@@darnitthelma4247 In her prime she was a force to be reckoned with. I once saw her 10th row center at Boston's Symphony Hall. Which was mostly the Radio City show. Amazing!
“If people think that Liza is just sequins and shine they don’t know her” her father pushed the ideallyic side of life that reality or the became unreal. She dissociated with the reality of life looking for the rainbow that eventually came by wearing her poor self out. She blew through her body- her hips, her knees . Like Judy , her energy for life far exceeded her physical body. What we have left is a survivor calm enough to appreciate her existence. It’s a miracle that she is still alive quite frankly, and I am proud of her journey. We all have one and we live vicariously through her. That’s her ultimate gift to the world. She has almost worn out her legendary status .
She’s also very kind. As a disabled person, I attended a show at Pizza on the Park in London. She offered to help me up the steps. I knew she had health issues of her own, and politely declined. Of course, I fell over, moments later. But I did not want to take advantage of her kind nature. This was in 1992-I can only hope the venue is accessible now, but I have my doubts. As for Liza? She is a living legend in my eyes.
Sad. When I looked it up I was surprised to learn that Liza Minnelli had not won a Kennedy Center Honor. I think it is about time to nominate this fantastic entertainer, singer, actress and dancer
I was so young-18 or 19 when I just KNEW Liza as the greatest performer drawing breath!! I’ve only gotten to see her live in concert once. But I’ll never forget it. I do worry about her health. But she keeps ‘plugging away’. She’s dealt with so much sadness and tragedy. But she chooses to concentrate on the good things she’s had in her life. God bless, and keep you, Liza!! ***and BTW: I get so D*** FURIOUS when the world acts like Frank Sinatra (whom I DO adore) is responsible for “NEW YORK, NEW YORK” being out in the world and an iconic song!!! LIZA introduced that song to the world…and does it best!! Okay…end of rant.
I am so excited to learn this is coming out. I so hope it will be in theatres. A star of this magnitude, who is almost bigger than life ,needs to be seen on the big screen.
I was privileged to know Liza as a dear friend from 1973 - 2002; She is a really kind, caring, lady; having spent hours backstage at The Palladium and The Royal Albert Hall with her, and some of her closest friends; she always has time for everyone. This is long overdue, and i am so pleased that Liza is still with us, and that her sheer talents are being recognised again; she is the most talented performer i have ever seen on my whole life. I'm looking forward to Lady Gaga playing Liza in the upcoming movie based on Liza's almost completed autobiography.
Liza was always one of my personal favorites. When I was thirteen, I wanted to be Sally Bowles because of her realistic portrayal. She is a true star and will always be.
Brava! This is long overdue. Liza was ahead of her time. She made entertainment shows (last hailed perfectly by her Mother Judy Garland) chic. She was the only gay icon to record a song to acknowledge the AIDs crisis and to help our PWA`s. "And the Day after That". Take that Bette and Barbara. Your struggles were our struggles. And we watched Liza overcome and people were empowered to overcome. Thank you for your talent, your honesty, and your natural self. May you continue to go from strength to strength.
A real star. When my daughter was a toddler and Blockbuster was a thing...before dvds and streaming haha. We would rent movies for her to watch every now and again. I would let her walk around with me and she ran off and came back holding a box of the video she wanted, Cabaret! She was maybe 2.5 years. Even babies can see the shine of this remarkable human.
I’m not one for musicals but liza is an undeniable talent and i’ve always loved her more as a personality and a celebrity- she really was a fixture on the celebrity circuit in the 70s and 80s and she seems to be a real sweetheart and such a fun friend to have ❤️❤️
I loved The Rink; i sadly didn't get to see it live, but have the soundtrack and handheld footage; both Chita and Liza were phenomenal. I envy you on this one.
I just designed some invitations for a party she's having with Michael Feinstein in Pasadena. I was working with her assistant and I'm like if you are going to drive me crazy, can't it be directly from Liza?
You got it! I first saw her in concert in 1977 at Sunrise Music Theater in Ft. Lauderdale. Spring break. She ended by saying, "I have a little song from my new movie I'd like to sing." Well, "New York, New York" blew me away and I had to wait three months to get the LP! It was torture. I've since seen her many times, two in musicals, and she always delivers. We love you, Liza!!
As much as this incredible story about this incredible person needs to be told, it seems almost sad, like an ending, like there's nothing else to tell. Where's she going? And can I come along?
Y’ever notice how Liza and Ralph Macchio are never seen in the same place at the same time? 🤔 Uh-huh. You guessed it. She had so much talent that she had to create a secondary celebrity personality to be able to branch out. And let’s admit she’s just been phenomenal in Cobra Kai. ⭐️
I doubt it will contain anything that hasn't already been said before. I like Minnelli, but she is a revisionist and a story telling. I think she would've made a great teacher.
@@SomeGuy-mg5jy It's a safeguard thing she does I suppose. She's admitted to re-writing her past to fit a more humorous scenario. TH-cam INTERVIEW WITH NANCY BARR on Judy Garland. Thanks to wicked movie this is out. If it was not for the connection this would not be a thing. Judy Garland was America’s sweat heart. Liza had her thing in the 70s.
I an so glad Liza Minnelli is still with us.
She'd been declared irretrievably over the hill dozens of times, and boy, did she surprise us again and again!
That's a thing that she got of Judy.
Right there with you.
Liza deserves a Kennedy Center honor, I mean, come on! Singer, actor, dancer, storyteller…and wonderful in every category 🎉🎉🎉
Singer😂her voice is awful! Drink aunt at Christmas party springs to mind 🫣
This is almost criminal. She most certainly deserves one, and it's hard to believe she has never been honored.
Right?
I have voted for her and I imagine lots of others have as well. Not sure people are aware that they can vote.

I invited Liza to my Bar Mitzva in 1973. She sent a lovely signed postcard. I have loved her forever and can't wait to see this!
Please tell me you still have it!!!
so, she sent a postcard as a way saying she not gonna go to your bar?

"She wanted to consume the fullness of life" SUCH a fitting sentiment for someone like Liza.
I have always loved Liza. She is unapologetically herself and has a so much talent and a great sense of humor!

Liza is #1 a Legend! Extremely Talented and Kind human being. It breaks my heart seeing her suffering but so glad she is still with us. ❤🙏
Wow finally a movie that I actually want to go to the cinema to watch .. haven’t done that for well over 10 years
Truly, absolutely an icon and legend 🙌

Arthur is one of my favorite movies because of her...and Dudley of course.
I love that movie too ❤
When is this going to be released? Will it be streaming? Thanks 👍

She was HILARIOUS on Arrested Development.
Right you are!

I loved The Rink; i sadly didn't get to see it live, but have the soundtrack and handheld footage; both Chita and Liza were phenomenal. I envy you on this one.
I did too!
@ CHITA playing the "older woman" was wisely given the TONY for lead actress in a musical
@ Chit actually played the Mother; i loved Chita, such an immense talent. I was lucky enough to meet her daughter Lisa; she was absolutely lovely.
I just designed some invitations for a party she's having with Michael Feinstein in Pasadena. I was working with her assistant and I'm like if you are going to drive me crazy, can't it be directly from Liza?

Cannot wait to see this--is it theatres to streaming? Already streaming? Anyone know?
Where is this playing or streaming?? I want to see it!
love this! She is just divine!

As big a fan as I am, the night she won the Oscar for best actress, I feel Diana Ross should have won for Lady Sings The Blues. Liza simply portrait herself in Cabaret.
LOL. Liza's win for Cabaret would be up there among the most undisputed, most deserved wins ever.
I couldn't make it through Lady Sings the Blues. Diana Ross playing Billie Holiday is laughable. But I like Diana.
It was one of the toughest calls for Best Actress. Like Mary Tyler Moore against Sissy Spacek. But I think in both instances, the right one won.
If you think the character of Sally Bowles is Liza then she did her job damn well.
When I see her in younger days I get Anne Hathaway vibes
Or when you see Anne Hathaway you get young Liza vibes?😏
5 years after Judy
🤔Huh?
It looks like overly glossy trash.
