It's a crying shame to buy something and not enjoy it though. You might as well just put money into a high interest account or something. Buy something, enjoy it, if you get some back for it at a future point, bonus!
Your passion and anxiety are appreciated and understood. A deep dive into any of them would be a great watch- the car YOU are the most interested in would be the best video to watch. Thanks for sharing your stable with us!👍
I have the same Silk Cut Jaguar but...I built it from an expensive plastic kit! My love of that model is much greater than any of my die cast models. My blood sweat and tears went into that Jag.
Exoto models are made in California, they're amazing, i have a Williams carbon livery fw 14b test car in my collection of about 120 1/18 scale cars, the detail is incredible.
As an 1/43 collector, when you pulled out the hpi triple set, i got goosebumps. I’d give my left one for the Sauber-Mercedes set, but the Porsche or Jaguar sets are just as awesome. That exoto xjr-9 is just breathtaking, btw. Also, while getting a xjr in 1/43 might be easier than 1/18, actually sourcing one with the silk cut decals took me months of patient eBay watching (thank you, seller from France!) Currently, I’m only one TWR XJ-S etcc car away from finishing my racing jaguar collection and as much as I spend on models, the technology and stories they all represent never fail to bring joy to my life.
I had 30+ 1:18 models placed in my display cabinet and one day while I was cleaning the models the shelf supports gave way and my complete collection came tumbling down out of the cabinet in front of my eyes. Half of the models had minor damage but the resin models especially were completely destroyed. One of the worst days in recent memory so I totally understand your behavior when handling your most precious models.
Those TWR Jaguars bring back some pretty powerful memories for me. I had a pretty bad motorcycle accident a few months before le man....my friend and I decided not to go to le man, but a few days before the race, we met up and by the end of the night, had booked tickets to the race. Seeing those 3 jags cross the finish line was unbelivable
Thank you, Mike, for sharing your car collection. Exoto makes excellent scale models. I had a phone conversation with the owner of Exoto a number of years ago. He was extremely passionate about getting all of the details correct on the race liveries. If you are interested in very high quality 1:18 older classic race cars check out CMC scale models.
Not really, he even payed way more than some of them are worth. It's a shame, because he could have gotten better versions of them for almost the same price. The exoto is the only one that's kinda in its real value. That's what happens when you don't know where to buy nor investigate enough before doing a purchase. I'm not saying it's a bad collection, though, it only saddens me that it could be greater for less.
Beautiful collection. I am also an obsessive model collector (mainly 1/16 tanks and 1/32 lead soldiers) and I can tell you that you must get them out on display. The joy of a collection for me is to see it all together and be able to compare items. You just need some decent glass cabinets. Enjoy your wonderful cars. Every time you walk past the cabinets you will stop and admire them. It will make you happy every day. I have 6 separate collections (models, amber, ancient silver jewellery, meteorites, prehistoric stone tools and RC vehicles) and they are all on display. My whole house is a collection. I admire them all the time. Pretty sure Buddhism is not for me...
Interesting video DriveTribe, it's always great seeing such model cars in detail. It's also great to hear a history/details about the real cars! Thanks and bring us more of these!
Love your collection. It hits all of the right marks. Thanks for opening the Jag's for us. Believe me, I felt your pain as you opened the boxes. Also loved the Victory by Design footage. Cheers!
Thanks for sharing your model collection, Mike! Those are some beautiful collectables! As a Mustang fanatic, I have 1/18 scale models of every generation of Ford Mustang on one of my shelves.
I felt your pain.. I have to be honest, I've never been and I'm not, a fan of those style of racing cars. However, you obviously are. When I was a kid I collected 1:18 Bburago Models. Must have had 40. I absolutely loved them, but my cousins got hold of a couple of them and mirrors broke, spoilers came off... Wheels... You know. I'm now 40, and still gutted. Thank you for putting yourself through that for this video thoroughly enjoyed it. Let us know when you've got your display cabinet sorted, would love to see it 👌👍
Yeah man, I had a HUGE collection of 1:18 as well, some particularly nice AutoArt and my mother threw them ALL AWAY after I went to college!!!!! 10 years later i'm STILLLLL gutted! I'll never get those back.
@@MicahPotts I've never understood this, be it baseball cards, model cars, whatever... you don't just throw away someone else's collection! I'm truly sorry for your loss, and Ray's as well.
Ha Ha I understand your pain. I Had 3 HUGE cast Tonka trucks that I could basically sit on when I was 4/5. I'm now 37 and still frequently remind the Mother what a fool she was for giving them away when I grew out of them. Hindsight is a lovely thing.
It’s not embarrassing at all it’s something you love doing your knowledge is impressive you carry on as you are and to hell with the ppl that think differently everyone should have a hobby keeps you out of trouble i really enjoyed this video thanks for showing us your collection
I just bought these cases for my 1/18 models that have LED lights in the corners to show off the car as if it was in a show room for $30. If you want cases for your models I highly suggest getting ones with lights to show off the color of the car
I have several Exoto models, they are probably in the top 5 of great models, being retired now, I can't afford them. I have the Exoto 917 Sunoco model with both the bird cage and full body models, it's valued around $4500.00 now.
Porsche 917, without any doubt. You are so passionate about your collection. I understand how you feel about them, but you have to get your display case to display them.
Everyone is entitled to be nerdy about their passions, whatever they are. It's what makes us interesting to some and boring to others. No matter if others love or hate your particular passions, they are yours to cherish.
Nice! If you do display watch the lighting as they can be affected by uv. I would rotate and display for a couple of months a year so they don't get light damaged. Not normally a Porsche fan but my favourite is the 917K. 😎
Awesome collection.... I have a few CMC pre war German race cars and the MB 196 and transporter that are stored in their boxes currently as I don’t have a nice display case....Nice models are just very nice !
I can't stand Shmee but your model collection is next level! Small but perfectly formed! I have an ever growing Ferrari collection of all scales, maybe one day it will be worth more than a real one!!
Great collection!! It was great to see how stressed you were :) The Peugeot engined Mclaren was the mp4/9 though, not the mp4/10 which was the first Merc engined Mclaren. Also, Exoto is an American brand.
Hi, I totally agree and felt the same, when you opened the boxes with the two Jaguar's! So rare like a jackpot! And absolutely marvelous models. I too collect all race car models from the NOREV manufacturer. Luckily my wife likes my hobby ! Greetings and best wishes for a happy collecting !
So my first bad habbit was model cars, 1/24 and 1/25 scale. The plastic ones you just put together and paint yourself. Lately I have been building 1/10 scale rc cars, monster trucks, and scale 4x4s Man this was so cool.
They may not be like those, but the most realistic models, I’ve have ever seen are Pocher kits. For example, if the rims were wire spokes, you had to build the rims w/little “wire spokes”. Real leather, real carpet. Amazing detail. Kits can run upwards of $2000.00.
I can't believe I'm watching and enjoying a video about model cars. Then again, I did the same for Doug Demuro's models. I'd love to get a model made of my truck once I get the dark gunmetal wheels and carbon fiber tailgate/roof spoiler on. It'd be a sweet looking model.
Mike must be drooling when watching Martin Brundle on the F1 podcasts, with that giant XJR model of the car he drove on the bookcase behind him. That thing is massive! I wonder if it was a one-off.

Please please do content on the Aston LMP1, Peugeot 905 and even a history lesson of the Jaguars that raced in Group C. Amazing models by the way. Thanks for the video.
I bought my first and only Amalgam 1/8th Ferrari F2004 F-1 model a few years back. The most accurate and detailed model I’ve ever owned. Very expensive but so worth it when you display it properly. Has turned out to be a great investment as only 30 were made.
The love that he expressed talking about these jags is singular, expendable video, but he did not needed to take the wrap out, we would have understood
I love DRIVETRIBE thank you so much Mike hope you are ok and thank you for sharing amazing models very nice. I love models too I have a lot of Holden special vehicles, Brock commodores and some Toronas too. Australian cars love cars. Thank you again for sharing :)
Hey Mike, get yourself a pair of cotton gloves, that way you will not leave fingerprints on the models. They are cheap as chips and will save my OCD when you make another video on your models. I have only one model, it’s I/18 scale and a race car too. The Holden VK Group C Commodore that won the 1984 Bathurst 1000. The detail that modellers can achieve are amazing. Thanks for sharing your collection Mike.
Never understand why people get loads of basically the same or similar cars! The Jag to get is not a winner, but the XJR-14 which is a beauty. The winning ones offend my eyes! But nice collection. Would love to see the Porsche RS Spyder and I'm adding a 1:43 of that to my want list...very pretty car, something about those headlights. I always liked LMP2s with their open cockpits.
Wow man... Nice collection... Really nice... At this moment I have 120 models on my collection from 1:18 to 1:43 scale... My collection is probably around the 1800 pounds mark by my calculations... Fortunately my current real car is worth a lot more than that... But my previous wasn't 😂... What can I say, call us nerds or whatever, but it's a real passion... As for the video I'll go for the iconic Porsche 917 😉
Its so awesome that Mike is so into LeMans, because I love that race. The idea of driving for 24 hours around whats effectively a high-speed street circuit, as a game of endurance, survival, and speed, is so beautiful to me. So all your comments about nerdishness are all understood here hahahaha
Mike, I loved your collection & appreciate you sharing it with us. You come across as a genuine & decent bloke. Forgive me if I've misjudged it but you don't seem as though actually do suffer from ocd. Again, my sincere apologies if I have this wrong. My son suffers from ocd. It is a debilitating condition which ruins lives & not something to be taken lightly when referring to a normal level of care taken with precious possessions. Please don't take offence. I am not angry, just slightly too sensitive about a very serious mental health condition that most people shrug off as being just about light switches & keeping things tidy. Love the channel. A £900 st200 is a bargain. Do you want to sell it?
As a model car collector myself, I totally relate to everything you say. I would love to see more about the 905, since I kind of missed out on that era (pre-internet) of Le Mans. They did not write a lot of it in the car mags here in Sweden either...
I have all of those model cars that was featured in this video aswell😁. You guys make great videos, and are definetly the best automotive TH-cam channel of all time😇
i had and loved my mondeo st24 ..... saloon in ford state blue. as for models, i did have a ricko 1-18 rs200 .... but i got rid of it .... in my garage now, i have a mr2 turbo (thinking of getting rid), but i drive a leaf .... and i like it, it saves me a fortune and just works.
Given the attention to detail, exclusivity, and joy that these models bring to you I consider the investment well worth it and encourage you to continue collecting. I used to race RC cars and can relate to your passion for the hobby.
Very nice collection and it deserves a very nice display. You might want to consider a "Barrister's Bookcase." They are generally made as modular stacking boxes with a glass front that is hinged at the top. No offense meant to your friend's collection, but anybody can have glass shelves that look like they came from some cheap furniture store. Your collection deserves a place of pride worthy of its importance and value. Google barristers bookcase and you will see what I mean. They not only look great, but are also built to last through many of your family's generations. I have a set from my grandfather that still look like the day they were made. The video I would like to see? One of each, of course.
I will gladly see a video on the Peugeot, just because there have been a lot of videos about Porsches & Audis out there compared to this. For me, the car model that I'm gonna get (if i have the money) is definitely the Toyota TS020/GT-One. It's just the coolest car I've ever seen and growing up with Gran Turismo.. It's no question why i loved the GT-One.
@@clemenspfefferkorn4530 No. It's too big 🤭. But I am collecting almost all scales of diecast models. A little cracy, as I am, there are about 40.000 items at the moment 🤷♂️.

I like model cars and have a couple of slot car models and airfix models. One of my favorite things is a model car.
You guys must do more of these videos 👍🏻👍🏻💯💯
I will gladly see a video on the Peugeot, just because there have been a lot of videos about Porsches & Audis out there compared to this.
For me, the car model that I'm gonna get (if i have the money) is definitely the Toyota TS020/GT-One. It's just the coolest car I've ever seen and growing up with Gran Turismo.. It's no question why i loved the GT-One.
i really like to see someting with all of those real versions, but if i need to pick one: the Peugeot 905. really cool video, i watched in awe.
Definitely the Peugot 905 for the next video. I have an Exoto 1989 Sauber Mercedes C9 RLG18196 for sale that you can add to your collection!
917. The sound at full chat.....yaaaaaaaaas.......please. 🇨🇦
About 600x Matchbox and Hot Wheels Die Cast Cars... i just fell in love with my old passion for those little beauties.
Lucky You! Your modelcar collection still fits in one room 😉.
@@daskleinegluck4553 yours not i guess? 😅
@@clemenspfefferkorn4530 No. It's too big 🤭. But I am collecting almost all scales of diecast models. A little cracy, as I am, there are about 40.000 items at the moment 🤷♂️.
That is such a nice collection. I have two Le Mans cars made by Minichamps, in 1:18 scale. I need those models what you have in my collection...😣
