    I simply don't know how you don't have 2 billion subs at this point - for the following reasons:
    1. You sing like a frickin' angel
    2. Your mastery of music theory and amazingly understandable presentation of it is beyond any music teacher I've ever seen
    3. You're gorgeous and seem like one of the nicest people anyone would want to meet

    Wow, it looks like all these incredibly positive comments go on for miles! And after watching this, I understand why ... you're a fantastic teacher and know how to explain difficult concepts with great clarity. About the only thing I could add is that with no music background I purchased my first dobro at age 70. It's been challenging, but now at 75 I'm able to play about 15 or 20 tunes. But I could never understand much theory or the Circle of 5ths. Finally this weekend I just decided that I had to somehow figure it out if I wanted to advance much further. I accidentally stumbled onto your site and it was eye-opening. I've been glued to my screen watching and taking notes. Thank you so much!!! I've watched two of your circle videos so far, and can't wait to get into minor keys, diatonic chords, etc. You've helped me rediscover the magic of playing music! Thank you so much!!!!!!

    Hi Gracie, Gerald here again. I'm a self taught bass player with no music theory back ground. I played with a guitar player Noah Nihau from Hawaii who first introduced me to circle of fifths he didn't really explain it to me in detail but suggested I learn it and now I'm learning it with you thank you! His playing was very creative, I'm sure the circle of fifths had a lot to do with it, that's what I want. He has since passed away and I miss him and his playing..😔

    This, like your other videos, is extremely helpful. I'm in my 13th month of learning guitar and music theory, as a hobby, being an adult with a family, job, mortgage, etc. Just a few days ago I attempted to write a chord progression of my own. I did it by ear trying to find chords and rhythm that sounded good. Though I did lean on what little I know of theory. I did find something I really liked. And I now practice it daily. It turns out I used tension and release, and shared adjacent keys in my short composition without knowing it. Now I know why it sounds good and is enjoyable to listen to. Thanks again for your excellent teaching methods from one of your Patreons.

    Nice video... I've always used the circle of 5ths purely for jazz. Here's a tidbit to add to that... if you are going down a fifth, flatten the 7th, which creates the fourth of the scale of the next key a fifth down. Oppositely, going up a fifth, you sharpen the fourth to get the 7th of the next key up. I really like the key change usage, especially for a complex tune. Thanks!

    I went to a Tony Robbins seminar years ago and remember 1 important thing. He said you have to find powerful reasons to do something that you've been avoiding for whatever reason but you know you need to do. I've been avoiding learning the Circle of Fifths but now I have the powerful reasons as he expressed it to learn them. Thank you

    Light bulb moment as I watched your video - I can use the circle to figure out the chords for a typical 145 blues progression. 1 step counter clock wise for 4 chord and 1 step clockwise for the 5 chord! Love these moments! Thanks very much for your lessons

    When you explain the complimentary relationships vs those that are not when opposed. it always helps to use songs everybody knows to illustrate the point! That's how teachers set concepts into concrete. It takes those on the edge of grasping the concepts to ringing the bell! Just a suggestion that might help you be able to set your teachings in a higher percentage of the students tuning in! Otherwise, carry on. Always a pleasure!

    This is SUUUUUPER HELPFUL!!! I’ve been trying to understand this and nobody breaks it down as simply as you do! Everybody talks about the I, IV and V chords but nobody explains why they matter so much. You’re such a good teacher! Thank you!!

    I have watched dozens of videos about this with not good results.. All I got from it was a bague understanding of it. No one explained it with such an ease and understanding like you. You are a brilliant teacher. I'm happy I found you. Thank you! Keep up the good work.

    I’ve just stumbled across this and it’s the only explanation that makes sense. I’ve just got back into playing the piano and struggling with this but it’s starting to make sense. You’re the only person who differentiates between, “here’s a pattern,“ and “You just need to find a way to remember this.” Hopefully the penny will drop when I can apply this. Many thanks. I’ll definitely check out your other videos. I do feel some teachers enjoy making this as complicated as possible. That’s why these videos are great.

    Superb video. Very clearly explained. My first chord lesson was in the year 1978, now in Dec 2022 I understood circle of 5ths. Thank you. The other confusion is always on modes. I hope there would be video on modes and simpler/ logical way for remembering and applying. Thanks once again...🙏🙏🙏

    I just bought my upgraded Yamaha, a P45, and it arrived yesterday. So I needed to brush up on my piano lesson that I learned when I was 7 years old. Im almost 70 now. I learned piano the classic or solfeo way. This is totally Greek to me. But at 70 I have learned the great benefit of humility and just enough self-confidence that makes me aspire for more wisdom and knowledge. Ive naturally never learned about the Circle of 5th and 4th, even when I studied piano for 8 years until I entered college and my medical-related profession got the upper hand and piano time could not even compete with my attention span. But with the new Keyboard Im determined to start from scratch. I am still completely confused about the whole Circle. Just bits and pieces of understanding but I still cant connect the dots. Maybe with time my brain might catch on. Who knows I might have an epiphany. My new Yamaha might help make that happen. Thanks for this lesson anyhow.

      Have you got it down after 7 months? It took a concentrated effort on my part to understand it, but I've finally reached the point where it's totally clear. If you have any questions, I'd be glad to help answer them, as a keyboard player myself.

    • @tazg349
      @tazg349 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@abc456f Nope! I did try. But hopeless for me. You cant teach old dogs new tricks and that's me. LOL! I took whatever music books I kept all these years and resurrected them. I have one modern pop music book for the 70s to 90s contemporary songs and an old music book with all my classic pieces I learned from yester years. Im currently mastering three songs, Moonlight Sonata, Just the Way You Are, Prelude in E Minor. I start with songs I generally enjoy to listen to keep the motivation up but actually I just play these to restart my piano fingering up to par and revive my old pattern of not looking at my fingers again. Oh my! this is like starting from scratch. But its ok, Im retired and its one of my hobbies I believe is just as good as playing word puzzle for my brain health. Thanks for your helpful response.
