- The number “5” is especially significant for the MG brand, as it alludes to one of MG’s most well-loved and popular global models: the MG 5 Sedan. Since MG Philippines first launched the product, the MG 5 has gained a positive reputation among Filipino motorists for being a car that over delivers in terms of its features and specifications, vis a vis its attainable price tag.
A case can be made for the MG 5 being the best-equipped among its peers as it boasts of features found in more upscale models. Such features include a user-friendly 10-inch touch screen infotainment head unit that runs both Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™; 360-degree vehicle view, which gives drivers a bird’s-eye view of their car; a power driver’s seat for optimum comfort adjustment; cruise control; and a tire pressure monitoring system just to name a few. In terms of physical size, the MG 5 is the longest (4,601mm) and widest (1,788mm) option in its class, and also features the longest wheelbase (2,680mm) resulting in a spacious and comfortable cabin, and 512-liters of luggage space in the boot.

@@kyuji1298 Hello, kaka 3yrs lang ng MG5 namin last April. So far no issues naman at mas lalong gumaganda ang performance ng engine, it feels more powerful and smoother than before. Alaga lang tlga dapat sa maintenance then wala kang magging problema. Sa parts naman e nagkalat na ang mga shops na nagbebenta ng parts basta sumali kalang sa mga forums, group page/chats andun mga nagbebenta mblis na ngayon makahanap compare before.
Ganda din nito pero kaka release lang ng Changan Alsvin namin at super happy kami so far. Daming magaganda these days.
This is exactly how I feel after more than a year of reviewing these cars. The instances of me finding a car I really hate, are very few, if any!

Sir Roy, I am guilty of not being a fan of the 5 previously, but when I saw one up close (also in white), my 1st impression was 'Man, it looks really elegant!'
Plus that hp and torque compared to most other sedans :)
My only qualm is the very low ground clearance..
They lowered it before any Johnny Hillstart had a chance to do so! Just kidding :-D You're right though, I really don't care much for it in pictures but in the metal? The MG 5 certainly looks fancier and is actually bigger!

I have already mg5 cvt core since 2021,wala akong masabi at sobrang swabe until now.. Note this is my 3rd car... Since my first car is kia and second is toyota... Now mg5 cvt core speedy red color, very satisfied to using it

That's an interesting testimonial and I'm glad to hear that the MG5 works great! While driving it, I did note how solid it is especially running through rough patches on the road!

yes, it has. you can find it in the settings of the instrument cluster. controls are in the same spoke where the lights are controlled
Vios XE 1.3 vs MG5 CVT Core plus are on my shortlist. Looking at the two, the value for money goes to MG5. Quality and parts availability goes to Vios though.
Still thinking of what to get.
What I love about the Vios, especially the 1.3 variants is the performance relative to the small engine. Used in the city, it really can pull itself to 80 kph without too much drama. Not to say that the MG 5 isn't a performer, I certainly had a wonderful time behind the wheel.
Where the MG 5 really shines is all the space inside. It's just perfect for a guy my size and riding in the back I had very little complaints.

Fuel consumption consumption vs top dog Vios confirmed. Wondering why it should be less efficient than the Vios. Wider tires.
The MG 5's Kerb weight too is about 100kg more than the vios. You're right about the meatier tires and probably more sound insulation. Probably because of that huuuge screen too and cruise control :-)

Yes po, they are the same automatic (AT and CVT)
I wonder what's the reliability of that cvt? Cvt is the most complicated transmission out there and it's not serviceable pag nasira palit un buo

On this variant, no. MG cut a few corners to cater to people who care about the price up front rather than those who have to spend more just because of some niceties :-)

Why do I feel like this is a generation old VW Polo sedan? The exterior and interior are VW clones. The dash is straight VW with VW switch gear, dash vents, and gauge package. It’s like MG bought the tooling for it and brought it back.
because SAIC also makes VWs in China
I've always thought that small, sensible cars have always looked to VW as a benchmark for how to design their cars to offer the best possible space, asthetic and maybe even feel. This goes way back to the original Golf, it was released at a time when fwd weren't yet as prevalent as they are now.
