    I bought these and then took them back after finding washing machine Isolator pucks gave identical performance benefits. Clearer midrange with no bloom, bouncier bass, better timing transient leading edge stuff. They make a big difference but so do washing machine pucks at £8 for 4. They might not look as fancy but they definitely sound it 😂👍🏼

      After seeing this comment I went and bought washing 12 washing machine pucks off amazon for 40 bucks 4 for a 12 inch sub and I only needed 3 per 8 inch monitor. I already had foam isolation pads before switch to the washing pucks so the speakers were already somewhat isolated but the difference is night and day especially for the subwoofer. The clarity and transient difference is very noticeable in my room. Thank you for your comment it saved me 180+ bucks vs the iso acoustics,

    This might sound silly, but have you ever considered using a washing machine anti-vibration mat cut to size ( I think they contain Sorbothane or something similar, and are available in various thicknesses ) They only cost about 10 or 20 quid.

    I'm specifically looking for a solution to prevent vibrations through the house for the sake of OTHERS that are in the home, not clarity of sound. Do you recommend?

  • @annekedebruyn7797

    You'll notice the difference even more when you are using these on a console or on a studio desk. Really night and day really.
    The only thing I wonder is how much difference it would make compared to the cheaper foam ones.

    Thanks for your review. Preventing vibrations from your speaker stands to affect the sound. You hit the nail in the head.
    I had the mo pads and tried the Iso pucks. I found in comparison the pads dampend the sound a little while the pads are a little clearer.
    The one annoying thing is if you want to move your heavy monitors once they are on the pucks, it is difficult as the pucks stick to the bottom of your monitors and you have to pull them off and then relocate them on your stands

    How much weight can they hold each? Say a pair of studio monitors weight 10 lbs / 4.5kg or less and you either balance each speaker on one or put one centered near the front so the speaker is angled up and only the back corner is touching the desk?

    hey streaky, there is another british youtuber who has a video called "iso puck alternative for only £2". so i was hoping you would be interested in A-B testing those cheap foam hockey pucks against these more expensive and professional isoacoustics pucks. to see if it really is a valid substitute or not. The way the foam hockey puck is constructed seems to suggest they might work. at least to some degree. But is it good enough to be a legitimate alternative? we can only really find out if there is somebody willing to do a fair and reaonsable A-B testing comparing the two options. Is that the sort of thing that would motivate you / be interesting enough to do a follow up video on? (... 2 years later). i left an additional comment yesterday over on the other youtuber's £2 video where you can actually buy these things now in the UK (8 of them for £30). Since the original store no longer sells them anymore. in case you wanted to get your hands on some. and take a look for yourself. kind regards

    What about the Mini Pucks? 8 cost about 100 € here in Europe. That is half the price of the normal ones.

    • @KRELL427
      @KRELL427 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It all depends on how much weight you put on them . Must be within their weight limit to work the best.

      Dude, just buy sorbothane pads from a reputable dealer and away you go. No need for this fancy BS

  • @luifranco1457
    @luifranco1457 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I wonder how they compare to Sorbothane? Sorbothane is expensive for what it is, but in order to get it right, you have to take the weight of your speakers into account, and use their calculator to find out what thickness you need. I use it under my subs and it tightened up the lows like nothing I had tried before (spikes, primacoustic pad, etc.)

    I'm sure they do a good job, but the price is just too steep for what you get (consider you need 8 of those for 2 speakers). There are much better things to invest your money in. Then again I can understand if you have everything else you need, and money is not the issue for you, by all means...

    I would love to use isoacoustics pucks, but I can't justify $50 CAD per puck (about $150-$200 per speaker) when I have A/B'ed the iso stuff and some homemade versions made of hockey pucks and felt for a grand total of about $25 for 4. The difference between Isoacoustics and my homemade pucks being imperceptiable.
    I will grant that they made a huge difference when placed on a desk/meter bridge, but for my speakers on acoustically seperated speaker stands the extra degree of seperation from the stand itself gave no favour to isoacoustics
