I love these types of videos. I volunteer at my local bike library here in the UK so appreciate the infrastructure shown here. We have nothing like this, Two small garages and a couple of shipping containers. Its in a deprived area so we sell the refurbished bikes for between £50 - £100 ($70-$125). We cant sell for any more. We only scrap around 10% of bikes we receive and will spend a day working on a bike that only sell for £50. I love very day im there, in fact i take bikes home with me to work on out of hours.
This is an amazing video. Almost all of my rides are 90's MTB except for a couple FSR Enduros but no bike shop selling new bikes has anything that I want at all .This shop has everything i ever wanted and ever will. Cheers from Nova Scotia , Canada !
Thanks for a great video! It's wonderful to see so many good bikes refreshed and returned to service. It's pretty hard to wear out a bicycle. A little care and attention can keep them going forever.😊
Love seeing behind the scenes of the new facility, such an upgrade from the old building. Someone buy my old cargo bike (the grey cycle truck to Kai’s right at 1:40)!
Thanks for the video, Rob Always good to support your local bike coop anyway you can. Thanks again for all you do on your channel. Your efforts are much appreciated.
Great video! I'm a member and regular at our local bike collective and I'm hoping to work up enough courage to volunteer there some day (I've learned some skills from watching OldShovel videos!). Amazing people doing amazing work. Thank you for promoting this great cause!
@@haqitman I started volunteering at my local bike library 3 monthes ago. No experience apart from tinkering on my own bike. I just binge watched loads of videos before and then went for it. You learn on the job.
We have a bike collective in my city, it's great, but since this city is not nearly as bike-centric as SLC, the pickings can be kind of slim. And it's only open for 4 hours on Wednesday nights, and 3 hours on Sunday afternoons during Spring through Fall, and just the 3 hours on Sundays during the Winter. So it's not nearly as nice as what you all have, but it's a start.
we need such shops in germany. there is only 1 in my town who is just selling Roadbikes fpr 3 hours on Saturday.... unfortunately no comfortbikes, no mountainbikes :/ in my town available in shops , which are refurbished.
Did you check the site in my description. There are several in California on their list. Check out bikecollectives.org/wiki/Community_Bicycle_Organizations
Wow me gusta el sistema como recolectan las bicicletas que las personas no usan es como una tienda de golosinas para encontrar un buen proyecto de trabajo de bicicleta
Theft deterrent. They recently had someone break a window and steel a bike. The window was the only real loss. The hope is it will discourage further attempts. The ironic thing is the likely thief would have likely qualified for one of the shop’s “good will” bikes and it was actually one of these good will bikes that was stolen. Nonsensical

Very interesting. Thank you for this great video about the Bicycle Collective.
Kai is one of the coolest dudes in SLC. Super super knowledgeable!

I wish we had something like this where I am at . And, if I were just guessing... I'd bet you're one of their volunteers???
Check out bikecollectives.org/wiki/Community_Bicycle_Organizations there may be something nearby

@ just started looking
I wish the Ogden Collective had as nice a facility.
Dido. The location is not ideal. It still has good bikes though.

Can I purchase these bikes online

Yep. It was an awesome one. Came in as a donation while we were filming. Good eye. 😁🙌
Inspired
Why do they lock the bikes through the front wheels? They're all QR wheels.
