    I lived and worked in Ruidoso; More than once a "Texan" would tell me "you live in heaven". I smiled as you commented heading back home to the flat lands., I could relate being considered a "Texan" for many years.

      It really is pretty up there. If Texas wasn’t so big, taking 2 days to get out of it, I’d be in that area more often!

    Such a pretty drive. I know how you feel leaving the mountains back into the heat. I guess that’s one of the things that draws us back to the mountains again and again.

      Yes! It’s just so nice. The heat this summer in Texas was oppressive!

    Thanks for the ride along. Enjoyed it very much. You will have to do like Rusty is doing, stay by the air conditioner until you can make another trip 😊👍

      Thank you! Hopefully, it’ll start dropping a little bit here. Low 90’s is better than triple digits!

    Beautiful scenery for a day trip. Glad you got some relief from the heat. I would have a hard time going back to it as well.

      You definitely should! So many places to camp. Thanks for the compliment lol. I like yours too. Interesting how we can hear the subtle differences in them. I know I sound like a hick to some people, but I don’t care. 🤣👍🏼

    I had not been to that area in NM until this mid April. Thoroughly enjoyed coming to and fro to Tuscon and around to Apache Junction. It is an experience to have the temp changes in such a small but diverse area in NM. Cloudcroft eating at Dave's was also a delight as well as camping at Oliver Lee. Good time in mid to late April temp wise. But with an overnight in Capitan it got down to low 20's. But trip was awesome.

      I know I kept talking about the temps, but it was SO nice coming from 105 in Texas.

    Wow, very beautiful place, Poodle Professor!! This Okie will be so glad for Summer 2022 to be done. It's been a long one. Can't wait for October and Fall. My favorite time of year. Some day, I'd love to see that part of New Mexico. The southeastern one-third of Oklahoma is also forested and hilly in the Ouachita Mtns. but still can easily be 100 deg. plus in the summer. New Mexico's got us beat!!!! You post the coolest videos! Thanks so much!

    • @poodleprofessor
      @poodleprofessor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the compliment! I knew we were in trouble when we hit triple digits in June! I’ve looked at Oklahoma for camping in the cooler temps. It’s beautiful up there.

    At the time watching your video it’s 100 in the Black Hills SD, thanks for the ride along it was nice to see green grass. What’s the difference in fuel mileage driving empty and pulling the camper.👍👍

    • @poodleprofessor
      @poodleprofessor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh man, I’ve heard it’s hot up there. I’ve read that pulling the camper you get about 10-11 mpg. I definitely notice the difference but I haven’t done the math. I just fill and go! Like Rusty says “don’t worry about what you cannot change.” 🤣

    Great video. After watching videos from both you and Rusty, I get a sense of familiarity with that area of New Mexico. I was following you along on my atlas. I definitely plan to visit the area. Thank you for taking the time to show us the dog parks. Traveling with my big German Shepard Girl, means stops to stretch her legs. My Baby Girl is a rescue with some anxiety, so I try to avoid noisy gas stations for walks. She likes the dog parks or walking in more natural settings. I'm looking forward to following you along on your travels. Take care.

      Thank you so much! I get the same sense of familiarity when watching Rusty’s travels in New Mexico. I like it because it’s not TOO far for me to venture out of Texas to get to beautiful scenery. The dog parks are definitely nice for letting the dogs stretch their legs and explore. Plus, they’re not used to pooping while on a leash! Mine don’t like gas stations either. I stop at rest stops also for quick stops. When I’m
      traveling through small towns, the courthouse square is also a nice grassy area to stop. I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos! 💙

    Would you say the dogs are more used to the camper since the beginning? And 65°, wow!

    • @poodleprofessor
      @poodleprofessor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They’re definitely used to the camper now. When we get back from a hike or drive in the truck, they’re ready to get into the AC! Yes, the temperature was so nice!

    Have you thought about Alpine back to Del Rio and San Antonio via Hwy.90? I came back in middle of July to 110 degrees in North Texas. Why didn't I stay till Fall in Ft. Davis??? Cause I'm an idiot I guess🤣

    • @poodleprofessor
      @poodleprofessor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! I did that route last Fall while camping near Big Bend. I thought staying a little more north wouldn’t be so hot and I thought I might stop at Abilene SP. It was so dang hot, I pushed through to get home.

      @@poodleprofessor I know I’m going to be spending more time there, I jump around depending on temps. I notice your channel is growing so does that mean you can retire soon 😂 When Rusty was growing in the early years I use put him on auto ply like he said to do, Then do something else and come back and hit play again. Yours I been giving you the 👍to help out, I do like your videos and I think in time when you retire you could be rich, good luck just don’t up.

I’m hoping the tow’n is lots less stressful… as my age grows I haven’t enjoyed towing it … the old one was dual axle the new one single and is only 3000 lbs vs 6900 but lit less living space… we making plans to go back to NM after a short break in trip… pick it up Wednesday… teach up Professor
