- In this video I’ll be rebuilding this classic 1995 Kona Cinder Cone retro mountain bike. Paintwork in good condition but needed restoring . Very few problems at all really but in need of sorting out. Saddle ripped, stem barely in the fork, bottom bracket was not in tight, some kind of paint or tyre black on the tyres which was a task to get off, ripped grips at the ends and chain worn out. I swapped the gripshift for 95 XT pods and I will change the XT rear mech for a longer cage. It has an M737 SGS and although it works ok, top and top is asking a bit much of it.

Keeping it as OG as possible, I love it!
It's always pleasing to see a bike where the front brake is one the right lever. A lovely restoration yet again
One of the best colors on a Kona! First video I've seen from you and just subscribed. Enjoyed the bike build. 😀 Greetings from Canada!
Lovely bike
Spot on mate. You've not lost your touch when it comes to bike rebuilds. Always good at what you do. Helped me out on many occasions. The best bike rebuilder I've known. Love the videos mate. Keep them coming. Take care. 👍
Thanks for the comments Andy 😊 If people keep liking them I’ll keep making them.
Very nice, what a lovely machine. There's certainly something so satisfying and a real sense of achievement when stripping, cleaning, fixing and tinkering with old bikes. I just wish it was more lucrative. :)
Yes very satisfying knowing full well that the bike will be good for another few decades. These were built to last unlike today’s bikes which are built to replace. Thanks for your comments 👍🏻
I had the paint splatter version the design was quite radical at the time
I like the splatter effect on some of the older frames. They hide the paint chips well and very easy to touch up. 🙂
that came out BEAUTIFUL! ! ! Well done!
Thanks man. I half knew it had potential to come up well but the frame really shines. I’m off for a spin on it tonight!
Nice result again
Thanks mate. Off for a spin on it tonight I reckon.
Those grip shifts were horrendous. Had the x-ray ones on my 95 Marin IFT.
I wish I still had my '94 Kilauea. The frame separated at the left rear chainstay...and instead of sending it out for repair, I just sold it. 😐
Thanks for your support. I’ll keep going as long as the channel keeps growing 😅
