Ahh! This is the first time anyone has even mentioned 'The Cat From Outer Space' in passing in any media YT videos I've watched and it made my day. I recently started collecting DVD/BluRay again and it was one of my first pickups this year. It's such a charming little movie. What a treat to see it's included in the shop's VHS collection ^_^
It was awesome, and Rob… he really does know his 80s movies. Honestly I could have spent all day there chatting to him about these things. Maybe there will be another look around there of some kind in a future video 🤷🏼♂️

I love that the items can get a second lease of life. Think I have a slight hoarding mentality and like that there’s a use for everything. I’m going to make sure I revisit again soon. They keep changing up their shelves so there’s always something to rediscover.
You should have taken him a laserdisc!! He must have loved pan and scan 🤣 to possess all them VHS!! Format joke aside, it looked a great shop. I used to own a lot of those WWF wrestling VHS tapes. They were notorious for mould and having lines on the screen.
I actually had some laserdisc to one side for him. Completely forgot to take them. All though the car was pretty packed with the TVs too. He had one of the wrestling videos playing while I was there. Think he manages to clean a good few of them up nicely. I’ll take the laserdiscs on another visit for sure. Good excuse to get back there.

Loved seeing the place on a video rather than photos - the guys seem very like minded to myself - love the dedication to preserving the memories of the pre Blockbuster Video store era - will be visiting this store if I am ever up that way, unfortunately it’s the other side of the country for me

Gives me a nice excuse to visit them again. Next time I will be making purchases… completely spaced and missed picking up anything on this occasion. They have a big event on October were other retailers of VHS and 80s stuff are invited to sell there. Going to make sure I pop along to that.

I have no idea in terms of what’s rare or collectable at the moment… but having the video shop close by I’m starting to see little trends among collectors. $180 is a mighty high price tag 🏷️ any temptation to look at selling or is it a special collector item for you ?

I think I may have to try and do a couple of videos at the same time. One I’ll take the time and do with the new software (might take a few weeks) and the other I’ll keep doing on my phone to try and maintain weekly videos.

I have a vhs label called Monterrey Midnight Madness and a title called 1962s Freddie Francis the brain. Its worth AUD $180 on ebay.

Those horror titles are the ones that seem to stand the test of time with cost and value. Some are really pricey. Have you got your ‘grail’ titles ?
