    you do not need a private doctor to complete a Nexus statement. Your VA doctor could and should do that for you. Have the form ready so all he/she has to do is complete and sign his/her part and you’re done. 💁🏼‍♂️‼️

    Thank you for the information! It is very insightful. Question: Can I claim and increase for one service connected condition and file secondary service connected conditions for a different service connected condition? Also, can I file more than one secondary condition at a time? For instance can I file two secondary conditions linked to a PTSD condition at the same time. Thank you!

    I just applied for secondary headaches. I'm on medication for it, but I'm not sure if I was officially diagnosed with headaches. I have PTSD and was blown up in Iraq. I submitted a log of my headaches and a statement from my workplace detailing how they affect me. I hope my application isn't denied, but I should have received an official diagnosis. Why prescribe medication without a diagnosis? Hopefully, I'll hear back soon; it's been over two months now.

    Insider good video... I started with VA in 2008. I was not aware of being eligible before that. I had lung cancer in 1988 and a right lung removed. All the doctors involved at that time are retired or passed away. Also all of them disposed of all records by state law in virginia - 6 years from last encounter- I have zero records relevant to my lung cancer. IN 2008 I started va care and still under va care. the only record va has of my lung cancer is my self reporting and they did imaging to confirm it. .. and now they treat me for lung cancer residual treatment ie severe COPD, etc. I have other disabilities to claim going back to my service 1967-1971 and hope there are records in my service file. What to do about starting a claim and not having the medical evidence.??

      @@Stoney_AKA_James Good luck to you as well. There is a company out there who emailed me that my private med records from after discharge until I started VA Healthcare(for 30 years did not know I was eligible) was not that essential as long as when you started VA care they are treating me for what I self reported. I told them I had one lung and copd on day 1, so they did and cat scan and pulmonary function test and said ok you have one lung and copd. But my problem is NEXUS to service connection I am saying I was exposed to Asbestos and Kerosene for 4 years in old barracks, etc.
      Luck to us both.

    I am so confused. My Dad did an "intent to file"? for the PACT Act by the Aug. Deadline. The VA sent him to do an Agent Orange exposure exam last year. That Doctor took him to the Texas Veterans commission and he received an appointment for Dec. He has cancer so they have paid him back pay starting from Dec. Why is it only Dec, not Aug? He has another C and P exam this week ...should I go in and file a secondary myself?

    6:25 I started my intent to file for sleep apnea in November while I was awaiting service connection for sinusitis. I got service connected for sinusitis in the beginning of December. Once I got the service connection I went back in to complete my FDC but the drop down menu does not show my new service connected conditions. I called the VA and had them create a ticket in mid December and now it is late January and the issue is still not resolved. What are my options as I am running out of patience. Should I complete FDC as a primary BUT put in comments that the claim is actually a secondary to sinusitis?

    If I'm doing a secondary claim for anxiety and also depression, are they separate claims or do you put it all on one claim?

    • @VAClaimsInsider
      @VAClaimsInsider  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello Sandra, these are both for mental health. The VA doesn't look at each diagnosed mental health condition as a separate issue. They don't evaluate depression as one disability and anxiety disorder as a second disability. This is because in most cases, the symptoms overlap.
      In other words, you do not have to file separate VA claims for depression and anxiety but instead make a more general claim.

    VA denied me many years ago for depression and anxiety since i didn't have anything to connect to from in service. I recently got service connected for cancer through PACT act at 0 percent and filled secondary anxiety/depression to the recent cancer. VA came back stating i have no new evidence to submit since they initially denied it. 🤷 do i file a supplemental or higher level review to get them to look at it as "secondary" to the cancer thats service connected. Seems they are looking at it from a primary dx standpoint and not secondary...not surprised. I put it as secondary just like how you explained in this video, but that's the response they came back with. Could use some guidance here. Thanks!

    Can the C&P exam serve as the nexus? Or does the VA just deny it before it gets to C&P if there isn't already a nexus/diagnosis?

    • @VAClaimsInsider
      @VAClaimsInsider  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there! Keep in mind, C&P exams are only necessary when the VA needs more information to determine the extent of your disability, the connection between your service and disability, or the value of your compensation.
      A VA Nexus Letter is not required and including one with your VA claim does not guarantee service connection.
      Yet, there are some specific instances where you might want to get a Nexus Letter from a private healthcare provider to help you prove service connection.

      I got you. You need to get diagnosed for plantar fasciitis from your doctor (preferably VA PCP). Ask if knee issues can cause that so that their notes can mention knee and foot issues tied together. Also make sure your denial is within a year. Write yourself a personal statement explaining that you are service connected with knee issues and it has caused issues with feet. Attach that foot diagnosis and everything new and submit a supplemental to keep your old intent to file date from when you originally got denied.
