Same as you we didn't see many Hyundai iMax or iLoad conversion so I am happy to have a tour of yours. Thank you.
FYI: We put a 9 litre brass monkey freezer between the front seats to supplement the 40 litre waco fridge. Meat for a week, and ice too so I don't need to put water or wine in the fridge.
We kept the back seats and removed the middle row. The tri-fold bed is behind the front seats and the backs of the back seats is our 'headboard'.
When in campervan mode we use the space under the bed for storage.
The bed is folded up against the front seats when in passenger mode and we can have five people in the van to get around town.
The kitchen box is in the 'boot' and we have a reimo tailgate tent for privacy. There is 40 litres of water on the roof, 240 watts of solar and an awning on either side of the van.
We kept the factory lining as is but installed limousine tint on the windows and have travelled in -0° - 30+°. Each night we hang our beach and bath towels around the mattress to trap our body heat in winter, and to block light pollution too.
    Thanks again for the tour...

So good! Loved the tour. You did such a great job maximising your space and I love your spice rack too! Very clever solution for your water. That camp site looks amazing! Take care and I look forward to the next video xx

Cheers Steph! Glad you liked our setup! Laptop is broken at the moment so next one won’t be up for a while!

Very tidy install guys! How do you find the petrol engine on fuel? Most iLoads/iMaxs in the country seem to be turbo diesels, which made sense a decade ago but with it being ~20c a litre more expensive these days… :-/

It’s a little heavy on fuel, about 12L/100km but the engines last way longer than the turbo diesel!

Hey guys great build, is there enough room to fit a fridge between the 2 front seats?

Hey thanks heaps! Yeah for sure, you could put one of the small centre console fridges that dometic and other brands make. The space is about 290mmx500mm 👍🏼

Hey guys, love your set up! What’s the material on the walls? Thanks!

Thanks heaps! We just insulated the walls and covered them with 3mm ply in most past and 5mm ply in other areas. We used a fabric for the ceiling!

Hey I am looking to get an Imax 2010 version, we’re the windows any trouble to black out (the back ones) and was it easy to remove the brackets for where the seats were for the back?

    • @roamingtheblue
      @roamingtheblue  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hey Tim. The windows were pretty easy to black out, little bit fiddly cutting it to the right shape but wasn't too bad. And we actually couldn't get the sliding brackets out for the centre row of seats, so we pushed them forward and built the platform on top of it. The back ones all came out easy.

Go the Imax, often overlooked, heaps of features. We love our Imax, and where it takes us.
great to see the fire extinguisher and blanket, you did a lot of work on the van. have you checked out the space under the passenger footwell?

Great van hey! It hasn’t let us down yet. The aircon unit is under the footwell in ours, is there extra space?

@@roamingtheblue in the 2015 imax it's like where the jack is under the driver, but just empty space.

Hey guys, great video. I'm looking at converting an imax as well and looking to build a similar layout. My only question is how do you find ventilation at night? Do you just leave the side windows partially open to allow a breeze in? Would you put in a roof vent in if you were to build it again? Cheers

Hey Matthew, awesome mate! Yeah we just pop out all the side windows, and we also have the sirrocco fan so if it’s a bit hot we pump that and it generally helps quite a bit. We find on the really cold mornings there’s still a bit of condensation build up but I wouldn’t put a ceiling fan in ours because popping the windows works fine! Does your imax allow all the windows to pop out?
