About the tooth tabs/dental advice thing... yeah I accidentally took dental advice from internet humans and didn't go to the dentist for awhile and ended up with 3 cavities because I wasn't using fluoride for 2 years. Oops.
Agreedddd!! Especially me, I have very weak enamel since I was a kid, I havent switched to tooth tabs because most dont have fluoride. There are some however im currently on prescription toothpaste so im holding out until my enamel gets a bit better.
*Roblox oof* yeah... Fluoride helps for a reason... I bought an advanced toothpaste too though called apagaurd which has nano hydroxyapatite, the crystal your teeth are made of, to help prevent cavities in addition to fluoride. Flossing regularly is also very important. Blood is perfectly fine to compost! It enriches the soil, you can actually purchase natural fertilizer that's made with blood. So, no need to have any reservations about composting blood. But maybe don't compost plasters you've used with creams or gels.

Just thought I'd throw that out there in case anyone was looking for something like that! They also sell sustainable floss and cases and such. Orders ship this March soooo yeah :)

Blood is actually really great for fertilizing (specifically mensural blood) because it’s high in nitrogen and iron so composting blood isn’t a big deal. I never really understood why composting meat isn’t a thing (maybe has to do with preventing pests or meat born illnesses or smth).
composting meat actually is a thing(mostly fish)! It just takes a bit of a different process and it also requires some animal proofing as it will definitely attract pests (but that's all I know about it because I'm vegan)
I think it depends on where you life. The company that is composting organic waste in my city said specifically that they also accept meat, dairy products, cooked food and rotten food in the system. Where I lived before they only accepted raw fruits and veggies, eggshells and coffee and tea grounds.
The literal only reason for composting "rules" is that meat, cooked foods, and oils will attract rats. However, if you have a well-functioning pile with proper amount of carbon (dry leaves, paper, wood chips, etc.) it won't be much of a problem. Unless they're shitting in my house or eating my pantry I kinda don't care lmao. Rats deserve good food too, they can have my trash ;)
@@katzenlady5339 yeah we have a facility in Orlando that takes everything. I wish they made it a requirement for restaurants to have their food waste picked up beside the trash bin since it is an option offered on a commercial level.

Yes you can compost blood. It's actually good for the soil, I remember MG+ and other things in our blood that's good. I learned that in college years ago.
I had that lush conditioner, used it for a few months and honestly I completely hate it. My hair was dry, residue-y, absolutely not conditioned, and it made a mess of my shower when pieces broke off. I had the seanik shampoo bar and it was more okay than the conditioner but still not ideal. But since switched to ethique and not going back.

I'm so glad you made another one of these videos! I just got a safety razor and I'm trying some other reusable things that are personal. I'm really trying to start reusing jars in more ways. You really inspire my low waste journey!
ive tired the black packaged patch bandaids (i think it's just the most basic original one) and im on my second one and i loveeee them!! i was actually shocked by how much better they stay on than normal bandaid brand ones. maybe give those ones a try??
Thank you for this! Sending you so much love. Im in a similar boat with my depression, I really appreciated the realness in this and all of your videos. Thank you 💜
You're kidding me about the Patch bandaids! I love mine, they stick so so well on my skin, even to the bottom of my feet. I would maybe try a different container.
The entire point of zero waste products is, of course, to reduce waste. I love it. It's just hard to find in most of anywhere that isn't California lol. They aren't all going to be magical products.
Also Vivaia shoes are from recycled plastic bottles and their shoes are so cute and easy to wear. The make flats and heels so you have options. They are a little bit pricey but I have three pairs and they have gone through everything plus you can watch them and keep using them and their flats are easy to put in your bag and have them in case you need to change shoes. Also currently they offer free shipping to all orders too and they have some good discounts from time to time so you can always keep an eye and get the shoes in lower prices
I've had many low waste and vegan flosses that break between my teeth like that too, and I did have braces, so you're not alone for sure. I did find a brand on Amazon that works amazing, which like Amazon.. I know.. but it doesn't break and works great. Its called Coralov.
When people say mean things to or about you, it’s not about you. It’s almost always about them and their insecurities. Sometimes we want to take things a little personally, because it means that we’re important. But truth be told, people are mostly thinking about themselves. And they don’t care about us as much as we’d like to think they do. For me, this was the best realization. People don’t remember what you wore or said nearly as much as you think about it. Let’s stop obsessing and taking ourselves so seriously.
So sorry for all the stuff you have been through recently, but so happy to have you back online! I have missed the advice and honesty that you share through your videos. Keep looking after you, but can't wait to see more! 😍
My thoughts in the bandages being compostable, I'm sure it's not enough blood to be concerning for compost. And if it is that much blood, probably see a medical professional.
That Glass nail polish looks super cute! Please update us how you go as you use it further. Doing my nails is one of my favourite self care practices (I do them myself). Not sure if it's gross but I've been using the same nail filer (regular type for years now) I got 2 like 7 years ago and still works somehow😂 would be nice to look into a glass one once those finally fall appart.
I'm terrible about flossing, too! I finally tried to be better at it and I flossed daily and used up all those free floss samples from the dentist (before I started declining those to reduce waste). I bought some zero waste floss and I hate it. Breaks in my teeth. So I haven't flossed in a while. Broke my streak!
I've got the conditioner from Lush that you talked about, I've got short and curly hair and it works awesome! Maybe with shorter hair is easier to eliminate the residues? Don't know ahah but I highly recommend it too
Welcome back darling! Have you tried the Durapik to help you floss? I don't floss as much as I should, as I too find it easier to use a pick style applicator. If you do let us know! Hugs from Canada!
Glad you're back :) Its chill to take care of yourself as long as you need to but its great to see you popping up with videos again. Very welcome, yes.
I hated until I went to Uni and realized that girls can wear sneakers and sports shoes. My mom always only bought heels and ballet flats etc. I'll find some shiny white chunky Adidas on depop for $20 and feel so proud and classy.
I love my ethique hair bars. And I have been using the aloe patches, they don't irritate my skin at all (adhesive allergy) and never had a problem with them sticking.
I started using a water flosser cause I hate flossing and I love it cause even though it’s plastic it last forever and you just use water. You do have to charge it but the battery last like a month
Same on the Bite floss! I have bought some vegan, compostable floss from Amazon and Earth Hero which I like way better. The Bite brand breaks sooo much. I'm getting through mine and then won't order again...
Not sure if you've already gotten rid of it but I've had mine for over 5 years now. You just have to rinse away the nail particulates and wash it. The file gets clogged and then can't take away any more nail.
Grove Collaborative has a lotion stick. I think it's a refillable product. I'm not sure because I didn't look that closely since I'm still using up a bunch of lotion I bought on clearance. When I bought the Peach refillable deodorant the lotion was in the recommended products section.
Did not know glass nail files were a thing!! Excited to try one out. I also really didn't like that floss from bite. It's so think and yet also constantly rips between my teeth. I love the packaging though.
I have had one for years!! I was in middle school and fell in love with one at a small business fair. She painted the tops similar to yours and one looked like my cat so I was obsessed.
I loved the bandages. I got the original and they worked great! I don’t compost them with my regular compost I just burry them with coffee and shredded news paper
Update: I don't think I would repurchase this. It was great but the fragrance was a little too much for me. I am currently using the green highbar conditioner. I actually prefer it and it's also closer to me in comparison to lush
I bought a glass nail file once a while ago I found after a couple uses the nail file dulled like the typical nail file would basically mad a smooth surface out of it. I’m assuming this probably only happened because it was super cheap 😂
The residue you feel on your shampoo and conditioner bars could be from hard water! There are shower heads that can help if you’re a renter, but I think it’s best to put a water softener on a house because it helps preserve pipes. Good luck!
Instead of floss, you could try using wooden dental sticks! There's a particular brand called The Natural Dentist, they sell wooden picks called "Stim-U-Dent's" that are in little triangle shapes to clean in between the teeth instead of floss, they're made of wood and are reusable, biodegradeable, and are really cheap!
definitely have experienced the silk floss breaking off in between teeth, funny though the first ever sustainable floss option I tried was charcoal? and I really didn't ever notice it breaking off until I just tried the plain silk one. I remember being pissed that it was some shittier floss brand but I'm finding it was just the charcoal vs. silk that really had been the deciding factor for me
I’ve been looking into durapik I believe it’s a small start up so I’m not to sure how great they work. But I have a hard time flossing my back teeth and I’m hoping getting one of these will help. If you get one, please view it for us. 😁
I had the same problem with other brands of floss breaking that come with glass floss containers... tbh don’t remember what brand I bought last but I also have crowding in my bottom teeth and having trouble with the floss breaking
Glad you're back! I've missed your videos! Thanks for the tips I've been trying to find a low chemical shampoo bar! Try to keep the things I put on and in my body as natural as possible!
I use the exact same shampoo conditioner combo and nothing else has worked for me. I tried another set I was gifted and they are awful and my hair just doesnt get clean with them. Using the conditioner bar for shaving and the shampoo bar as body soap to use them up haha
I am loving your content as well as your honesty and humanity to share your journey with us! Thank YOU! Regarding shampoo bars: as a person who is still trying to find just the right one that suits my hair type best, I naturally sought out LUSH. There is no hate intended here, but I have been informed that they use sulfates which do not biodegrade, but more applicable to your video, the SLS in there can be a little drying which does not always work for long, curly or dry hair... This could cause some build up or be the reason for some of the things you mentioned on this topic in your video? Just thought I would share my own research and what could maybe help someone else! I am glad you have found another one that seems to work better for you as well! I hope I will find one soon too! :) Looking forward to more content!
I struggle with the floss as well and it´s not just specific brands. Most of them are only developed for people with perfectly aligned teeth otherwise they break and so far I´ve found NO sustainable brands at all, that offer anything that will remotely stay together. I use the picks and the attached floss; it´s easier when it´s stretched out over something and it´s plastic even though I hate that. But it´s coated in a way that makes them possible to use, even with teeth that has´nt been completely overhauled by a dentist.
Lush shampoo bars dried the crap out of my hair and scalp and gave me bad dandruff. That bar smells amazing tho. Oh, also the residue added up to a point where my hair looked greasy and dirty all the time and I couldn't get rid of it even with clarifying shampoos or apple cider vinegar rinses. I've had good luck with Unwrapped Life bars so far 🤞🏻
SAME, I recently started having an issue too! I love the Lush shampoo bars, that's all I've been using for about 5 years now, but my scalp became so irritated I had to switch to a anti-dandruff shampoo. I'm sad because I have several more of them I haven't used yet, and it was wonderful to not buy bottled shampoo, but I think when my head heals fully I'll give them another try. Probably going to alternate between the bars, and something SLS free, just to use them up. kinda strange that I used them for so long with no issue, but maybe my head just had enough ?
@@MiraRose0267 that is strange! I have sadly also had to purchase dandruff shampoo in plastic because of the Lush bars.. 😔 Maybe try out a different brand? There are lots of companies that make them without SLS! Unwrapped Life and Bottle None are awesome 🥰 I hope you find something that works for you!
@@MiraRose0267 also, if you absolutely can't use the rest of your bars up as shampoo, I've been using the rest of my bar to clean my makeup brushes and it works really well for that 🤷🏻♀️
Heyyy Been using american cream and love it. Jason and argan oil was the first shampoo bar I tried, it isn't the best option for me (the residue issue hit me too) angel hair tho is my fav lush shampoo bar (I've tried about five). Love love, the smell omg Honey I washed my hair is a close second, only problem is it doesn't last as much
Great vid 🙏 one thing though caused me pause....when you're talking about the bandages, you say it's good they have aloe Vera in them...but in your other videos you say you are avoiding it as it's carcinogenic, have you changed your mind or learned more? I'd love a video on aloe vera or like, nasty natural ingredients. 💕🐦
Hi friend! So while I'm not an expert, I've been told it's just one chemical compound found naturally in aloe that can be of issue. It's concentration can be quite high if not extracted properly. When extracted in a lab (for cosmetic use, etc.), it has a safe concentration of said compound, and is deemed safe (from my limited understanding). This should go for most products that are formulated with aloe as an ingredient. I think that aloe is mostly an issue when orally consuming high doses of this compound, less so for external/cosmetic use. [When I used to recommend lots of aloe, I also recommended eating it (I drank it in smoothies), rather than just topically. Though, I mostly used to recommend it topically, there were few videos I referenced eating/drinking it.] I personally stopped adding it to my smoothies myself, and I tried to remove all content where I showed eating it in videos as best I could. *Though I'm not an expert! Nor am I a cosmetic chemist/dietician/etc.* (So please consult further research/professionals, and don't take my opinion as fact. I'm just a girl with a camera hehe) I was told that it's when using the leaf as is (i.e. cutting it open and using- not in product formulations), that I should be careful. One should allow the yellow substance/layer that forms to drip out before using, and then I was told it's safe. I also learned through that video I posted a while back (via comments), that EWC can be very biased, and it's great to look to other reputable sources as well. The Eco Well (podcast/instagram) is a great resource to follow to learn more about "clean" ingredients, and what's actually greenwashing / fear marketing! I think Hyram has also touched on the use of aloe in his videos in the past as well (that's how I learned of it first a few years ago, but he may have changed his mind as well! I'm not sure). Honestly, I still have to do further research to figure out what my current standing is on it now! I feel okay to use aloe formulated products personally. Though I don't have a great conclusion to this topic and have to get back to doing research on it before I recommend to/not to use it to my audience again. :) I fell out of the routine of using the leaf by itself, and haven't felt the need to buy it since, but I don't think I'd be opposed to using it myself again, especially if I allowed the yellow layer to drain. The only reason that video is still up is because it has valuable information on other topics that I think are important. If my memory is correct, I tried to highlight issues in the comments/description of the videos. My accident of sharing about this topic is why I've struggled a lot in what I should/shouldn't share about, as I am not a qualified expert, and while I'll be posting more "lifestyle" content on this channel this year, rather than "educational," as I think others obviously deserve the mic for that. Hope that helps and isn't more confusing! xo

Love Lucy and yak! Also glad I’m not the only one who struggles with Bite’s floss shredding. :(
One of the biggest struggles with some of the zero waste or sustainable living is finding affordable products! This is why I love your channel
Happy to have you back. Enjoyed this video! Love you!
Yes! My teeth are sharp and just cut right through them! The brushwithbamboo floss works perfectly for me!
I am so happy you're back...but also happy you took time to get yourself in a good place.
I use the patch bandaids and they work perfectly for me but my friend claimed it wouldn't stick to her so who knows 🤷🏽♀️
Same. They've been totally fine for me but my hubs swears they don't stick for him. 🤦♀️🤷♀️
I've had many low waste and vegan flosses that break between my teeth like that too, and I did have braces, so you're not alone for sure. I did find a brand on Amazon that works amazing, which like Amazon.. I know.. but it doesn't break and works great. Its called Coralov.
Have you tried water flossing? Great alternative
V true!!
I've been using a metal nail file! So good to know, definitely going to switch.
I would recommend water flossers, you can find them on Amazon and they just use water pressure to floss
Glad you're back :)
Its chill to take care of yourself as long as you need to but its great to see you popping up with videos again. Very welcome, yes.
You NEED to try Viori Beauty shampoo bars and conditioner!!! They’re amazing, the shampoo bar suds up so much and the conditioner bar is even better!
I’ve never been a shoe person either I don’t like the idea of shoe shopping , I feel like it’s a chore 😂
Hahaha right!
I hated until I went to Uni and realized that girls can wear sneakers and sports shoes. My mom always only bought heels and ballet flats etc. I'll find some shiny white chunky Adidas on depop for $20 and feel so proud and classy.
@@briannaadhikari8155 ooh yes I do love me some sneakers and my Air Force ones :)
Christie, you’re the best human! I love your content❤️ thank you for your honesty in your videos. Praying for you girl ✨💗🌱
I have the georganics floss that is also vegan an it breaks so much it’s basically unusable. I think it’s just that type of floss lacks strength.
YES 🙌🏻 One of my new year’s resolutions was to become more zero waste!! This is great! Thank youuuu 🥰🥰
I'm getting through mine and then won't order again...
my glass file wore out, i thought they could be used forever but it went completely smooth on me after ab a year
Not sure if you've already gotten rid of it but I've had mine for over 5 years now. You just have to rinse away the nail particulates and wash it. The file gets clogged and then can't take away any more nail.
Free plug coming!
Revlon makes a wonderful permanent nail file made from German steel. I haven't bought an emery board for years.
Product review and a pep talk to wrap it up - love it! You do you, girl :) (but glad you're back)
I did have braces, but the floss breaks between my teeth too! I’m glad I’m not alone in that.
Do you have any suggestions for lotions? They all come in plastic bottles and can't find any other alternatives.
I just wanna say thanks for recommending the MHM Conditioner a few videos ago, it's seriously the best!!
I loved the bandages. I got the original and they worked great! I don’t compost them with my regular compost I just burry them with coffee and shredded news paper
That American cream conditioner is amazing! It is slightly on the heavier side but it leaves ur hair feeling luscious af.
Update: I don't think I would repurchase this. It was great but the fragrance was a little too much for me. I am currently using the green highbar conditioner. I actually prefer it and it's also closer to me in comparison to lush
in terms of nail polish, i use piggy paint which is water based!
I keep mine in my everyday bag, love it. Have had it for like 3 years now and its still perfect. Mine files really easy
A glass nail file
I bought a glass nail file once a while ago I found after a couple uses the nail file dulled like the typical nail file would basically mad a smooth surface out of it. I’m assuming this probably only happened because it was super cheap 😂
Sienna Byron Bay Nail Polish makes glass files and nontoxic nail polishes.
Durapik is a metal reusable floss pick! I think you can use any floss with it too :)
Filing in one direction is actually better for your nails too!
Bite toothpaste is great! They’re one of my favorite toothpaste tablets! Great video!
i've always been better at flossing if i can use floss picks and i recently got a quip floss pick and it's great!
Found the glass nail file through you and have been using it for soo long now- I love my lil mushroom 🍄 one from Blue lemon art!! ✨
Petit Voue used to sell glass nail files.
definitely have experienced the silk floss breaking off in between teeth, funny though the first ever sustainable floss option I tried was charcoal? and I really didn't ever notice it breaking off until I just tried the plain silk one. I remember being pissed that it was some shittier floss brand but I'm finding it was just the charcoal vs. silk that really had been the deciding factor for me
I'm switching from the lush bars and the ones I have on the way are Viori. Super looking foreward to trying it out, they seem like a great brand.
Definitely with you on the Bite floss. Love the tooth tabs, but the floss breaks in between my teeth, too and I hate it.
So glad you’re back !
Using the conditioner bar for shaving and the shampoo bar as body soap to use them up haha
i remember getting a glass file and when i went to rinse it after the first use i dropped it, i was so sad that it broke lmao
Yeah, I have the same issue with vegan floss snapping and getting stuck between my teeth. 😔
I love your sweater! where did you buy it?:)) looks super comfy.
Good to have you back!
It's because all of their shampoo bars have sulfates in them and they're terribly harsh bad drying for your hair.
@@MiraRose0267 also, if you absolutely can't use the rest of your bars up as shampoo, I've been using the rest of my bar to clean my makeup brushes and it works really well for that 🤷🏻♀️
@@kassiharris2159 I'm definitely going to look into those, thank you!!
Thanks for this! That glass file is so cute! I have just a plain one 😊
Heyyy
Been using american cream and love it. Jason and argan oil was the first shampoo bar I tried, it isn't the best option for me (the residue issue hit me too) angel hair tho is my fav lush shampoo bar (I've tried about five). Love love, the smell omg Honey I washed my hair is a close second, only problem is it doesn't last as much
So is Jason and the Argan Oil shampoo bar your favorite?
I'm just a girl with a camera hehe)
I was told that it's when using the leaf as is (i.e. cutting it open and using- not in product formulations), that I should be careful.
Hope that helps and isn't more confusing! xo
