intel stock coolers do SUCK. too loud and they dont keep the cpu cool as good as they should. but if you have no choice the pins should not have to be turned out of the box and just need to pushed down to be locked in. you only should have to turn the pins when you are removing or reinstalling the cooler. but at the end of the day you did put it in the right place ;)

i cannot believe ppl watch this guy to learn how to build a pc. Like at 59 min struggling to install the cooler pressing the fan in while not making space for the pin on the back side of the board hes basically pressing the pins into the table top and going duhhhh why wont it go in....then at the same time saying ohhh cool perfect fan cable length and not realizing you need to untwist the wire from its frame the frigen wires were touching the fan blades. he has zero zero zero basic understanding or ability to use comman since! Your issue was if your board is sitting flat on the tableand your pushhing stuff all the way thru the board there needs to be SPACE on the backside of the board DUHH
