestions.
In an interview Dave Gilmour said about Any Colour You Like "sometimes it's great to just play"
I think when making a studio album there's lots and lots of little riffs and breaks that you have to do several times and it seems Any Colour was a rare chance to just flow😂
My favorite song on this great album 💗🤘
@@angelagraves865There’s a live version that is much longer and it is fantastic.
You mentioned surround sound. Back in the day this was also released on quadraphonic, a short lived format.
Dogs of War from the Delicate Sound of Thunder concert has a sax solo that'll melt your face off 🎷💗🤘
If you love any color, the album Echoes live at Pompeii next🔥🤘✌
David Gilmour is the lead guitarist he does all of the solos. The great gig in the sky is about the death of somebody and the woman crying about the death. My suggestion, if you were really into this music, you really need to look at and listen to Pink Floyd1994 pulse concert listen to all of the songs they’re all fantastic, but especially comfortably, numb, and sorrow the guitar in those two songs will literally blow you away. oh and by the way, the girl that sings in the great gig in the sky is a white girl. I'm sendiìng you a postcard. 'Wish you were here' bach.
Love from Wales ❤
Wish You Were Here is another masterpiece that should be done in one listen as is Animals and The Wall.
Although this album is a master piece it’s just the tip of the iceberg . 👏
A multichannel SA-CD version of this album exists and sounds incredible. You should get a copy to listen to it on your surround sound system.
Thanks for the reaction...awesome.
In short supply and hard to find without paying a very hefty price. I keep my one and only copy in a locked box
Pink Anderson
Floyd Council
Two great Blues musicians to which the band was named after.
Somehow it knows what an acid trip was like.lol
If you should choose to do Wish You Were Here, it is also a concept album. And has a nice Scott Page Alto sax solo.
If you like sax solos listen to Low Spark High Heeled Boys from Traffic Steve Winwood.
Traffic is another band that will take you on a journey....
🚜🤠🐂
Only Pink Floyd member to have passed on is Richard Wright who plays the keyboards
David Gilmour is your guitar player extraordinaire.
Although you didn't. Some listeners react poorly if you interrupt a Gilmore solo.
Just a warning. I don't care cuz I've heard them all thousands of times, but...lol
The first track always reminds me of dust til dawn film 🤣
Now for the Wish You Were Here album next. It’s the album that followed DSOTM.
Animals, wish you were here. Definitely. :)
Never every stop a solo
Not sure if you missed the most important line of the album listening to the lady sing . It was all about the mental health of their band members. And if the band your in starts playing different Tunes we`ll see you on the Dark Side of the Moon
Definitely follow up with the album "Wish You Were Here"
but if you want to see the guys playing "back in the day" live in an ancient Roman Amphitheatre with No Audience, No Lights, No Pyrotechnics just Gods playing to the Gods
Pink Floyd "Echoes (Part 1)" live at Pompeii 1972
(I suggest find a Part 1 video gor a reaction, as Part 2 has a long "soundscape" start and the track in total is around 23 minutes)
As great as that one is, the studio version is better.
Open your mind
Atom Heart Mother is the next thing that you should listen to.
The music is awesome for sure but the lyrics are highly important. And the Sun is Eclipsed by the Moon. Dick Parry on saxophone.
Interesting how times change... what you call 'sampling' was, when this album was created, called Stealing.
I see YOU all on the dark side.........
Check my comments from part one of this video!🙂
CLARE TORRY ha interpretato solo THE GREAT GIG IN THE SKY e non ha partecipato ad altri brani
Le altre voci femminili sono delle coriste di studio.
actually the verse should read "the love of money is the root of all evil"
it's a big difference.
This album was 'on the charts' for over 14 YEARS. Not hard to see/hear why.
