The best way of freezing beans is not to blanche them but just cut the ends of and directly in the freezer. They are way more crunchy and delicious that way. I know, we have been told and are growing up with blanching every thing before freezing but newer discovery’s and experiences have discovered that some er actually better not to 👍😀 You should try it Jessie 😘👍

    1. Picking beans 2. Having a coffee 3. Oops, didn't mean to do that.
We get comedy from you too. Really made me laugh.

As you can probably tell already, by the time you get to read this comment, the overwhelming consensus seems to be great idea for the time stamps but we'd probably all end up watching the whole vlog anyway - such is the captivating power your delivery has 😎
Where the timestamps would really come into their own, is when one is backtracking over a previously watched video to recap on something you've previously mentioned.
So I say, keep the timestamps so long as it doesn't impinge too much on your valuable, and much appreciated, time in creating these wonderful videos x

Great video Jessie. I missed you on Thursday! Perhaps you could do a quick 15 minute cooking video on Thursdays, like mustard greens, pak choy, or other things that I don't grow cuz I don't know how to cook them. Like the broad beans video a while back. Loved the kale with the fennel seeds and pepper and garlic. I need my Thursday fix! ;)

I typically sit back and enjoy the whole ramble through your garden as it comes at me, but there are sometimes things I like to back and rewatch, so a time stamp could be useful for that. A fair bit of extra work for you though. Enjoyed Chelse and the beloti beans. Think I might grow some next year. Thanks for another lovely video.

Morning Jessie! Finally managed to catch up with this week's vlog.
Inspired by your broad bean recipe, I wanted to have a patch of them for the first time and also a patch of field beans for green manure over winter.
Turns out, it's not so easy to find a place where you can buy any for autumn sowing. All I have found really are for farmers and come in 25/50 kilo bags. Bit too much for me.
And using a petrol strimmer during the shortage? Very provocative!
Hope you're having a great weekend! Hannes 💚

Interesting Jess & off topic so bear with me, but good to see masks on trains, & your carriage very empty, but non at Chelsea gardens when loads of people in very close proximity with the Delta variant that surprised me.
Your lunch soup looks great, healthy and filling. A nice soft baguette would have made it perfect for me. Had me laughing with your camping cutlery. Belated happy birthday to mum.
    ???
Jess a question would green manure work when only using big pots/grow bags to help replenish the soil for spring? if so which type not rye.
Jess my first two arches are up, what a palaver, each time I lifted one side the other came apart screw and inner nut came out! But got there exhausted and my first time growing barlotti and another type white beans are transplanted. Four more arches to do!!!!! One day but I’ll do nearer to where they’ll be positioned not indoors. I hope mine look a little like yours so pretty. I must say I blanched my French beans whole, reheating yes they went a bit limp. My sister used to freeze hers on a tray no blanching.

I'm hoping to have a similar harvest this coming year. I've just spent the last couple of days pricking out my tomatoes and they are looking really good. This week I had a spurt of inspiration/ bright ideas, I dug a small wildlife pond and I am redoing a border into a white border as it’s become a shady corner so I can increase my fern collection which I’m excited to receive. My new meadow coming through and I have a lawn slowly growing and my one of favourite parts of the year, bulb season. I have around 300bulbs to plant (3 boxes).

Lovely to see bits of the Chelsea show - something I’ve heard about but obviously not had a chance to experience! I concur with Ali tho a few more people than I’m accustomed to being around as I’m in BC too and fully into the 4th wave. 🙁
The chickens! the egg song is always such a delight 😂
I planted my cover crops September 12 and truly hoping they grow in time! We started getting fall temperatures the very next day, although I can see they are pushing the fleece up. I’m trying a mix of field peas, oats and buckwheat in some alternating rows although I did broadcast the oats a bit as I had lots. I have 4 dedicated raised beds but trying to develop an “in ground” approach in one spot. Which was a failure this year due to low nutrient compost but I will persevere. Cover crops and I should have more homemade compost for next spring.
I think the chapters will be helpful for me for referring back to a specific part. I do like your variety of content so watch the full episode.
    🥂

Thanks for another great vlog Jessie. It was so funny when your chicken was laying whilst your trying to talk. I am trying to grow purple Brussels sprouts, but the leaves are very lacey looking from the butterflies and my ducks bite them as they walk past. Will this effect the sprout growth? I had never thought about actually feeding them!! Blessings. X

Great Vlog Jess, but I don't need any of your seaweed stuff as I put seaweed from the beach on to my garden but I am sowing a field bean (pigeon pea) cover crop as well, I find the seaweed gives the garden an extra boost of all the minerals and the peas just hold the nitrogen in.
