How’s the geometry on these bikes?
I wanna build myself a nice 80s/90s mtb for cruising around, but since I’m having problems with my neck I can’t ride them in a stretched out riding position..
That’s the reason why I really lover modern enduro bikes, you sit very upright on them, almost like on a touring bicycle.
Are there old mtbs out there with such a upright seating position or are all of them stretched out that you have to ride them with a forward leaned back and up bent neck?
I know that’s a pretty weird and specific request, but maybe you could put me in the right direction..

Just a great bike..... you always do everything to perfection.....I swear I smile every time I see you put the coins in the grips before you put them on the handlebars.... that takes me straight back to my childhood....... my friends and I had our regular bikes and then we had one "community" bike that way all kinda shared and used when we didn't wanna trash our regular bikes with some of the crazy stuff we used to do...... there will never be a more simple and fun time in life than when you're a young teen and you are out riding bikes with your friends all day

This has literally inspired me to pull out my mid-90’s Rocky Mountain Hammer Race out of my parents’ shed. Now that I don’t live at home so I just don’t have the tools to do an overhaul on it. Guess I have to take it to a local bike shop. But what nostalgia these videos bring!

Beauty! I had a Cinder Cone (splatter paint and solid fork) until 2022. I brazed on rack mounts for panniers and rode it to bike tour North America, Europe and Japan over the decades. Last summer I rebuilt it and donated it to a bike charity (along with a Diamondback Viper BMX from my teenage years). I hope it’s next riders enjoy it as much as I did!

I wish other people felt this way about older bikes like this...I always have and enjoy rebuilding them and showing them on my channel. So many people think if you don’t have the latest bike then it’s garbage. I’ve never had a bike newer than 2004 which was a Kona Stinky I built. Keep it up...ps. it’s easier to put the wheel on if you leave one of the brake arms off until after it mounted ;)

THAT is a beautiful build. Kona & Trek had the nicest frames of that time period to put new school bits on. I came across a Kona Explosif that someone threw out. I gave it to my riding buddy and he rebuilt it nice. I have a 90's Trek 820 that I want to build up now, but I want to leave the original paint job, give it a good cleaning & clear coat it like they're doing now with vintage pick-up trucks & hot rods. NICE work OS.

Stunning build, love everything about it, one of your best. Loved Konas (and loads of other brands) back then, a great era for MTBs. I have a '96 Bontrager Privateer that I've had since new with a Pace RC35 fork. I will never get rid of it ever, it's been used, abused, crashed, bashed and dropped but still has most of its original parts. Doesn't get used much nowadays as my old body struggles with the geometry, narrow bars etc but by god, I love that bike.
