- As 2023 comes to an end, I find myself thinking about all the new and amazing (and many not so amazing) watches that have come out this year. In this video I share my top 10 best and worst watches of 2023, including specific timepieces and brands that have knocked it out of the park with their offerings this year...and brands that have both horrified and disappointed watch enthusiasts with their latest wares. Join me for a fun end of year video where we'll take a look back at the good, the bad, and the absolutely ghastly of the watch world. What do you think about the watches featured in this video? once again you've hit the nail on the head! It's not about building the most expensive watch with the most gemstones and the most pointless complications. The true values, the useful functions, the beautiful design, the classic attributes, that's what characterizes a beautiful watch. Not the price tag and not pointless extremes. Attracting attention at any price should not be in the specifications of a new watch development...
But people buy those horrible watches! So what if you and I agree that they should not exist, the companies do want to attract attention to their brand. Those weird Louis Vitton watches, it doesn't matter if they sell or not, it gives LV the illusion of making premium products. Sure, it's all smoke and mirrors but that's how capitalism works.
Apologies, but what's the issue with creating a costly timepiece adorned with precious gemstones and intricate features? Aren't most watches, if not all, essentially devoid of practical purpose? Why is a reasonably priced watch, featuring a straightforward and conventional design, deemed more tasteful than a lavish one boasting gemstones, intricate complications, meticulous craftsmanship, and a unique design?
Personally I feel all microbrands featured in this video is boring, merely copy and paste products, why the LV is the most interesting one.
@@tranquangminh7617to me it’s all subjective. While I may think an MM300 is beautiful and other may think it’s hideous. And while I think a Richard Mille is disgusting and over priced another may love it and must after it. I couldn’t care less what people wear from invicta or low tier Timex to the eye watering pieces demanding nearly 7 figures. Just keep a healthy level of respect for others like and don’t be a snob!

My gran used to say to me there’s something for everyone, I agree there’s some monsters out there but we buy what we like not what is popular (or at least I do) one of my best watches I ever owned was a 1990 Omega Seamaster sword hands , wish I kept it ! But then I also have a Tudor Royal black Roman ? Then I like a Chinese Tourbillion and GS 😂
My collection goes from £70 to £18k GBP , all crap in the eyes of “experts”

It’s refreshing to see a TH-cam watch channel end of the year that isn’t about how the polka-dot Rolex OP monstrosity has grown on them and is now a brilliant idea. My favorite watch of the year not mentioned in the video is the Lorier Hydra Zulu. It’s not for me, but I appreciate that they came out with a dinger that is uniquely theirs as a brand.

I love that Zenith Chronomaster Sport and intend to own one eventually, but I would also mention the Zenith Chronomaster Revival Chrono 37mm, which flew under the radar when it was released a couple of years ago, but is drop-dead gorgeous, especially the "espresso" dial variant that I recently purchased.

My favorite watch release this year was the 55th anniversary Seiko 5. It took everything I loved about my 809 and improved upon it. My only gripe is that the logos are printed instead of applied. Its also the watch that made me break one of my collecting rules. Which is/was no limited editions particularly from Seiko and Omega.

Just wanted to say Hope you have a Merry Christmas a very entertaining video, this video felt like it flew by way to fast, I don't know if it's your years of doing youtube videos but you always have this way of making videos that just always make you want more and for the video to not end just a master class of video making. I don't have a 10 ten best or worst I'm just not that deep into watches to really care to make a list I just love to keep my watch enthusiasm as light hearted as possible for the most part or maybe I just to lazy to think of a best list or worst list for watches that's why I leave up to the watch youtubers to make list it's to hard for me to make list.

My favorite and most worn watch this year was my Longines Titanium Big Eye. I've worn it as a daily driver for a full year and i can barely see any scratches. It is also very accurate.

But excuse the pun, watches are timeless and I'm happy to wear something that cake out 50 years ago, as well as yesterday. Everyone has their own opinions and as such there are no rights and wrongs but there are some ghoulish ones in your worst list. I am concerned for your health, though and hope you are either well or recovering now. I greatly appreciate the effort and time you dedicated to your good gentry even when you feel a bit under the weather. I hope that Christmas Day finds you and yours all well.
Your top 10 best and 10 worst were spot on! Absolutely fantastic! I will add my personal top watches of the year also. Reverse order from least to most best ( is that grammatically correct?):
5. Citizen Tsuyosa. I have fawned for this piece since it was released in Japan. The yellow is the happiest watch I have ever seen. I liked it so much my wife bought it for me. If she buys it for me then you know it is good!
4. Tudor Panda. Not a new release but new to my wrist. I just fell in love with the opaline dial and I haven’t found a watch that is much better a fit for my wrist than Tudor’s 41mm cases. Having a chrono with 200m water resist and all the other specs made it an obvious choice for me.
3. Tudor Pelagos FXD Black. I am a Navy vet. It was made to harken back to Tudor and the US Navy’s heritage. There is no better watch to commemorate my service. Absolutely love this watch. It was just a color way change to some…..for me, it is unutterably special!
2. Tudor Black Bay Heritage. Got this for my 40th birthday! It is my sub. It is what I always wanted in a Bond-sequel, heritage, diver and I wouldn’t change it for anything. It is superb for me.
1. Rolex SkyDweller….. I got my grail. The 2023 mint green and the rose Skydwellers are excellent, but I was on the list for a very long time for the blue and I got the allocation on the 12th of this month. I am still in shock and am wearing it as I write this. I am superbly happy and would tell anyone who asks…..my collection is complete. If someone else buys me a piece, I’ll be thrilled, but I have no intention on another purchase. My cup runners over… I am supremely happy and can’t believe I have my grail.
As for watches I was displeased with.
This will trigger a few people, but firstly : Christopher Ward. They way overpromise and under deliver, the customer service is not up to the level of watches they purport to make. I tried to order and was delayed several times. Finally had to just cancel the order. The level of incompetence lost all my trust in how they would take care of any issues when and if I ever got the watch.
Seiko - the fives were just boring. The other releases were blah overall.
