I have always admired those who know how to work and create as you do. I just work the wire and the beads but I love your dexterity. One kiss from Italy
Respect for leaving a comment to the author. I would be grateful if you look at my content and rate it. In one of the videos, I made a gold case for a Zippo lighter.
This grandmother loves your work, mits impeccable, BTW !!..I'd like to try this in Copper, so I think my torch will work unless you think I should get a bigger one...I love working with copper sheet metal.. I make my own caps too, LOVE working with metal and wire..thanks for your fabulous video
Thanks for the video. I am teaching people with special needs goldsmithing. And now with the lockdown I teach some theory daily by zoom and your film is one that allows me to show a good and simple technique we can when we do in the workshop when we can back to normalcy. So again thanks for the well shown process.
Thank you so much for this video. It has inspired me to go to my bench and give it a go.. first attempt was ok, made it with Copper and STG. Long way to go before it's perfected 😁
Would you possibly be able to provide a complete parts/tools list to create these awesome things? I've been dying to give it a try! Thanks so much for these excellent videos!
Could you please post a link to the flat measuring tool you used for bracelets and ring stock? I have the HARDEST time getting my measurements correct and that would help me SO MUCH! Thank you... and thank you for sharing your technique.
I would suggest that you take closer shots. There were parts of it I couldn't see, especially at double speed. Also large parts of it has no audio, so I couldn't hear either. I'm not complaining, just letting you know. Really beautiful finished bracelet!
Yea I know this video had issues so I remade it and fixed the audio and got better close ups. Check out my video Petite Viking Cuff for much better video and audio
Beautiful work! Can you please tell me what gauges of wire you used? The sound kept going out and I don't know that I heard most of what you said. Thanks for sharing!
Yea this video has some issues so I ended up posting a second video with the same process but a slightly different variation called “Petite Viking Style Twist Cuff” in this video the core wire was 2mm and the outer wires were 1mm wire twisted together
Yea I started out doing this without a core wire and my results were good, but when I went to shape them I kept having spacing issues, which I know means I didn’t get my twist tight enough, so I decided to add the core wire and it completely got rid of that problem.
Sorry This video had some issues. The last solder I used was easy, and if you want a better view of the twist I actually uploaded another video of this style cuff called Petite Viking style twist cuff and it’s sound isn’t messed up and also I did a closed shot of how to twist it at real time speed. Thank you
Yea this video had some issues, I ended up making a second video called Petite Viking Style twist cuff that is the same style cuff with smaller wire and there are better close ups and no sound issues
@@ZinkSterling I'm just getting into working with copper and consuming every video I can find. Your presentation is one of the best out there. Thanks again
Thank you, Niello(Blackened) silver far predates the Viking and was very common. The method of using sulphur is the traditional method. You can also do it with the cooked yolk of an egg which produces sulphur as well.
Kevin Damphouse Hey you are my 1,000th subscriber. Shoot me and email at zinksterling@gmail.com and I will get your info and send you one of these cuffs. Thank you!
Why is it necessary to put it in a kiln at 550 for an hour - or at all? Is it too brittle? This is really nice. Looking forward to trying it out. I understood it perfectly! Thanks for your generosity!
Putting it in the kiln isn’t because it’s brittle. It makes the sterling springy so it doesn’t get misshapen when you try to put it on and off. Some cuffs are pretty much soft and when you put them on you squeeze the sides together to make it fit your wrist better. Soft cuffs will eventually take a stress fracture from bending back and forth over a long period of time, where spring hardened metal flexes instead of bends, and does not get that stress fracture. Or at least not for a much much longer time.
And it’s Sterling Silver. I have seen some people make them from copper as well. No steel ones yet but I’m sure it could be done. Steel shouldn’t change any of the wire thicknesses.
I have to tell you Sir that this is one cool looking twist. Also, this can be used to make an antenna with killer gain because of the intricate pattern you have woven with wire. Thanks for the idea Sir too. Peace vf
Yes sorry about that. I am working to fix the audio. A false copyright claim caused a large amount of the audio to bet muted. I am trying to see what I can do to fix it. Thank you
I’m not sure if a forge would work as I don’t have much knowledge on how they run, but if it can regulate temperature for the times required then it should. I have a propane burner I use sometimes, but that thing is basically all on or all off and it would not work.
I really That You for sharing your knowledge " But " , I promise I'm not trying to be a hard @$$. The viewing frame is really small , n the adio keeps dropping out. Yea this video has some issues so I ended up posting a second video with the same process but a slightly different variation called “Petite Viking Style Twist Cuff” in this video the core wire was 2mm and the outer wires were 1mm wire twisted together
To get the same effect, a smaller scale, take two of the clock wise strands and tight twist by hand counter clockwise
Yea I started out doing this without a core wire and my results were good, but when I went to shape them I kept having spacing issues, which I know means I didn’t get my twist tight enough, so I decided to add the core wire and it completely got rid of that problem.
Also it adds some weight to the cuff which I felt it was missing.
I couldn't see what you soldered on to the endcaps at the very end. I would also like to see the twisting a little more slowly. Nice technique!

Interesting project . had been wondering how that pattern was wrapped .I tend to make viking knitting work myself in both hard and soft materials .
Yea Viking knit is a whole other beast. That’s one that I am just not to great at.
@@ZinkSterling I've been playing with it for close to 18 years silver copper nylon and kevlar and elastic cord as well all work to varying degrees .
Great skills and great bracelet. I think a real viking would wear pristine white silver though, there was no sulphur pollution in the air back then.

what a great idea using the drill, you're not wearing yourself out twisting the wire.

Sterling silver

@@ZinkSterling Thank you for answering, you are very kind. I will try to make one.
Great video, love the work, but there were quite a few sound breaks where I was hearing nothing and wasn't sure what you were doing
Curious if you have to use a Kiln for the last part or can you use a regular propane forge? I'm completely new to any of this so i'm looking to learn.

A soldering iron would not produce enough heat. The solder flows at almost the melting point of the silver. And thank you

Thank you for that, i really enjoyed it. I haven't got a kiln for the last annealing, is it inadvisable to use a torch because of risk of melting?
The kiln is actual to harden it and you couldn’t do it with a torch because you would have to maintain 575°F for an hour to get the desired effect.
I like how you have the voice over.
