Roumie just did a conference this weekend (National Eucharistic Conference in Indianapolis) where he said they filmed the Last Supper last week. He also did a dramatic reading of John 6 in character. It's worth looking up the video.
It’s so weird and hard to understand how He could be a believer in the odd man made up teachings of the Catholic Church, while doing this in depth role with the biblical teachings of the Bible, which is so opposite of the what Catholicism teaches. They’re so opposite of one another.
Mark referring to himself as the young man running off naked in his gospel, was his photo bomb. It's like writers and directors doing cameos in their own work. Mark is just saying, hey I was actually there.
I always whimsically imagined it was the rich young man who finally decided to sell all he had down to the linen cloth, and was rewarded with witnessing this turning point (and finally losing his very last possession- the cloth itself!)
In our church, we wash each other's feet as a remembrance of our Baptismal Vows, and to humble ourselves with anyone we have any issues with--to resolve those issues in humility. We do this before we have the Communion service. It's more important to me than the Communion itself--it's like being baptized anew.

Hello I'm a Chosen Fan from the U.K. M Wales Prestatyn I understand from the Chosen book, the gospels in harmony. That Peter and John are near each other, because Peter signals to John to ask him toask Jesus who is going to betray Him.
Most of the information about John Mark is in the book of Acts and some of Paul's letters and thought to travel with Paul and Barnabas, but John Mark could not handle the hardships of being an evangelist, so Barnabas splits from Paul and takes John Mark with him. Eventually he becomes valuable to Paul but in the meantime he became Peter's scribe because John Mark could translate from Hebrew to Greek during Peter's time in the Roman empire and in Rome. It could be that after Peter and his wife were executed by Nero, he went to--or was arrested and imprisoned with Paul and helped the elder quite a bit. Paul was beheaded and John Mark was also executed around that same time. Paul may have been either executed the same year as Peter or two years later.

We celebrate the ordinance of humility to humble ourselves as Jesus did; to reconcile with someone we may have aught with, and as a renewal of our baptismal vows.
John and James were actually Jesus’ cousins. Their mother Salome was Jesus’ mother Mary’s sister.John was the youngest disciple and was probably only a teenager. He was the only one who followed Jesus into Caiaphas’ house (the high priest) because he was also related to Caiaphas and they would not have turned him away. Because Mary was his his aunt, Jesus asked John to take care of her. Mary lived with John the rest of her life.
I'll be glad to see my namesake in the Chosen I was named after Saint Mark, I think Mark was the young man in the garden , his mother named Mary Blessings and HUGS! Judas Iscariot aka PHANTOM STRANGER sat on his right betrayed King JESUS 👑💜
Good morning, thank you for this bts again! You made me surch on google about Mark.According to tradition, Mark is family of Barnabas, the one that has been with Jesus and the apostles and later accompanied Paul. The house of Marks family was used as a gathering place for the first Christians. Now I wonder, is Barnaby that Barnabas? What do you think?
It is very interesting that even though our Lord knows (In the Chosen) that Judas will betray him, that, he still is trying to save him until the very last moment. It is almost as though, our Lord can see more than one ending, as though, he knows he will be crucified regardless, but, Judas does not have to be the one to get him to that point, and our Lord will try to hold out hope for him bc he can actually see a scenario where Judas does repent and does not betray him. It kind of makes me think about us as people. Our Lord wants all of us, so so much, and holds out hope for us until the very end even if he knows that in the end many of us will not choose him. It is a kind of love that is amazing to me.
Yeah this is accurate to scripture as well. The Bible tells us that he knew from the beginning who would betray Him. Yet he still sent out Judas to heal, cast out Demons and Preach the Gospel.... mind blowing.
Mark, the Bible’s only streaker, was the one in a cloak quietly watching? That was my guess! “Now a certain young man followed Him, having a linen cloth thrown around his naked body. And the young men laid hold of him, and he left the linen cloth and fled from them naked.” ~ Mark 14:51-52 NKJV
That’s what church history affirms, I believe. Makes sense, too. I actually read somewhere that it’s possible that John Mark may have been the rich young ruler (I don’t remember where, though). I wish I remember the source, not sure what I think about it.
there are some theories that say that the last supper house is actually the house of Mary, the mother of John Mark. I don’t know if it’s true but it’s definitely interesting
He actually one of 70 disciples of Jesus that left Him after He said "I am the Bread of Life" (including Luke), and then, he came back to Jesus and provided his house to celebrate Last Supper and then the pentecost. And then, he together with Peter as he said in 1 Peter I believe. So it make sense that Mark writing his gospel with the help of Peter. (This recorded by one of the apostle’s disciple)
I think it’s quite bizarre that this guy knows more about the historical aspects of Jesus’s life . Accuracies that Dallas didn’t get right and he literally has an entire team of bible / historical “ experts ".
I think Dallas' team definitely knows these things but chose to go with their own creative license for the sake of the film. Some things and setups are deliberately used and created in order for the film to flow nicely when it is shot and edited after. Dallas talks about this a lot in the aftershows and Bible roundtables. I think these decisions are within reason though. They don't break the story and most especially they don't break or veer away from the scripture's message. The candles/oil lamps for example. I think the candles are there because it is more aesthetically fitting. The tables and chairs because maybe it looks more dramatic that way. That I do not know but it doesn't get in the way of the message, that's for sure.
It was surprising to me that Mark wrote a chapter of the gospels since he was not an apostle. Luke the same he was a doctor. I don’t know which apostle he followed, but he was also not an apostle, but wrote a chapter of the gospels!
But he is one of 70 disciples that left Jesus in John 6:60-70, including Luke. But they came back to Jesus later on. So it make sense that Mark and Luke can write their gospels, and of course with the help of the apostles too (In Mark's case, Peter himself).
On the table we see lamb meat, but we shouldn't, because John says that the Passover lambs were only sacrificed on Friday, while Jesus was crucified, so before that, on Thursday during the last supper there was no lamb.
Iirc, there were different dinners during the week of Passover and I’m not sure if they were eating the Passover lamb, or just lamb in general. It’s also possible that Jesus wanted to celebrate a day early before He died.
@@FollowingHimTheDiscipleLife John 19:14 says they were preparing the Passover (that means the priests were sacrificing the lambs), while Jesus was being judge by Pilate. So the day before that, when Jesus had the Last Supper, there was no lamb to eat yet.
@@d4vidsilva931, I see where one might think that. It’s pretty clear in Luke 22.15 that the meal known as “the Last Supper” was the Passover meal. I think the “character” in the Upper Room is a member of the crew, not Mark. I don’t think any character would wear a T-shirt, cargo shorts, and a radio.
You can have a pretty good idea on how Romans were eating at a triclinium in the old but excellent TV show "I, Claudius" with Dereck Jacobi. Most of the would be reclining on their bellies, the couches being themselves inclined. The tables would be at a lower level than the couches. It must have been a bit messy. I think I would have a hard time digesting in that position.
I have been wondering where the disciple Mark is up to this point. He seems to be more of a contemporary of the prominent writers (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). His importance seems equal to the rest, yet we haven't seen his character until now, which confuses me. So, are we to understand that scripturally, he didn't enter the "posse" until the time of The Last Supper? Thanks for finally bringing up the Mark character in the series!
What we know of John Mark, his mother was a widow, and they were pretty well off. So this family would have been able to host the last Passover supper for Jesus and His disciples. But I think they're (possibly on purpose) ignoring the fact that Jesus removed his tunic and mantle with only a covering not unlike what a slave wore for modesty, when He washed the disciples' feet. It was important for the host to provide a servant to wash the feet of the guests in order to not bring dirt into the house--especially on the Passover it was especially important because they had to clean the house top to bottom so that no dirt was in the house. It also the reason why Jesus overturned the tables in the Temple, because He was cleaning His Father's house in preparation for the Passover.
I wonder if they’d introduce Matthias. The one who replaced Judas as a disciple. Because he was there with the teachings of Jesus, as well as the crucifixion.
Wow, I just got this flash, what if you're right that the kid is Mark, and what if Mark is actually Telamacchus, who provided the fish and loaves? Could this be true? I've never yet fully read the bible.
I suppose we were never given the details because the main focus has always meant to be about Jesus and not his followers. Why do people always want to seek for more beyond what ought to be what's most important?
I would like to suggest that it might also be Matthias, who in Acts 1 was elected by the rest of the disciples to replace Judas to maintain 12 disciples. In Acts 1:21, Peter says "we must choose a replacement for Judas from among the men who were with us the entire time we were traveling the Lord." The snippet of Peter saying "never underestimate that kid..." could also be said of Matthias. So far in The Chosen we haven't seen either of the 2 men named as possible replacements-- it would make sense to introduce them in season 5 before Jesus is arrested. If not this character, it's seems like they should show up somewhere.
Matthias was there the entire time during Jesus' ministry though. that's the qualification for choosing him to be the replacement. We've been waiting for him to show up for years, but as far as we know right now he hasn't.
@@TheChosenSleuth So you think that he probably won't show up at all? You have extra insight because of being on set and the interviews you've done, and I'm out here just make stuff up 😁
I'm not so sure they would've been using a Roman style table/seating. It's clear historically and in Scripture that Jews in the 1st century did their best to not appear "Roman" in daily or religious practices, not in dress, etc. This only stands to reason that they wouldn't have a triclinium in their homes. Chairs may not have been in use but simply being seated on cushions at a table (as is still practiced in some cultures in the Middle East), on both sides, could allow accuracy of Scripture (w John reclining against Jesus) without it being Romanized. I don't see 1st century Jews participating in Roman culture of any kind.
Will The Chosen cover every incident mentioned in the Gospels? Like Zacheus, the demon possessed living in tombs, Jesus sleeping on the boat while the storm comes in etc
there are many things they probably will never cover, just because they only have so much time. Basically all the things they haven't gotten to before holy week are out of the question for the most part.

@@TheChosenSleuth Alright
I could be totally wrong here, but is it possible the setting up of this scene is meant to be reminiscent of the famous last supper painting?
Your commentary and BTS walk throughs are very insightful. One small point of feedback....please stop messing with your facial hair. Take a moment before filming and use some products to keep your facial hair in place and looking good. The constant fiddling with your beard and/or moustache borders on off putting. Thank you for listening and keep up the great Chosen insights 😊
Ive underestimated
You;ve underestimated
Hello Brandon
Many Biblical experts believe Mark was Peter's Son at a later point in time.
Never underestimate the kid
Never underestimate...
You know, you are very lucky to have the inside scoop on all of this, but seriously, many of us would just like to see the story unfold in its own time.
I would love to see your commentary AFTER the episodes have been released.
Why not just wait to watch them then?
@@deborahferella9041 , I will. I just wonder why people feel the need to spill the beans ahead of time.
Maybe it's just me, but I never had the urge to peek at Christmas presents either. Why spoil the surprise.
They still have candles?
Will the women be also part of the filming of the Last Supper?
It doesn’t look like it. I guess they’re gathering somewhere else?
Don’t underestimate that
And I'm not. I do, however appreciate his knowledge of scripture.
Wasn't John Mark, st. Paul's nephew? St. Luke was St. Paul's doctor. Legend says St. Luke was Greek. He rescued St. Mary.
Paul's nephew was the son of Paul's younger sister and this boy was a roman citizen by birth hence he could go into roman dominated buildings 😮
I often wonder about Judas…
It's Claudia!
Lentils were in the big bowls...
What about maybe Steven? The apostle after Judas?
You’re thinking about Matthias. Stephen was never an apostle.
Stephen was one of the 7 deacons of Greek language @@TheChosenSleuth
I love the Mark theory, makes sense. 😃
