Simon Gives Me A Jumping Lesson On Bear

- It’s been far too long since Bear and I had a jumping lesson, so who better for it than the only and only Simey! I unloaded all of the issues Bear and I have ever had together, and slowly we worked through them in true, calm, Simon style.
As for Bear, she brought her usual sass and a few opinions to the table, but with Simon's guidance, we stripped everything back to basics. This lesson wasn’t about big fences or flashy moves-it was about control, confidence, and getting Bear to work with me rather than against me.
If you’ve got a sharp or spooky horse, or you’re just looking for tips to refine your jumping basics, this is a must-watch. Simon’s advice was gold (as always), and Bear kept things interesting!
Let me know what you think in the comments, and don’t forget to like and subscribe if you want to see more lessons with Simon (and more of Bear’s antics).

Another vote here for having Simon take a ride on Bear. No matter how good you are from the ground, when you sit on a horse, you can feel everything. It would be interesting to see what he said.
Yup! We need to see Simon on Bear! ❤
We do can I cume have a lesson to.and he can ride lilly
He understands, if a bad situation happens, he could get hurt.
It’s not worth him taking a risk for himself and Bear.
@@shahannagrey8427What if everything turns out good? He need to give it a try
Simon is the kindest man. He so clearly loves the horses!
Indeed, Simon is my favourite teacher together with Lucinda. Kindness in teaching makes for the best learning.
As they say, you ask a stallion, you tell a gelding and you negotiate with a mare. Lovely cute Bear in one.
I think we need to add ‘you beg a Bear’ 😂
You pray if it's a Pony, and discuss with a Mare.
@@MissJools11 so discuss and pray in this case 😅
PETITION FOR A ‘SIMON JUMPS BEAR’ VIDEO!!!
Always love a Simon lesson. He’s so calm and focused. He knew whilst a human might think boring, Bear needed the time & repetition to process.
Well done Meg, Bear & Simon x
And Pete (the not micro managed) cameraman 😆
Simon's too scared to ride Bear LOL, sassy pony but we love her anyway. Can't wait to watch
😂😂😂
I love this new chapter of breaking things down so the horse can mentally prepare. Understanding the different learning styles and emotional needs of each individual horse and adapting training to them specifically. Actually helping the horse to physically and mentally benefit from their work rather than put on a show for us. Or is that my age showing too 😅
I NEED a video of Simon riding Bear! I regularly rewatch him riding Wilma and Winnie!
loved this! Simon has such a lovely way of teaching.
Epic isn’t he
@@elphick.event.ponies Wish we could all have a simon haha!
Love the vids of you and bear
I wish I'd had a trainer like Simon when I was first learning, he's so chilled and the repetition isn't boring, it's so useful. Well done Meg (:
Best lesson ever, Simon for your intuitive sensitive teaching, Meg for your generous honesty and patience and Bear as a great teacher of awareness and staying in the present moment, just brilliant. Well done all three.
I wish I could have a Simon lesson I love his way of teaching and understanding- you and bear are a great team you know her so well
He’s amazing 🥹
Simon on bear would be epic!!!! Bear is such an amazing character and definitely the whole reason I started watching. ❤
Simon is so on the money all the time. Meg, you are so adaptable as well. When someone you trust is on the ground quietly correcting you it is a perfect ying and yang. Bear is always going to be a little hot. That is her but when you just focus on Simon and on relaxing, it is wonderful. I so love Bear and I so love that you are always willing to try. Oh and yeah, Simey should definitely ride Bear First, he is 100% trustworthy, secondly, watching from the ground really helps solidify how to move forward.
Less than 5 minutes ago I applied to university, now I'm here watching Bear, Meg, and Simon! A very productive day indeed!!
Good girl Ted! She’s such an epic pony. I’ve seen people sniping about why would you breed from Bear if you want an event horse, but why wouldn’t you is my question. She’s got a fantastic jump, she always scores well in dressage. The only quibbles are that she’s spooky and too small, but she’s just got so much charisma that everyone that sees her loves her. So you chose a stallion who’s a good height (but not so big as to cause problems for Bear foaling) and with a great calm personality. I’ve got everything crossed that Brego makes 15hh - 15.2hh for you and inherits his Dad’s movement and personality and his Mum’s jump and ‘it factor’. He’s already a great colour and has such pretty flashy markings.
Brego is such a dream horse, excited to watch him grow up!
Simon is such an intuitive instructor. Love him. Bear is awesome. Well done all. 🐴❤
Simon is the best instructor, fascinating with the detail.
Congratulations on the BHSI, well deserved.
Well done Meg and Bear too!
I’d love a Simon lesson too! He’s so positive and kind.
Meg, that jump in the double pole at 14:42. I noticed you kept watching the ground in the approach. Look away and the horse will feel your confidence...just a friendly suggestion. I have been there...nice job by the way!
Simon's teaching is so nice and having Bear back regularly is great. This might be one of my favourite lessons you have shown us.
Simon is just THE Best. I love that he is really inside your head and mindset and knows what you need and how to get the best out of you both. Bear needs her own channel. She is THE Queen.
Yes! Put Simon up! He makes all the horsies look good!
Need to see simey on bear!
Don’t we!!! Maybe if we get more comments asking 😂
We seriously need a "SIMON RIDES BEAR"😂😂
Love Simon..He really understands how horses think..Bear is such a typical, busy brained, over thinking Welsh mare. Slightest change..and its terrifying...my welsh mare was exactly the same. And could be very cheeky...especially if someone other than me rode her..take the pee. Welshies are hilarious. Not the easiest pony to ride..But once you know thier wierd quirks..😂😂😂 Yes it will be an experience for Simon. Bear is the most amazing pony..xx
Hi MEG just had to see this lesson with Simon . I was watching an old Baer vlog the other day .I had forgotten what she was like jumping . I like simon's comments. Thank you for sharing your time . 👍👍👍👍😊😄😄😄😊💟💖❤
Simon is just such a nice guy as well as an amazing teacher x
More bear and Simon content! Simon needs to jump bear next! Or take bear out cross country schooling for a lesson with Simon!!
Simon is brilliant. Great work with Bear 🐻🙌 guys. 💜
Bear is doing so well and is getting super fit❤
LOVE this lesson. It's so important to deal with the horse's anxiety before you jump bigger. So glad you are role-modelling understanding the horse and building a plan to the horse's needs.
Simon has such a good energy to him. I adore the way he teaches and relates to both the rider and the horse.
Meg simey and ted is just what I needed 😂❤❤
she is so fun!! you look so good on her and you're such a good rider meg!!
So appreciate these types of videos from you! I have a quirky spooky Welsh that appears to ride quite similar to Bear and I tried this out in my most recent jump school with her. What a difference 👌 my mare was so much more confident and relaxed having a wee pop. And for the first time ever she managed to get good strides and didn't overjump. Feel like I should be paying Meg and/or Simon for it 🤣
Oh. And another vote to see Simon jump Bear 🙏 do it for all of us at home who'd love a wee go on that absolute belter of a pony 💕
Totally love watching your lessons with Simon! He is SO cool and there is always something to learn!
Love Simon’s kindness and patience. He’s pure ❤
First off, it's gross that folks tried to cancel you. You were fine and just being human. Shaming folks for that is tiresome and over. Secondly, great topic to cover and I hope you do more like it. Lots of folks have spooky horses. Learning to manage that is so helpful and educational. I can't thank you enough. 😊
What exactly happened? Why did they try to cancel Meg? Only if you would like to elaborate… ☺️
I think she was just being dramatic for a laugh with Simon. She might have had a couple extreme people but the majority just thought she wasn’t being nice, they weren’t trying to cancel her.
@@oldageisdumbthank you. 😊 So it was for some banter she did or something…
@@andreaaufdermaur8733 Meg and Simon were playing the kind of verbal games true friends play, a couple "Social Karens" were to bog to get that it...
when did that happen?
Absolutely fascinating watching Simon give you both a lesson…his ability to communicate confidence to both of you and also the gentle reminder of relaxing and making it fun…this is another excellent video. Thank you so much!!!
Always enjoy a Bear vlog and a Simon vlog so the two together is great - he is a lovely teacher and such a nice bloke. Bear worked her magic on Simon and it would be fab to see him ride her.
Great video Meg so much learning in there, Simon is so good as an instructor.
Thank you, Meg, for showing the realities of spooky horses and how their behavior impacts our thinking and riding. I had a bad fall in a jumping lesson almost two years ago and I'm incredibly stressed about the idea of jumping again even though I'd love to again. I'm definitely doing this exercise soon, even just to introduce actual jumping wings again. Absolutely adore your content and how you keep it real (with a sense of humor of course). Looking forward to vlogmas! :)
Under a hour yayayaya I love your vlogs with Simon 🫶🏼 tell him I also love his podcast and Meg I think u should be one of the guests on it! ❤❤
I absolutely loved the way simon approached bear refusing the poles in the first try and gradually lead her to trotting perfectly contently over the poles without even thinking about it! Love Bear!
My welshie is exactly the same this has really helped. Thankyou ❤
Lovely lesson! Thank you for sharing! I absolutely adore Bear & Simon is fantastic at breaking things down to fine tune the basics. ❤
As someone with a horse that acts a lot like bear, this video was so helpful! My mare doesn’t think twice at a grid but a single pole on the ground or a single fence? The world ends😂 My trainer has definitely tried to get after this same point but a lot of things just clicked watching this. Thanks for the amazing video!❤
Great vlog! This is the kind of content I love - a lesson from Simey BHSI (congratulations!) and concentration from both Meg and Bear, with a difference between beginning and end. It always helps to have Bear in a vlog though, she's so adorable 🥰
Simon gets both you and Bear to relax!! Really good lesson for all the basics on any horse.
I can listen to Simon give lessons all day. So calm and soothing. But... the "Good Girl" sprinkled in repeatedly was something else altogether 🤭
So useful. Exactly what I was doing with sharp horses & ponies in the 1980s 😀.
I wish i could get a lesson from simon.. but i live in the USA😭
Simon does such a GREAT job with not only the horses but with the people too! And you did a great job too, Meg!🤗
I also see where bear has calmed down a bit, maybe its her age thats maturing her? But it really is a nice thing to see... even tho we all love to watch her goof around 😅
You and bear are doing AMAZING!🤍
Any day with a new Simon vid is a good day! He is such a thoughtful calm presence. ❤
Lovely job, Meg, keeping her relaxed and enjoying it. Simon is just a wonderful human.
bear’s on top form as always, not a day off 🤣 i hope she doesnt become a full time momma, she has such a lovely pop, or should i say ping 🤣💞❤️
I love Simon!!!
Don’t we all ❤️
Get Simon on Bear . You might be surprised
So so interesting. Simon is such a perceptive teacher. Love watching your lessons
I love what you do Meg. Such an inspiration and icon ❤
I had my welshes eyes tested and you wouldn’t believe the things they see that you don’t ! Amazing bear shows so many elements that my mare does and honestly I’ve stopped trying to push her as the things she saw each day freaked her out also to ride and in all that time she would give and give but I didn’t realise that see couldn’t see in a normal way . Just trying to help as my mare was exactly the same as bear!. It’s due to all the bad breeding that’s it’s taken to have the breed we have today !bear is just asking you for trust but it’s not a good thing to do as she’s already tried to tell u hun so no go hun she’s trying to tell u xx
That’s really interesting and explains a lot about bear.
She’s shows all the elements
Why don’t we ever think like this about horses that they don’t see the same ?? All our sights are different RIGHT ! Thank goodness I did this for my horse as she’s still in work that I can work her to and know she’s ok with but I don’t push it and she’s sooo happy xx
I'm just beginning to learn about equine vision, fascinating...🖖🖖
Simon videos are some of my favorites! Really looking forward to seeing this series you guys have in store 👀
Ps I love Simon. He is such a great coach.
Love these lesson type of videos, I learn so much from them despite me not having my own horse I just love seeing how you and the ponies improve 💕
I think this pony still has a lot to teach you, Meg (and that’s not taking away from the great job you’ve done with her thus far). I love Simon’s way of teaching and think it’s great for us to see this approach.
😂.......Simon, can you walk over it first please.......says Bear.
Simon is like a young lad, baby talk and loving Bear. Great vlog guys.
Bear is one of those horses brought into your life to make you a better rider. ❤
bear looked so relaxed and happy in this video. with the funny horses, especially mares, I think finding a way to do it KIND OF their way and make it seem like their idea is how you go about it. picking fights and perfectionism and demanding is always a sure way to get decked. being firm, in a friendly way and presenting it in the most horse-friendly way is the way to go.
I love Bear. She has so much talent in such a small cute little package. If she was 15-16 hands she would be a Grand Prix horse. Holy moly!
awe this was so sweet, and seemed great for her !!
Her coat is so gorgeous! The way it contrasts with her darker colors is to die for! 😍
Early bear lovers sign in!
Another epic Bear episode! Simon is so cool! I'm always amazed at how the learning just keeps going with the team of horse and rider! Super sweet one Meg!!!❤ Happy birthday tomorrow! Eat lots of cake cuz I'm on a diet. Lol!
You both needed this!
Wow, Bear’s coat seems so light now!
It’s because she just clipped her.
We all want a Simon lesson ❤
Yes we do. Despite the fact I live in Australia
@@dioneburt-douglas4942Maryland, USA here 😂
You and bear are doing great!❤
Thank you! ❤️
Bear Back at Badders Team!
I understand that bear is a spooky horse and you’d rather not lose your stirrups, but I would recommend bringing your stirrups down one or two holes. Not criticizing, just recognizing!!
Classiest pony on the internet (even if she can be a tad dramatic )😂❤
just a tad 🤣😆
Hahah I’ll take that 😂
I want a Simon lesson!! This is the next best thing. Thank you for posting!
Love hearing Simon's perspective, he's such a great rider and having another person look at your riding is always good practice! Really enjoyed the chilled out vibes Simon brings to Bear's spicy nature however I too would love to see him get on said spicy pony 😂
Since Rich is far too much of a daddy long legs for Bear, I believe a Simey/Bear video is a must!
Thank you so much for posting this. I found it very helpful for my Welsh D mare. ❤
More bear and Simon content! Simon needs to jump bear next! Or take bear out cross country schooling for a lesson with Simon!! 10:38
She's just a very very very talented pony, Extremely careful and jumps with excellent technique, It's great that you're working on keeping her calm .
She could have a top jumping horse or pony if she was bred to the proper stallion.
Shes a very talented horse
I have been waiting.. and it is here now .. yay😌🥰😍
LOVE Simon content. LOVE Bear content. 100% would pay for Simon on Bear content!
😂😂😂
Yes please Simon having a ride on Bear too
Love a Simon lesson😊
Bear seems so happy to be back in work and so much more relaxed in herself. Just the way her tail always swings freely now. And I'm so impressed by how you approached this lesson. It cannot be easy to admit that you got a bit carried away with the mostly positive but sometimes also scary excitement of having Bear. Kudos!
I could watch Simon teaching all day long
Love Bear content, she is the best!!❤
Yay can't wait!
Thanks for this Meg - I have one very nervous pony, with all the jump in the world but we had a fall and now poles on the floor are tricky. My other is very novice, bold as brass but no idea what to do with her legs! I’m also not the bravest. Seeing this has validated that it’s really ok to work slow, for me and the ponies. It’s also confirmed the need for Simon lessons! 😅
Great lesson! Seems to me that's just what Bear needs and Simon is spot on re: YOU calming yourself. That mare reads you like a book LOL. I really really want to see Simon ride her--hoping that is being saved for Vlogmas! Fingers crossed!
Wonderful learning lesson!
I have a pony that’s just like Bear and that’s probably why I love bear vids so much bc I can relate to Meg a lot x
I loveee this your literally my idollll
She is so amazing!!! 🥰🥰 Now she's both Rich and Simon approved!!! 😂😂 Think you need to take her out eventing Meg!!! When you had your first sit on her after her foal break I though you looked a bit big on her...... but now it seems you've fitted back together! More like perfect partners!!! ❤❤ How did you do that?? Love Bear!!!
