You are spot on about the left thumb. For years I tried the short thumb because Hogan did. But his backswing was too long therefor he shortened the thumb not have such a long backswing. I am a senior now(76) so I need all the backswing I can get.
This makes a lot of sense, Todd. It seems the grip first approach stems from a belief that the hands lead the swing. They are "in charge", if you will. If I understand what Moe and now you teach, it is that the movement of the body leads and the hands are only there to hold and position the club correctly and that you need to employ hand positions that enable the correct body movement.
Thanks Todd. Another great video. One question I have is do you place your lead hand on the club before you get in position. If you do, do you have to tilt the body first before you place your lead hand on the club.
You must learn to position the lead hand on the club with the arm straight and the body tilted - first. Build this orientation before you place the trail hand.
Todd I have no clue what I’m doing wrong but I just can’t stop shanking the ball..just last week I was hitting it great and now I can’t stop shanking it! Please help!
thanks Todd. I do believe this has been my problem recently. That first position at the top you showed is exactly where im at. My son and i have passed it off to as poor flexibility. From the video its hard to tell where your thumb needs to be. Do you guys have a training aid that properly positions the lead hand.

@@ToddGravesGolf done thanks
I guess that's why my lead arm is bent at the top of the swing. I'll work on the thumb position.
Yes.
👍👍👍
Show closer shots of hand / fingers on the club
Why?
