GameCube at its Highest Definition | The Best Quality Possible

  • The Nintendo GameCube is stuck between the Standard and High Definition era. It's not easy to make it look good on modern HDMI TVs, unless you want to spend almost $300 on Nintendo's solution. Luckily, EON knows how to get the absolute best picture quality out of your GameCube. Melee has never looked so good.

GCHD is running GCvideo which you can buy on much cheaper FPGA cards called the Pluto II if you are willing to do some soldering to get it installed. Same HD output and menu (plus you can solder controller input to the board so you don't have to use IR to change the GCvideo settings)

My Samsung Smart TV Series 6 allows you to push the picture into 3:4 ratio. But I use Nintendont on my Wii homebrew, which allows you to force the video to 16:9, not STRETCHING, true 16:9 ratio. Although the front screen textures are stretched(similar to the health counter on SMS or the clock on AC) I can get used to it.

I have both a Wii with component and a GameCube with the HDMI V3 by Zeldaxpro. Paid $102.50. I tested it by moving my Cube side to side and no loss of image, sound, and no system damage.
For any of these HDMI solutions, I'd say if you don't mind spending it then get it. If you're not going to play a lot of the GameCube then maybe not worth the purchase.
I don't regret the purchase since I saved up for it, but on my tv i do notice some jaggies in some games. So your experience may vary depending on your tv as well. These devices can only do so much since they don't have an upscaler.

Even four years after this video, this adapter is at least $150 and a GC console is around $50-$100 with controller and cables. That’s not how progressive scan works it sends a hole image in one frame while interleaved is what you said sends a half image every frame. That’s why when you convert 480i to 480p through a converter the frame rate is lower idk why can some one tell me why I hear that all the time that the frame rate lowers.

I just use my SNES RGB cable, colors look really good, the edges are much sharper and it's 4:3 and that cable coasted me 12€ ( it's still interlaced but I just don't see it on my tv maybe it just hides it )
The issue is that it only works on pal consoles but not a problem for me as I live in Europe :)

  • @jeremebp
    @jeremebp 5 ปีที่แล้ว

For GC I settle with a Wii with component, for NES and PS2 (the only non-hd consoles I own instead of emulating) I just keep a nice CRT TV next to my HDTV for. And yes, I do have component cables for my PS2, but not enough games support widescreen/progressive scan, and I think in general PS2 games just look better on a CRT.

Dolphin 🐬 FTW I love the Gamecube but being in a big city I can barely find good deals on the Gamecube and games, yes there’s Amazon and yes there’s eBay but if I can get the games for free off of a website that’s my best bet. Yes it’s got problems if you don’t know how to set it up but there’s a TH-camr named simply Austin that gives a thorough and detailed walkthrough of the settings and such. I love playing Windwaker at a full 1080p at 60FPS and Simpson’s Hit and Run at that same resolution the only problem is that it takes a good gaming PC to be able to deal with running it and old PC will barely work. But I have an excellent gaming PC so I won’t need to worry about it

I feel that on the Wii U if you emulate the GameCube it'll be brighter crisper and upscaled a lot better than trying it on the Wii not compared to the original GameCube backwards compatibility if you emulated or use a real disc on the Wii it is significantly a 6 out of 10 compared to the Wii U emulation of GameCube gives you a more crispr feel no lag I would say 8 to 9 out of 10 especially if you play Triforce games which blew my mind that's just what I think I'm very happy with doing it that way works really well

The correct "its" you want is "its". "It's" means "it is"

Why dont you get the xrgbmini framemister or ossc and use rgb on retro consoles since that s the cleanest image available and used for those consoles.

While the Framemeister excels at 240p/288p, it doesn't do well with 480p/576p. Besides, you would need the component YPbPr cable to use it anyway.

Carl Siemens i mean he could use the HDMI ports on the framemister and connect it to his monitor.

Oh, I thought you were suggesting it as an alternative to gcvideo.

I got a Hyperkin HDMI Adapter for the Gamecube/N64/SNES/Modded Top-loader NES and it's awful, it's a very very noisy signal. I've been really trying to get a good HDMI adaptor because my first one, a generic PS2 to HDMI converter, worked SO WELL. Taking the Component Signal, upscaling it well, no noise in the signal, doesn't require external power and even has a headphone jack. I'm just so disapointed with that adaptor, though... I also had just a standard RCA to HDMI adaptor and it was also bad, but fine when I used my Xbox on it... I think my GameCube is acting a little bit funny

Simple soloution for this. Use a PC and play it in native 4K. It also works for Wii games. And Wii U games.

You get the same image quality at a 1/5 of the price on a Wii with the hyperkin HDMI cable.

To me, more progress was made from N64 to Gamecube than any other generational leap. (Aside from SNES to N64, but that's a different story)
