I work in Industrial Maintenance. And after a long day of work and sneaking in a range session my hands were sore. I changed to these grips and after a bit of an adjustment period I love them. No pain after practicing or playing. I understand they aren't for everyone but they help me play more golf and that's a win win.
I work in the same field. And being a former baseball player it felt like home when I put them on my clubs. After being on the end of a wrench or ratchet for a day your hands stay sore. And once I switched to these it feels much better and I feel more control and face awareness on the club.
Three fold im an industrial mechanic of 30 years and my hands tendons ligaments are killing me , oh yeah golf is my other hobby. Time to regrip I suppose thanks for the info and opinions gentlemen.
My wife put oversized winn grips on her clubs as she has issues with carpal tunnel already. They make a huge difference for her. We were travelling a few weeks back and rented clubs with normal grips and she complained about her wrists throughout the round, so it's definitely helpful for people with hand/wrist problems!
Hi I know it is long time since the post, intrested to know of your wife hand size and what size of oversized grip does she use. My wife is in the same situation but mens oversize grip is that to much?
@coolman5788 the winn grips are pretty spongy feeling so oversized works with her hands just fine. There's never really a worry of the club slipping out of your hand. The only real thing to worry about is just getting the club face back to square with the bigger grips. She doesn't really seem to have that issue though. May be worth trying it just to one club first (that's what we did with her 8 iron) before investing in the entire set.
I’ve played with them for years now. I don’t think I’ll ever go back. The one thing I wasn’t aware of was how heavy some the grips were. It changed my swing weight by a lot. And I played like that for several years. Last year I switched to the light version (which is same weight as standard grips) and it made a world of difference.
I changed to jumbo max because of the arthritis in my hands, and they are remarkable. Total control, and the guys with little hands will have a problem. One bucket of balls at the range and it was heaven. All thanks to you Peter, keep up the great vlogs.👍
I've done club assembly for a hobby and I experimented with oversized grips just to see whether they would be more comfortable. They were comfortable but I had problems releasing the club and tended to block the shot to right. I had to make swing adjustments and really struggled to shape shots with the oversized grips. Most of my friends that tried them had similar issues. They do help people with arthritis in their hands and other pain. Good to know they are helping with your hand pain. Thanks for sharing!
I think a midsized grip might be a good compromise. I would recommend trying it on one club to see about the feel and whether you can consistently release the club. If you're happy with the performance of the changed club, then regrip the rest of your set. @@michaelbrooks5998
I swapped to the larger grips about a year ago and I haven't looked back. My miss tended to be a bit of a hook and after getting use to the size difference in the grips, my ball striking has been so much better! I didnt go as large as you, I ended up with the Tour Series Standard Oversize grips as the larger ones were just a bit "too much" for me. Loving the content Pete, keep it up!
I hit some balls the other day with some demo clubs that had the way oversized grips and I would need to get used to them but I had a couple shots with them that totally took me by surprise becuase I just connected and hit a bomb. Something about it really helps my striking and my normal Alice I’ve learned how to play with was gone. I’m almost due for a regrip on my irons and I think I’m just going to switch everything over to them.
I used to hate watching you Pete, and I hold my hands up when I say I was wrong!!! I now look forward to your video releases because you are actually a brilliant creator
I started up golfing back in 2022, at 43yrs of age. I also did play from age 14-22 off and on. Last year I caught the golfing bug in a big way and got fitted for irons and driver. I was then asked about grip, to which I had no reply. So the tech/fitter checked me out and instantly told me to go MIDSIZE, and so I had all my clubs regripped before ever using them. (PING G430). I cannot believe the difference it has made. Instantly giving me club head control and even allowing me some more swing speed. I have even considered a OVERSIZED grip for my driver. I went with a WINN Dri-Tac oversized for my driver, and I cannot describe in words the effect. It can only be felt and seen in the ball striking improvements im making. Grips are a super huge important part of the whole enchilada, it cannot be overlooked, or disregarded. Get what you fit into and what your fingers and palms like.
They are a life saver for me. I work in construction and it makes a huge difference in wrist, elbow and shoulder pain. I use the S8tech XS. I started with my wedges and driver. There is a short learning curve but once you get used to them, you will never go back.
Just put mid-size on mine. Looking forward to trying them out at the range as they feel really comfortable when holding and taking a few practice swings.
Mid size is still WAY too small. Each size up is only 4 wraps. Next is Jumbo, and then the Jumbo Max series. Jumbo Max - Extra Small, Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large. They also come in three styles.. Tour, Straight, and Ultra Lights. If you don't like the idea of using Bryson's Jumbo Max - Ultra Light - Extra Large size grips... or.. have smaller hands.... then get a Jumbo Max Small, or Extra Small, it's a lot better than the toothpick size standard grips. I'm 6'4" and Love the same ones Bryson uses. Try Jumbo Max Smalls to start.
Used to play cricket and using bigger grips would be way better for control and feel (Even double/ triple grips). I've only just started and watched Bryson as you did use them and genuinely feel like bigger grips are a much better way to play. Tempted to change my Golf Bidder clubs to them. Another idea, that we changed using hockey grips on our bats and they're great. Might try that first.
I’ve used these for 2 years now and would never go back. I struggled with terrible hand pain after a round and these grips have been transformative. My handicap went from 13 down to 8 as well so something’s working technically too. I don’t really analyse it too much though. I just put it down to feeling confident because I can hit without pain. Thanks for introducing me to the idea of these in the first place Pete.
When I retired 5 years ago I went to Jumbo grips as I was struggling gripping the club due to arthritis & I’ve stuck with them thru club changes. Made a big difference to my enjoyment of the game
I grew up playing tennis competitively so when I took up golf at age 27, the small grips just felt so wrong. I ended up just building up tape and using mid-size grips but the weight gets too high… I want to try the jumbo max grips and I will eventually. Thanks for this feedback though Rick!!
I'm a former tennis trainer and coach and when I picked up golf 4 years ago I felt the same thing. Didn't understand why grips were so thing. Missed the reasoning. Now gaming the JumboMax ultralite medium. So much better and will never go back. 👍🏻😎🤘🏻
Peter. It's nothing to be ashamed of mate. I also am used to gripping a larger girth grip. Being in the 1% is naturally lonely but ultimately rewarding.
Pete I have also struggled with wrist/hand pain, to the point of having to quit all together for 9 months now. Im a 6 hdcp and I really miss it. Im sure a lot of us would really love to hear a deeper explanation of what injuries you had and what part of the swing caused it. Grip pressure? Angle of attack? Anyway, love the vid and def considering these now.
I finished playing college baseball this last year. When our season was canceled when Covid initially happened I got into golf, but couldn’t stand the tiny grips on the clubs. When I got my own clubs I asked the fitter if there was any bigger options similar to a baseball size grip. It makes a difference. Larger grips mean more surface contact with your hands meaning more control. I want my whole hand dexterity when playing sports.
As a very senior (archaic) golfer I can understand and feel the pain that you have. I have arthritis in my fingers and if I hit the ground hard with an iron then that causes the arthritis to flair-up and spoil the rest of the round. That was up to about two and a half years ago when a friend introduced me to a glove called the "BIONIC" it was advertised on Amazon for £20 so I thought at that price why not give it a go. Since I have been using this glove I have never had a problem with my arthritis on a round a golf since no matter how hard I hit the ground or the size of the divot. They are very durable and as a person who goes to the course three times a week and I now its time to get a new glove .
I love the grip discussion as I've always wrapped my golf grips in tennis racquet grip, I don't use a glove and never have and find them tacky and even better in the wet.
I switched to Jumbo max (XS superlite) over a year ago. It took some time to adjust, But now I am very happy I took the time to change. No hand pain and they are very comfortable to play.
I have used "oversized" grips, and I really liked them. They seemed too big for the bag I use. The clubs in the bag were tight. I have the GP MCC +4 midsize grips on my clubs now. These do relieve my wrist and hand pain - for now. I will probably be back with the oversized grip soon. Great video!
I just swapped my iron grips out recently from standard to +4 golf pride grips as I had one of my Volkey wedge and really liked it... I noticed a def improvement in confidence and consistent ball striking. They allow me not to have a death grip on the club as I do have quite large hands and felt that I was "hanging" on to the slimmer profile grip. Now my right hand can be more of a guide than holding on. I feel that the larger grip added a bit more swing weight to the irons allowing to hit more down on the ball and it also smoothed out my tempo and rhythm and actually swing a bit easier and smoother while still maintaining swing speed. Not tested with any sort of swing software but I've been playing golf for quite a long time and I really enjoy the change. I also have a larger +4 grip on my driver that I've had for years and I've loved how that has helped me swing more neutral.
Brilliant! Thanks Pete. I have big hands with long fingers and also a bent lead wrist, from a badly healed break. I use a midsize grip - it was a big help when I changed to them, and I wanted to try bigger, but I didn’t have the nerve. You have convinced me to try them. You’re right, we golfers use what we use through history and tradition, and we are all scared to be different and have the piss taken out of us (you can tell I play mostly with men!) but I’m definitely gonna risk it!
Interesting about the gripping in the palm versus the fingers. I started working on my grip 2 seasons ago and fully went away from gripping it in the palm. I don't feel like it changed a lot in my swing except that I was now more aware of how I was gripping it and it makes my setup a little more consistent. Now I have to try switching back and forth at the range and see about this "holding it off more" business. As for the grip size, I'm perfectly happy and comfortable with my standard-sized grips and don't suffer from any hand or wrist pain. I did for one season but it was something to do with something that completely changed in my swing overnight that had me hitting down hard on the ball and shanking, and I practiced on mats. Thankfully, that sorted itself out in a couple range sessions.
I started golfing in 2020 and played a ton of golf the first couple years. Permanent wrist pains, that I felt came from the way I had to curl my fingers up way too much. I then started putting bigger and bigger grips on my clubs, and I am now very happy AND pain free with GolfPride Midsize +4 grips AND 4 layers of tape under.
I couldn`t agree more with Peter. I wouldn´t call myself a good golfer, my handicap used to be very low though. By chance, I had the privilege to be the starter on a tour event in 2015 and there was a fog break just the moment Bryson was supposed to tee up. He was still an amateur at that time and definitely one of the most lovely golfers on tour I have met. He gave me a 15 minute talk, would rather say a lecture, into his grips and he convinced me. He gave me an email address (grips were just about to be launched) to be able to order those grips which I did. Like most people who tried the grips I know, I rather pushed the ball to the right for a few rounds. Eventually, I was able to quieten my hands and adapt my core rotation so significantly, that my ball flight got more consistent and interestingly, even longer than before. I am using them now for eight years, would never use any other grips anymore. At least rather tall people with rather big hands should always give it a try in my opinion.
Comparing to badminton, I always added a second grip, even having relatively small hands. It loosened my grip, and allowed more flexibility and face control. Now have jumbo grips on my clubs and my hands are far more relaxed.
Changed to these and Ive actually found much increased feel particularly around the green , golf grips are small because the shaft is thin and they stuck a bit of leather on the end, all the innovation over the years and no one has looked at this. I have a very short quick lower body swing and Ive found these have helped me feel the club at transition and stop the early snatch at the down swing
I play cross handed (right hand top) and these jumbo grips have transformed my game (Medium JumboMax Ultralites). I feel so much more in control of the club, striking the ball more consistently and the club head is rotating less meaning straighter shots, and my chipping and wedge play has improved massively, and im gaining distance the driver too. I wouldn't know what to do without these grips now
I've battled with tennis elbow for the last 3 years and ended up having surgery. I have considered giving these a go to see if they would make a difference.
I have been playing JumboMax UltraLite's size small since the start of the year. I ran in to an issue that when I would swing with my Standard+ that my wrist would flip through to much and the hooks came out. Yes, these grips will make be hit a block here and there, but it stopped my wrist from flipping through. Recently, my cousin was at my house who is a tennis teaching professional. I showed him my club because he is getting back in to golf after tearing his act and mcl. He loved the grip because it was the closest thing to a tennis racket handle. He has now installed them on his clubs and loves them.
I'm using midsized grips. Have for years. I found with regular grips I tended to squeeze them too tight and it inhibited my release, resulting in a slice. Once I switched to midsize, I could relax my grip a bit and it helped me release the club better. Been hitting a draw ever since. However, I seem to still struggle with inconsistency with my driver so I recently order a single jumbomax ultra lite for my driver. Should have it in a couple of days. We'll see how it works on the driver.
I have standard grips on all my irons and just got a midsized on my driver. Driver is going right instead of my usual left miss. Not sure if I like it or not.
@wooltron1 I was having similar wrist issues when I switched to midsize and it helped. I changed jobs and alleviated the source of those issues,so when I went out and grabbed a new wedge I left the standard grip on it to see if I want to switch back.
Had mine over a year now. Love them. A club with "normal" grips feels like what it is in reality - poorly designed and not conducive to good control of the clubface. The large size finally enabled me to grip the club lightly, the skinny grips always felt like they were going to fly out of my hands during the follow-through.
My MAIN concern is how the hell do you not lose your mind trying to pull those bad boys out of your golf bag! Those things seem like a snag nightmare! I finally switched to midsize because they just fit my hands better than standard and I already notice my bag being tighter. I am very interested in eventually moving up to oversized though!
@@cameronpope8523 my hands are decently big so the midsize really feels better! Going back to standard grips feels whacky now! I will probably move to oversized in a few years though!
Jumbo grip on my 8 iron snagged on the bag yesterday when I pulled it after striping a drive . I tried to catch it as it came down and the thin top line of the Miura MC-201 smashed my right index finger and drew blood. After letting my buds play their shots and getting bandaged up and wiping the blood off my jumbo grip, I parred the hole. Ended up shooting 9 over which is an excellent round for me. Switched to jumbo grips two years ago and that's the first time it's happened. Just be mindful and don't try to catch it if it snags.
Used to play with standard grips until I tried oversize grips the other week...game changer. Got a set straight on my clubs. 2 way miss is now just straight or a fade which I like...I see a fade on every shot a draw feels out of control to me... Never shot under 80 before. Since changing I've done 76,78,76 in my last 3 rounds... No twisting of the grip through impact. Its like magic. I've not got big hands, I wear a medium glove but i feel like im holding somthing instead of sqeezing a thin stick... They just work for me...
I come to golf late in life and could never understand why grips were so thin. So when I saw these a couple of years ago I fitted them on all my clubs. At first I was pushing them right but it didn’t take long to sort that. From the word go I never had any problems with my short game if anything touches around the green improved. The biggest plus for me is reduced grip pressure, what a revelation and relief, I no longer have sore hands after a round of golf makes holding my beer more enjoyable 😂 ⛳️ 🍺
I just received the same exact grips this week and will be regripping my clubs this week. Looking forward to trying them out... I wear an XXL glove, small grips seem to have been causing me finger and forearm pain on both sides (specifically my middle and ring fingers).
I use the XS version of the jumbo max and I love them. My miss is a hard duck hook, so these have slowed my hands turning over. I let people hold them and they usually like them and get it. I do have big hands and these help
Nice meeting you the other day in SC, I’ve run midsize grips and it’s helped my game a lot. I hit around 200 balls a day, play 36 holes at Solina and hit balls on a sim with no pain except to my ego… cheers🎉
I cannot afford to buy new grips at USD 20+ each, plus pro's regripping charge...so...I went to a sports store and bought TENNIS re-grip tape, USD 5 for a package of 3. This came from my 40 yrs. of playing squash and having to regrip racquets every six months or so. Overwrapped my golf grips, tied the bottom end with the enclosed black tape, plus some black electrical tape on for good measure and voilá...thick, very soft and mushy grips! Having arthritis and back pain as well, I have to say that my previous hand pain has gone the way of the dodo bird...just sharin' ...thanks for this video
I’ve played those exact grips for a few years now. I absolutely love them. The hardest part of playing them, is testing new clubs. The traditional grips feel like a toothpick.
Peter, having some arthritis in two of my fingers on the left hand so I have just put on two jumbo maxes in the size large which was recommended using their sizing guide online, regrettably there’s no golf store near me that that carries all these sizes, so that I could feel them in my hand first, I think that would be helpful. But anyway they do feel quite a bit bigger but I didn’t have any problem hitting the ball straight with either of them on my six iron or my driver but of course I still had to use my other clubs so I ended up with finger pain at the end and I’m not sure if it would be any better with larger grips or not? Thanks for the info and if you have any other other input on arthritis in the fingers as it relates to golf grips I would appreciate it. Thanks
I have jumbo cp2s on driver and woods. Recently put them on a wedge and immediately all wedges. Irons are next, but I need new irons. When I first started golfing the clubs would spin in my hands with standard size. I went to mid size and saw a huge improvement with control. Now the mid size fell tiny on my irons
I’ve been using Winn jumbos with a few extra wraps for a few years and I love them. They fill up the hand more for stability. I’ll have to try these sometime. Glad they have helped you get rid of pain.
Gonna give these a go! Been struggling with wrist pain ever since I got back into golf back in 2020. Never had any wrist pain before but now, no matter what I do, I get it. Impossible for me to golf back to back days. Even with Aleve, or icing it 3 times a day. It sucks! I’m hopeful that these will allow me to play pain free. Honestly crazy this video has been up only two days as I was talking with one of the Cobra reps who does lessons by the course near my house (Bryson DeChambeau’s home course btw), and he said he had jumbo max grips because of tendinitis. I think this is the move!!
I have very small hands. A few years back, I bought a secondhand driver with a midsize grip. I found it near impossible to close the face on my driver with it. I swore I would never use large grips because of that. I was looking for new irons, and the fitter turned me onto a used sad. The catch, they had midsize grips. I hit them pretty well though except the long irons. After a couple of months, I put standard grips on the long irons but kept mids for 6-PW and put them on my other wedges too. For me, that is a good balance, it has helped with my arthritis too.
I played these grips for 3 years or so and played very good with them. I switched irons and thought I would just stick with a regular oversized grip. I found myself spraying alot of shots and just didnt have alot of consistency hitting the clubs straight. I play to an under 5 handicap and WAS scratch. After trying several things changing my swing and holding club face closed on the backswing, on a whim, I put one of the old medium sized ultralite grips on my 9 iron. 1st round with the 9 iron got a hole in 1 on the fly, nothing but the bottom of the cup. Walked off the golf course and ordered a full set of ultralites to go on my PXG's!! Buy one grip and try it!!!
I needed surgery for my Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Prior to surgery I used Golf Pride Victory grips which were pretty much standard on many sets back in the day. My wrists would be sore after a round. That pain later moved down to my hands and affected my game. I then went up in grip size and used a half cord grip. Things drastically improved. I still needed and got the surgery, but my pain was much lessened when I used the larger grips. I'm getting back into golf after a long hiatus and I am seriously looking at larger grips. Larger grips 'quieted' my hands during the swing and at impact so much so that my I cut 5 strokes off my handicap (old handicap system) within a month of changing grips.
I changed early this summer with my new club fitting! I'm 66 years old and my hands have been hurting from being a mechanic for years! The jumbo grips were so much more comfortable and my fingers don't hurt at the end of the round!
Just taken up golf again but have struggled with holding clubs due to a condition called dupuytren's contracture i cant fully grip with left hand im definitely looking these up cheers.
Suffered really chronic pain in my left wrist particularly at the base of the thumb. I have used oversized grips for about 4 years now and the pain when playing is minimal and the grip also feels really comfortable
I've only returned to golf after a 33 year hietus, I've now been playing for 6 months, but it took me 3 of those months to work out that standard grips were absolutely killing me! I bought a set of used clubs that just happened to have oversize jumbo grips on them, and it transformed my game. Coupled with Jack Nicklaus's grip method mentioned in Golf My Way, I couldn't go back! I'm now intrigued by these even larger ones...
I've been using the GripOne non-taper grips for a little over a year. I think they might be a bit too large for me. I hated how much taper the lower part of standard grips had which is why I switched. I tried midsize grips when I was in HS (8 years ago) and didn't quite enjoy them but I came across a few grips on display while waiting for my tee time and found that my opinion of some midsize and even oversized grips had changed. I suppose that's natural as they had enough taper to make my right hand feel more in control whereas with the GripOne I felt like I couldn't properly wrap my fingers around them. 6:45 describes it well. While I setup and feel okay, it's really at the top where I feel disconnected. Edit (10/12/23): I went to the range yesterday and decided to grip more in the palm of my right hand while keeping the left one the same and I noticed a HUGE difference. I never really could "Feel" the club nor felt like I had much control but now all of a sudden I could really feel it once I changed the grip a bit more. This could be due to an incorrect grip to begin with for my hand size. Looked up a golf article and a coach said "When gripping any club, use your entire hand! If the handle is too much in your palms, you’ll negate wrist hinge. Too much in your fingers, and, suddenly, you add unwanted tension." - Brady Riggs.
I was never taught a grip style. I started taking some lessons recently and asked why I destroyed my gloves. I have a palm grip. Believe me, the new gloves don't last long and become ruined within one large bucket of balls at the range. Yes, I am trying to get back into golf with a 15 year hiatus but changing my grip entirely or going out and perhaps eyeballing this grip style...maybe worth a go? Appreciate the video.
I have never tried these grips but I may do it in the future. I have mid-sized grips right now and I have noticed that they feel miles better for me in terms of control and comfort. I had broken my ring and pinky knuckles on my right hand so when I would interlock my left index finger and right pinky, my hand would hurt really bad after a 9-hole round of golf. Now I can play 18-holes with relative comfort.
I tested midsize (small hands) over several weeks. I had obvivous problems to close the clubface with them. I started to overfade with clubs I had straight ball flights before, for example with the 3 wood.
Awesome ,Jumbomax Ultralites have helped my game incredibly over the last 2-3 years, JMX Small on the driver and the ST8.XS..on all my irons..but on my wedges am using the Superstroke Cross comforts , oversize..which are not that big..just a bit more sensitivity.. (ML Glove size..) No more Pain..!
I use the Golf Pride Jumbo grips and it has been transformative to me being able to play pain free in my hands. They are amazing/ I have them throughout the back and love then all.
Changed my game too because I used to get sore hands at the range from hitting off mats plus they stopped me hitting a hard draw with my strong grip position. Everybody gets a laugh out of them when they see them but I love them. I play off 6 from 10 last year.
I had been using the midsize grips but haven’t been out in two years in which time I developed arthritis in my right hand ..not good for a left handed golfer some days I can’t close my fist. So I had a jumbo grips installed on my clubs and what a difference it makes. Not only did it not hurt my game it’s actually made it better. This might not be for everyone but if your experiencing pain in your hands while golfing you might want to give some jumbo grips a chance…✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼
I wrecked my wrist, these Grips absolutely resolved it fully for me, I even was able to play during recovery. Tried with a normal grip and was in huge pain 5 shots in. I do prefer Jumbo Medium, the bigger ones are just too much.
Might have to try this, the back of my left hand is in a lot of pain swinging a club, I’ve just chalked it up to the side effect of a lefty playing right handed.
I've recently realized that part of the problem with my irons is a feeling that I'm fighting the grips. My dad (72) started putting jumbo Golf Pride grips on his clubs a few years back and, while they certainly felt a bit odd when I tried them out, I didn't feel like I was fighting them as much as my current grips. My new driver has a midsize grip that feels great, and when I get fitted for a new set of irons next year, I might move up a size or two in grip diameter.
I've been using big grips for almost 20 years. I injured my left thumb (right handed golfer) in high school which precluded me from being able to grip the club normally and release through impact. An older gentleman suggested I try a baseball grip on my left hand and then overlap with my right. That worked but the grip was just too small. I'm 6'4" (193 cm) and have really wide hands. After a few months of tinkering, I came up with cutting an old tire inner tube in long strips and then wrapping the grip like they used to do with leather. I go right overtop of the old grip so it's quite thick but I don't think much more than what Peter has. I think it may be time to switch to Peter's model since it's getting harder to find tubes.
Could you do a video or a short of the technical difference. Something showing the spin and distance numbers? Do you feel like the grips changed your flight and or spin rate with driver or 3w? Wanting to change but skeptical of the true benefits.
For myself with larger hands and decent swing speed I find myself a lot of the times gripping the club way too hard because it feels like the club is going to fly out of my hands, resulting in not much flexion in my wrists. I would love to try these out. I am sure it would be like a swing change and just feel weird at first but after repetition would feel normal.
They make golfing so much more comfortable. I'm like you I have large doppelganger fingers. Standard grips my palms wrap over the top of my fingernails. I switched to oversized grips a few years ago and just this season put the jumbo max grips on. I didn't have any issues adjusting to the size. But I now don't feel like I'm gripping so hard to get the same grip on the club. If that makes any sense.
Thicker grips absorb more vibrations. Same with graphite shafts. If you play enough golf something will start aching whether shoulder, elbow, wrist or hand.... Reducing vibrations will go a long way.
My brother’s buddy left an Apex UT 24 at the house one day with a big grip and as soon as I felt it they just feel great. I feel like especially drivers and woods and I’ve always wanted to try putting them on the entire set.
I was diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis about 6-7 years ago which has largely impacted my hands - lumps and distortion on my finger joints. The only pain I experience when playing golf is in very cold or very hot conditions. It probably helps that my hands are not very big to begin with so a standard grip feels right to me. I'm about to turn 45 so I'm hopeful it will be a long time before my hands get to the stage where I can't play but when it does become painful to grip a club then I'll probably try one out to see what its like.
I have an old Set of John letters t5 irons with parallel grips not massive but really like them but now worn. out small hands but at the time felt that they helped on the way down from 24 to 11. Now heading back up. Might need to look at them again
I've been running Med Jumbo's for about 5 years now. I don't play much (8-12 times a year) but I feel real comfortable with these grips. I keep a 7 handicap pretty consistently and for some reason I don't need to wear a glove with the bigger grips unless it is a really sweaty or wet day
I have these grips on my irons P-4 and so far I love them. I have traditional golf pride grips on my driver and wedges but in jumbo. I won’t change the wedges but might go to the larger Str8 tech on my driver
I have been getting Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in my left hand (play right handed) lately and getting a shock of numbness in my hand during the backswing. Your video is well timed to get me to think this from the grip size perspective. I'm happy to hear it helped you and thank you for your video.
I'm almost 50 with 30 plus years in construction. Changing to jumbos Mcc plus 4 a few years ago was a game changer. My hands don't hurt after around. I don't feel like I'm squeezing the grip and now if I grab a regular size grip, it feels like a toothpick
The timing of this video is serendipities... I am just getting back on the course after breaking my wrist in April, having surgery to plate and screw the bones back together, and currently undergoing physio. I am wondering if a larger grip might help on the course while recovering... ??
I don’t play Jumbo Max but have used Winn jumbo grips for years. I can relax my grip through the swing and my hands aren’t sore after a round. Another plus is less shock to the hands if you hit a tree root. I may try Jumbo Max on a couple clubs to see if I like them. Thankfully, modern golf bags are more accommodating to jumbo grips than they used to be.
I had the xl jumbomax grips and switched out of them so I can try to feel the face more and fix a slice I have. Trying to get golf game in order before I mess again with my grips

What size of gloves do you wear?

Must be nice for the ladies to handle some thick shafts for a change ey chaps?
Absolute positive game changer! Love them! I’m only 5’8. More distance, more feel and no more wrist pain. As a former tennis player its a god send!
I can’t get my head around why you get more distance but it seems to be the case - what’s your thoughts on why ?
I’ve played with them for years now. I don’t think I’ll ever go back. The one thing I wasn’t aware of was how heavy some the grips were. It changed my swing weight by a lot. And I played like that for several years. Last year I switched to the light version (which is same weight as standard grips) and it made a world of difference.
I changed to jumbo max because of the arthritis in my hands, and they are remarkable. Total control, and the guys with little hands will have a problem. One bucket of balls at the range and it was heaven. All thanks to you Peter, keep up the great vlogs.👍
This is exactly me. Changed to jumbo myself
Having the same issue. It took away my little draw. What do you think of midsize?
I think a midsized grip might be a good compromise. I would recommend trying it on one club to see about the feel and whether you can consistently release the club. If you're happy with the performance of the changed club, then regrip the rest of your set. @@michaelbrooks5998
Grips are so interesting and are often overlooked! Love the long term review! Thanks Mate!
How many balls would you hit in a range session and how many balls would you hit in a week? I’m curious as I’m looking at going this way myself
I went from standard to midsize and have had massive improvements
Just put mid-size on mine. Looking forward to trying them out at the range as they feel really comfortable when holding and taking a few practice swings.
Mid size is still WAY too small.
Each size up is only 4 wraps.
Next is Jumbo, and then the
Jumbo Max series.
I've made the change when they came out, LOVE them. My handicap has gone down from 6 to +2
When I retired 5 years ago I went to Jumbo grips as I was struggling gripping the club due to arthritis & I’ve stuck with them thru club changes.
Lol
I'm a former tennis trainer and coach and when I picked up golf 4 years ago I felt the same thing. Didn't understand why grips were so thing. Missed the reasoning. Now gaming the JumboMax ultralite medium. So much better and will never go back. 👍🏻😎🤘🏻
Peter.
I love these grips, as I have arthritis in both hands and wrists, and I feel that they have helped massively.
What’s difference between the Ultra lite and the green ones Pete has?
I saw a big difference between standard and midsize. I way more control with the bigger grip. I’m going from midsize to oversize at the moment
What a timely video as I've been debating switching back to standard grips after rocking midsized the past few years
I have standard grips on all my irons and just got a midsized on my driver.
My god I hate having midsize grips because of that but standard is noticeably small
@@cameronpope8523 my hands are decently big so the midsize really feels better! Going back to standard grips feels whacky now! I will probably move to oversized in a few years though!
A bag with full length dividers is a must. I have these on most of my clubs and don't have issues.
I thought exactly that especially when using a carry bag
Noticed Pete's dropped the jumbomax grips on his new set? Hmmm, why the change back to thin grips i wonder?
I recently changed to Jumbomax grips and they’ve really helped immensely with hooks and misses to the left. Love them.
Thanks
I suffer from osteoarthritis so went to the jumbo grip. I have been trying to grip in fingers, but will now try in the palm and see how that goes.
I use the Jumbo Max gripes and no more pain in my fingers and my golf improved
Did the Large grip create any swing weight/balance issues?
Love my jumbo max grips so far, made my game so much more consistent.
Looked up a golf article and a coach said
"When gripping any club, use your entire hand!
I'm definitely thinking about going to a bigger grip! Thanks for the insight and honesty. Maybe I'll do an old set of irons and see if I like it
I have never tried these grips but I may do it in the future.
Shoutout to CP2 Golfpride Midsize Wrap. Incredible grip and borderline oversized compared to other midsize.
I have arthritis (I'm only 37 🙈) in my wrist and changing to midsize grips has helped me play pain free most of the time.
(ML Glove size..)
No more Pain..!
I use the Golf Pride Jumbo grips and it has been transformative to me being able to play pain free in my hands. They are amazing/ I have them throughout the back and love then all.
How much did you have to change the clubs swing weight?
Put one on my ball retriever, works wonders 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
3 week ago I went with the jumbo grips, I’m 74.6 years young I LOVE 💕 THEM.
Really interesting. I have given up on steel for graphite (Recoils) to eliminate wrist pain and vibrational aggravated flair ups. I use Midsize.
I have them on my driver and fairway wood and LOVE them! I have midsize on the rest of my clubs and find they work best.
Saw Peter yesterday at East Lake! What a great guy!!! He blasts the ball.
I've been using the STR8 Ultralite size medium. They are pretty awesome. It's good to see other people getting good results with a similar product.
