Yep! As the master's level CrossFit athlete ages, a TKR isn't off the radar and keeping this option in the program is a great way to stay strong into any age.
I was thrilled to be able to use the rowing machine 'normally' by my third week post op. I use the bike to warm up but I love the rower to work a larger range of motion and get some upper body work in at the same time.
I love the rower but the only one available for my use is close to the ground. With my surgical knee at 120° and the non-surgical one needing TKR, I don’t know if it’s a possibility for me.
Thank you for your channel and great advice for TKR recovery! I had both knees done about 1.5 years ago (first R then L). Prior to surgery, I rowed a lot because it was easy on my poor knees and provides a mostly-total body workout (great calorie burn). After surgery, I rode an recumbent bike then slowly started rowing again. At first, it was hard with my limited ROM, but after a while, my ROM improved and now I am pretty much back to my normal workout and ROM. It can be a bit boring, but good music can help the time go by. Concept 2 are great ergs, but there are really lots of great ones out there (air, water or magnetic resistances). Rowing has really made a huge difference in my recovery and in keeping me healthy.
This is SO encouraging! I have a Concept 2 (I'm a former rower). I have always hated it (much prefer to be on the water), but I think it is going to become my best friend very soon! (Surgery set for Nov 28). Thanks SO MUCH for this video!!!!
@@totaltherapysolutions pretty well! I had to stay over night because I passed out cold yesterday after standing. Doc is thrilled with the outcome and I can already tell that this was the right decision!
This could be a great option for those CrossFit members who are having knee replacements and don't want to quit CrossFit.

Thanks a million for this video! I would have got back on my erg long ago if I had found this sooner. (Now at 13 weeks PO and bored with biking.)
