If shoot first turns up in stayer’s he could run well. Ballyburn jumped well but I didn’t like the landing. I want to see them John durken horses run 3 miles at Christmas before getting any ideas about Cheltenham. Keep the videos coming 🐎❤️🐎
The best surprise of the weekend for me was Touch me not in the novice chase.l took the 40s for the Arkle, a very slick jumper and took the scalp of a group 1 horse in Farren Glory. If he continues in that vein he will be very hard to beat
@@crazyhorse562 You've a great price there mate. Must admit that race went below my radar a bit on a busy wkd. Will have another look, I do think the Arkle could be real hot this season and I dont rate Farren Glory as a yardtick at the min, inthepocket slammed him too I think he's after a nice hcp mark. Your fella couldn't have done it any better though, great price and I'll have a btter look.
Congratulations on cutting down mate😂 20 minutes before sparking up! Agree with you about shoot first for stayers. I think at prices he’s worth a small bet. Think I’ve mentioned to you before as well, I’m on ill etat temps in some each way trebles with horses like mister meggit supreme and fortune de mer bumper. If Willie aims IET at the stayers he goes off at 3’s imo! Big if but worth a little go.
Grey Dawning a severe kick in the knakcers! Writing was on the wall when it started lashing down early hours of Saturday morning! I was laid in bed about 3am and the rain pouring down the window was like the tears on my face as the realisation set in Royal Pagaille would be the horse to be on. I was on at 5/2 & 9/4 ante post. I’d like to think I lost battle but the war could still be won with him! However he’s unlikely to be good enough to beat the Irish in march!
@@garethedwards3379 feel for you mate, even though it had all gone against him he still looked like getting it done between the last 2. Clearly the class horse in the race. He's exciting to watch, in hindsight the Charlie Hall/King George/Denman/Gold Cup would have been the way to go I reckon but I know Dan was a bit worried about the ground for Wetherby and they'd set their hearts on Haydock. Love the horse but yea there looks to be a few monsters in Ireland.
A great insight Steve we all keep learning dont we!!!.How ive evolved is to really only have pennies on in the season and concentrate more on building up a good book for the festivals.Your take on Stellar Story really struck a note backed him at 33s was chuffed but did him on the day to at at over 33s ( Betfair)in potatoe race.Remember Gordon saying SS only run because Croke Park pulled out ironic that!!!What i would say is dont give up on your selections if they get beat in there trials March is the aim again great podcast enjoyed.
@@markjefferies435 Hi Mark cheers for that. Yea always learning and you have to evolve as things change. I think that's a great way to play the season, the festivals is where you can really make it pay and its great fun at the same time. Yes Stellar Story did a lot of us a big favour last year, I didn't even realise he was running going into Cheltenham and like you say he nearly didn't. I was quite big on Readin Tommy Wrong at the time, funny how things turn out. He's a little star and the Browns could be made for him this year. Agree, that wasn't the first time I've wrote off the chances of an ante-post bet before Cheltenham only for it to rise from the ashes. I remember backing Tidal Bay for an Arkle years back, looked great first time up then fell apart in his prep and got beat heavy odds on and then bounced back to take it out on the day. Great character he was. Good luck mate and all the best.
Great stuff Steve be great if you got a couple of your blokes on golf caddie Mark he is very good.Honest straight to the point refreshing really.Would love to do it but ime not really media savvy but learn from other points of view.
Grear insight...best channel on TH-cam...👌 I put another tenner on the Grand National plot of the year...tickled around at the back and jumped pretty decent to be fair. Lovely first run... Just praying that is where he ends up....🤞
@@peterbason2882 Cheers Peter really appreciate that. Yea thought it was a lovely run, there is gamble there on his target but we're getting a pretty price to find out.
Those Stayers horses will be going in my book! A great weekend Steve and even better review! All I am saying is anyone doing a book, rattle constitution hill at 5-1 WOW can't believe the price, a gamble worth taking in my view WOW!
@@The_Cheltenham_Bandit cheers mate appreciate that. Yea I'd have said con hill had too many risks attatched at 7/4 but 5/1 warrents respect. I guess it depends on how certain you are he lines up. Impossible to know. I'd say maybe 20%? That to me makes him 5/1 just to get there so maybe not for me, if you make it more 50/50 though then its a great price. Very subjective and you're playing with free money so fair play it could look an awesome bet in March.
@smoking_cheltenham I also think Gallopin is great odds Atm... I'll have a good go this next week on ma jacks hill... Little lad is called Jack so that's one of many omens I have to cover 🤣
@@accadoza I think he's a player for the Gold Cup. The King George should tell us more if he gies there. I think he'd have a good chance in the King George and if he takes that out then it's going to get interesting, could see that forcing Spillanes Tower into the Ryanair. Dont think JP would mind firing a couple of big bullets at the Gold Cup but I doubt 3. Best 2 probably with the other going for the weaker Ryanair maybe. Could be any 2 from 3 at the min but Spillanes age would probably make him fav of the 3 to go Ryanair and he might get his shot at the big one the year after. Just my thoughts how it may play out, I guess they've all got to get there fit and well and in form, how they perform in the meantime might make the decisions for them.
Also Steve, Big Dan has said yesterday he might send Grey Dawning to the King George now! I cashed out my ante post bets with him in each way trebles as soon as he said he was gonna keep him at home over Xmas as soon as he crossed the line at Haydock! Livid!!😅
Yea they do your head in these trainers dont they! Seem to do more u-turns than the politicians. Seems to me everyone saw the field for the King George and is fancying a crack. Grey Dawning would be a bit of a headache as my inclination would be that its coming too soon after that brutal run at the wkd but clearly if he's fine he'd have a big chance.
Saturday was brutal, a day of seconds. Stateman enhanced on 2 sites so when that got beat was always going to be a bad day 😂 Grey Dawning another I fancied a lot 🤢
@@Ben98789 unlucky Ben, yea I'm sure you weren't on your own I for one had a losing weekend too. Can't win everyday mate, Grey Dawning, that was harsh anywhere barr Haydock in a bog he laughs at them.
Bit down about Fastorslow performance but happy Sir Gino might be aimed at the Champ Hurdle ( had him 16/1).When Fastorslow won the John Durkan last year it was only his 5th chase too.
@@russellstanton7583 nice ticket on gino mate, he's exciting. Yea Fastorslow definitely ran a bit below, maybe not hugely though it was some race. Just hope that knock doesn't cost him any work, would be having an easy week now anyway but needs to be ready to go again soon. Still clinging to that hope he may get supplemented for KG.
Another great weekend review. Just wandered what you thoughts would be if F2F gets beaten over Xmas and not knowing if he’ll truly stay the Gold Cup, could you see a scenario where he ends up in the Ryanair?
@@OscarBravo7 cheers mate appreciate that. And yea, absolutely. I think at the min out of say him and Spillanes that Spillanes would be favoured for Ryanair, he's a year younger, which could possibly come into their thinking, and could have a crack at the Gold Cup the year after. That said though both have plenty of speed but a question over the 3m 21/2. Leopardstown could tell us plenty there, if they allowed to take their chance, and if Spillanes comes home a lot stronger than FTF then yea why not FTF ryanair.
Great comments ad usual. I wouldn't rule out Fatandslow just yeat for the Gold Cup. Ps.....latest news on Constitution Hill....he could be fit for Kempton! Lol
Fastorslow was ruled out for the Gold Cup before the season even started! He'll never be good enough to beat Galopin over 3m2 around Cheltenham and now he has a whole host of JP novices to also deal with. King George on a flatter track is a winnable race for him (won't go there now as presumably won't be fit enough and they'd have to pay to supplement him), but Cheltenham over that trip he'd never have a chance.
Cheers John appreciate that. I think his chance was last year maybe? Was unfortunate to unseat but I'm not sure about him after the last in a Gold Cup and this year looks like been tougher still. All about opinions though and I get plenty wrong. All the best mate and good luck
