I want us to build a community that will lift each other up and celebrate mental health together. Let’s get started. What topic do you want me to tackle next?
I love this new direction! I agree there does seem to be a bit of a void on youtube of good videos on the topic. There are so many great topics to chose from, but I'm confident anything you'll make will be great :) If I should toss something in as a starting topic, then maybe something general like "how to know if you need a therapist" and "how to know if your friend needs a therapist" could be good starting points. Coping techniques could also be very good.
I think something that's not being talked about often is: how do i help someone I'm close to with their mental health problems over distance? Often times people retreat and don't really want to talk and often it's not even clear at first that they aren't feeling well but I still want to be there for them but cannot do so physically. Can you give any tips on that?
I touched on this issue a little bit here (th-cam.com/video/zJcjJ2MoPEY/w-d-xo.html) but didn't address the distance part. This could be an interesting video! I'll add it to my list of ideas. Thank you!
I love your channel, thank you for your wonderful, wonderful influence in this world. I've only had horrible experiences with mental health care, medication, all that shabaz, and nobody really taught me how to cope with the many symptoms of schizophrenia. Since many of us don't really have the focus to read thru a bunch of dissertations (I am glad I have amazing focus considering my illness) or to read at all, i'd love for you to make a video about it (especially in the moments we need to know most) And especially not only hallucinations but also the very disabling negative affects. Thank you, again, I hope you have a beautiful day.
Thank you so much for this video. Thank you for not being another mental health professional who insists that seeing a psychotherapist is the only way to get help while ignoring all of the barriers to service that many people face. Psychotherapy is super great, but there has to be something else out there for people who can’t access it. I’m excited to see where you take this platform!
Found your channel through the Buzzfeed Psych reacts to movies thing and I just wanted to say to you that I have SO MUCH RESPECT FOR YOU!!! Seriously! THANK YOU for doing what you do. You saw a need that wasn't being met and decided to do something about it. I really LOVE when people don't just point out the problem but become a part of the solution. Also did you know that your ads are all respectfully relayed mental health ads? Bc if you made that happen that's great.
Well your comment just made my day! Thanks so much for taking the time to click on my channel, watch my videos, and share your feedback. You have no idea how much that means to me and gives me the motivation to keep doing what I'm doing!!!
Story time...lol. I did my undergrad and specialised in Psychology because I wanted to help people and make the world a better place. Then I volunteered as a social worker at the national hospital in my country and did I feel helpless. By the end of the three months I had learnt that it would take breaking myself into many other selves before I could get to everyone. I admired my supervisors who were so open and willing to teach me and patiently answered my questions which bordered on nagging. It's really amazing seeing it broken down like this. Channels like School of Life and Academy of Ideas have helped me navigate through life. Now yours is on that list. I've since moved on to other things but what I know is that I want to go into the advocacy side of things. So pushing for policies that make the work of social workers, psychologists and counsellors a little easier. Not yet sure how...but I'm figuring it out.
Thanks for sharing your story! People who are new to the field, especially those in social work, often get placed in some of the most difficult settings, with the most complex cases, an the least resources. We're just setting up people for burnout when we do this ( digest.bps.org.uk/2018/06/22/burnout-is-common-among-psychotherapists-now-a-review-has-identified-the-personal-characteristics-that-increase-the-risk-further/ ). A good place to keep doing what you're doing might be to just keep telling your story.
Good stuff! As a therapist I sometimes look for videos that will help my clients when I can't see them or when I find a video that explains something succinctly that was discussed in session. The better quality the content out there the better. Also having people putting content out with evidence based practices/techniques helps combat the sketchy stuff you mentioned. Thank you! You are a rockstar amongst us!
This is great, Ali! We are so excited for your new direction. It is a very needed area. I would love to see a video specifically on how an individual can make therapy affordable. Cost seems to be a large barrier for people pursuing mental health services. Thanks!
Thanks so much for your encouragement, Neuro Transmissions!!!! I'm looking forward to this new phase of the show. This is a great question. A bunch of people seem to be interested in it and I'll definitely make a video about it.
As a therapist in private practice I am so happy happy happy to hear you only have 67 clients a year. After leaving a substance abuse nonprofit where you churned out clients in the thousands I have made a deliberate effort to keep my case liad small to be a more effective therapist. I recently went to a conference where they were talking about using computerized avatars to do on line therapy which adapts its response as the client speaks. I think we all felt it to be a little too creepy, but as you pointed out there are not enough of us, and it is difficult to find a good seasoned therapist. Especially in rural areas. Alot of my colleagues in p.p are churning out clients in high numbers and you know they cant be effective. A big problem is poor insurance reimbursement or peoples unwillingness or inability to pay cash, in poor rural areas. Raise the reimbursement and maybe you would have more therapists.
You bring up a lot of great points here. I'm really interested to see more ways to augment traditional treatments with technology. One of my favorite examples is Computer-Based Training for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT4CBT): www.cbt4cbt.com/. Some people might need traditional therapy, some could benefit just from technology, and some could use both.
I found you through the buzzfeedvideo you did of analyzing mental health in movies. I think doing lots of collaborations like that will help you get more of the reach that you're looking for. I love the idea of what you're trying to do here and I'm going to show your channel to all of my friends who I think it would benefit
Thank you so much for your support! Collabs have always been the best way for me to grow my channel. I'm hoping to do a few more of those in the new year. If you have any channels you'd like to see me work with, please let me know :-)
Finding a psychologist or therapist is hard, but in my experience, finding a psychiatrist is even harder. Physicians won't prescribe mental health meds, and psychologists and therapists cant. It took me 2 years to find a psychiatrist to prescribe my meds, and I was only able to do so when I switched to private health insurance.
This is a *HUGE* issue! A good psychiatrist is very difficult to find. Here's an article that explores this problem: www.npr.org/2018/03/09/592333771/severe-shortage-of-psychiatrists-exacerbated-by-lack-of-federal-funding
Honestly, I think it's a bit ridiculous to expect someone who is dealing with a mental health issue to be able to explain what they're experiencing in just the right way, and have it be interpreted correctly by two different people. I understand it's an additional burden to learn about the medication side of things, but I mean, I have a nurse practitioner functioning as my psychiatrist right now. I just want a doctor that will be able to take the time to get to actually know me and be able to work with me on things in addition to medication.
Great video Ali! I love videos on any topic in psychology. Kati Morton does an amazing job on her channel and I love her content. As someone who is entering their third year of undergrad with hopes of being a mental health counselor I'd love to hear more about your experience as a professional in the field and the realities of the job. When you mentioned having only seen 67 patients this year I realized I hadn't ever really heard about that being an "issue" or part of what being a therapist is really like. Thanks for all your hard work!
Thanks for your feedback and encouragement, Ashley! I’ll definitely make more “behind the scenes of being a therapist videos”. I should say the number of patients you see a year varies from the type of clinician you are and where you work. For example, psychiatrists tend to see WAY more patients than social workers, counselors, and psychologists, but also see them for less time. BUT in general mental health clinicians see a lot less people than other healthcare professionals. Some people like this more refined focus on a smaller caseload but a caseload you know in more detail. I’ve always want to make big changes so for me this is a bit frustrating. Thanks again for watching!
Hello, I decided to engage in this comment and give you my opinion about what I think it's one of the best things to address: the basics of mental health. I think it's important to address what are the most important things to always keep in mind. I think to have a very general-oriented personality, I feel that it's hard for me to get into details, I too much wander around getting interested to many stuff. I find it hard to achieve something concrete that it's built with time and effort, I simply lose interest too easily because I get lost in all the little things I could do better and can never see straight ahead the important stuff. It's a pretty heavy subject for me, I see it as a serious problem in my every-day life, but I think it'd be really important for others as well. Cheers and good luck with your project!
Thank you for your feedback! My next video focuses on this exact topic - the basics of mental health. I have it shot but still need to edit it. Hope to have it out this upcoming week.
Great video. I love the new mission and agree the system needs a major change. I think group therapy, apps and other tech advances can help scale psychotherapy to the masses and make it more accessible to rural areas. F2F video sessions aren't ideal but I think it's the only way to help people outside of cities. VR could play a big role. Imagine a VR group therapy session with members from across the country. This means we'll have to get more creative about state licensing and maybe offer a national licensing process. All good topics to discuss.
Thanks so much, Ken! I completely agree with you. Group therapy, and extending its reach through technology, is a win/win. It can be a better treatment than individual therapy, especially for social anxiety, is more affordable for patients, and is good revenue for therapists!
Technology can be so helpful! Not using the tools whe have right now to do good (reach lots of people to help, as you explain) would be a waste. Its great to see more people catching on! More people like you, kati, or CREAS unam's channel. Would love to see a topic on how to refer people to a psychologist! I face the same problem as a psychologist (in city quite populated but with few psychologist that do therapy). Great video!!
This is a really cool concept since TH-cam is such an accessible medium to a lot of people. Thanks for starting this! As for topics, it'd be interesting to hear your take on mental health within the health professions (such as how mental health professionals support their mental health) as an overlooked topic. :)
Thanks so much and wonderful feedback! I'm happy to cover that topic more. Until then, NPR ran a great story about this here: www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2016/06/01/480173677/a-med-student-decides-to-be-upfront-about-her-mental-issues.
I love Kati's channel, and I'm so glad to hear you're going to do educational psychology videos like her too! We need more professionals willing to help in this way. Thank you! :)
Thank you so much Dr. Ali Mattu, please talk about what to do if a friend/family member is suffering from a mental disorder like depression, anxiety etc.
Thanks for watching! I have a video about how to help someone who is experiencing depression here: th-cam.com/video/zJcjJ2MoPEY/w-d-xo.html. Happy to make more 😀
Thanks so much Ryan! My next video should be up tomorrow and will give you a sense of the new tone and style I'm going for. My goal is to reduce barriers in this community and make mental health fun!
This was a great video - thanks for creating a channel with such fantastic content. Apps might be the answer for more effectively navigating the system, and they could free up resources for better care. Makes me think of ATMs facilitating a doubling of the number of bank tellers in the states over 40 years. If I borrow your ratio of mental health professionals to those with diagnosable conditions in the US, you'd need a 63% increase in professionals to meet the demand (if each is responsible for 67 or so patients, and optimistically assuming the second part stays relatively static). This is totally achievable!
Hi Ali, I'm so glad you are deciding to "reboot" your channel. I've definitely benefited from TH-cam and technology in helping my mental health. In particular, the Psychology in Seattle podcast hosted by Kirk Honda has been immensely helpful for me because he talks a lot about the mental health system, theories in the field, and psychopathology. Check them out! I believe simply being educated on all these issues can increase people's compassion of each other and increase self awareness. I would be stoked if more mental health professionals can make educational content on mental health.
Oh wow, I didn't know about this podcast! Thank you for sharing. I'll check out their episodes. I completely agree with you about education. This is something I touch on a little bit in my next episode. But there is research that indicates contact, education, and protests are some of the best ways to reduce the stigma of mental illness and promote better mental health care. Thanks for watching!
Could you do a video on speaking to your inner child? Making sense of what poor attachments during infancy and childhood once one is an adult dealing with the consequences? Object relations?
That's a great video suggestion, thank you! In the meantime, you can get a sense for what CBT is like by watching this video on depression: th-cam.com/video/Gljq2FHzTvY/w-d-xo.html. Also, this video on anxiety: th-cam.com/video/2z-ZGt_vD5A/w-d-xo.html.
I guess my personal issue is I'm 30 years old, I've never seen a professional therapist or psychologist, but I struggle with anxiety and depression every day. I've struggled with some very serious issues since I've been a child. I think my biggest problem is actually trying to decide if it's important for me to see a professional or not. I don't want medications, and I don't know if I want to talk about my stresses/triggers, plus it would be another stressful situation just to try and find a professional that I would actually want to sit down with. I struggle with questions like: "Will it be worth it?" "Will seeing a psychologist actually make my depression any better?" "How would it be helpful?" "Are they going to make me do a journal? I hate journals." Maybe you have some thoughts Doc? If not it's okay, I randomly found your channel and I plan to check out some of your other videos, you've got me intrigued. Thanks for taking time out of your day to not only read my comment but to actually do a YT channel such as this. :)! *Sidenote just realized this video is from August* D:
Thanks for your comment! It is hard to find a therapist, there's no getting around that. But when it comes to your concerns about therapy and if it will be worth it, the best way to find out is going to be trying it. A therapist may or may not ask you to monitor your experiences. For a good sample of some of the things they might say, watch this video: th-cam.com/video/gwmv_KGdceA/w-d-xo.html. Something else to consider is online therapy as a starting place. Here's a good overview of that: thewirecutter.com/reviews/online-therapy-services/.
@@drali Wow such a fast response! Okay, I will be sure to check out both of your suggested links. I may need to look into therapy in the near future, I just hope that I can push myself to actually dive in and find a therapist. Thanks a bunch!
Hey Doc. Despite my extremely inappropriate handle, I’m about to begin my second year of an MSW program and am applying to several Psy.D programs. Each of these processes and everything associated with them has felt somewhat overwhelming and has provoked a relatively large amount of anxiety. So if you could do a video on handling anxiety associated with complex responsibilities that would be incredible. -Steve
Welcome to the field! Do you mean the anxiety of responsibility with your applications or the responsibility of helping a patient? Best of luck in your studies and application process!
The Psych Show Thank you! (Wow I need to make a new account, this is embarrassing) and in general I mean both. However, I’m confident in my capabilities and I have faith in the faculty that has and will continue to train me as I complete the second year of my Masters program both in the classroom and in my field placement. And hopefully that ability and passion translates from the success I’ve had at the masters level to an opportunity at the doctoral level (fingers crossed). But I digress. I suppose what I truly meant was anxiety associated with an uncertainty of outcome about something. I’ve worked so hard to succeed at the masters level and have done things to make myself the most appealing candidate possible for Psy.D programs, but of course I don’t know the outcome of any applications as I am just about to send my application package to the schools I have selected. I feel as though this is something many of your followers, and individuals in general, can relate to! The “I’ve worked so hard! I want it so badly! What if it doesn’t work out?” Feelings of anxiety associated with having a lot of responsibility in the present and a hopeful but potentially uncertain future. Seeing a video about soothing those emotions of anxiety associated uncertainty and self doubt would be extremely fun for me to see and hopefully others as well!
I love this! I think an episode about the difference of a good therapist and one you should break up with. I've had way more bad therapist then good. Three was one my husband and I used for couples therapy in the first session who told my husband to come off his medication such ended up fairly disastrous for his further treatments.
This is a fantastic idea, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! This is not just a problem in USA, but a global problem. We don't have enough therapists, and even if you can get a hold of one, it's not always the right match personality wise, and human interaction is a big part of the procedure. Getting the right kind of help can be difficult sometimes, and that's when the self-help books and programs can be really crucial. Could you please tell us more about the different kinds of treatments you talked about (CBT, DBT, ACT, psychodynamic and psychoanalytic), and how one might use these kind of treatments on oneself? Different exercises perhaps? Or different books you can recommend on the subjects? And naturally, which kind of disorders these treatments are relevant to? Thank you so much in advance. Stay awesome!
Of those 67 people you helped, once they are feeling better, they will feel compelled to go back out in society and contribute in a meaningful way. They will also begin to finally help other people the same way you helped them. Of the people that they helped, how many people will they go on and help? In a way, one on one therapy is helping way more than 67 people who can afford it.
Hi, I found your channel through the BuzzFeed video you did. I love the concept behind what you're doing, and how you're working diligently to meet a need on TH-cam, where millions of people watch videos or clips everyday. Mental Health is extremely important as the body, mind, and spirit are all connected; I've struggled with Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Depression for the majority of my teenage and young adult years. In fact, many of the struggles I've experienced have inspired me to write stories that detail characters going through some of the experiences I've had, and has given me a passion to reach adolescent and young adult readers struggling with problems through my writing. I studied psychology in the first year of college but, after taking a two and a half year break, I switched to creative writing instead. Can you do a video about the impact of insomnia on sleep and how working a job and taking online classes contributes to insomnia? It would be nice to know how to best combat insomnia so me, and other people with similar experiences, can get better quality sleep. Thank you for your hard work!
Thanks for your kind words and support! I've been meaning to make a video on sleep/insomnia and have that on my agenda. Until then, here's a very little clip on what you can do: th-cam.com/video/gwmv_KGdceA/w-d-xo.html
Something that has always bothered me since I began therapy is the ability to tell the difference between normal stress, normal sadness, and symptoms of anxiety and depression. I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder at a pretty young age and an anxiety disorder in my late teens. It feels like an important part of managing my symptoms is recognizing them but not giving them too much emphasis. I don't want to beat myself up for feelings I don't have control over but I also don't want to use them as excuses not to try my best and it can be hard to tell the difference. This is something I recognize in myself as well as others. A lot of times people describe their anxiety and it just sounds like normal stress (but I'm not their doctor, I have no idea). I hope that makes sense. What are your thoughts on this topic? I would love to see content discussing normal vs. abnormal reactions. Thank you!
This is a great question and speaks to the difficulty of dealing with chronic depression and anxiety. It's also a question that often comes up in my work. I try to answer at least part of this question here: th-cam.com/video/_PxY-SPGl4w/w-d-xo.html. Some things to consider: 1) Does my emotion fit the facts of the situation? 2) Does it help me to act on this emotion?
Hi Ali! great work you're doing here. I would wanna see a video about how to deal or talk to people who are on the verge of suicide. I feel like for most people we always say the wrong things and it ends up badly. This is also a bit personal for me since I am surrounded by people who are in more ways than one, suffering from one or more type of mental illness and some of them have attempted suicide. Sorry for the heavy comment. Appreciate it!
Thanks for your feedback, Kael. I made this video last year. Does it help? How to help someone who is suicidal: th-cam.com/video/FLcKKSMbdpw/w-d-xo.html
Hi! I am a 35 year-old getting my BSc in Psychology from the Open University (UK). I love your content! I was wondering what kind of advice you might have about getting into the Mental Health arena at my age.
I recommend speaking to the professors at your university and see what opportunities there are to volunteer in labs and studies. I'd also look at what volunteer opportunities are available at your local hospitals. Another great opportunity can be getting trained to volunteer at a suicide hotline. Good luck!
As I am also a psychology student from BHU india... Aa What you said about that their is huge gap between the mental health provider and the and the mental health patient in U.S But it we see in indian 🇮🇳 context the gap is way much bigger we can calculate... And it takes lots time in when role of AI comes into the play in country like india.... So my questionis, in such situation what we should do now????
You mention 'how to find a therapist' as a possible topic. How about how about an overview of different techniques/schools of thought, with a view to helping people pick what's appropriate for their needs?
AMAZING! Thank you so much for nailing this subject on the head! Can we do something together? I've made a 15 experiential self help practice exercises for my upcoming book (Mastering Adulthood). But I'd love to contribute to your vision if I may be of service! Thanks again for being such a trailblazer here!
Maybe we could chat about the common patterns that emerge under stress or emotionally triggered, which lead to the downward spiral into diagnosis territory? Then offer some preventative skills? I'm sure I could think of lots of ways we could bring our areas together to be more than the sum of our parts. Shall I back channel you? Thanks!
Sure, feel free to email me. The biggest limitation for me is time. I have a number of projects I'm working on so I can't guarantee anything but I'm always open to the discussion.
Wondering if you can do some topics on suicide and ways to cope with suicidal thought? Like how a therapist approaches the patient once they disclose suicidal thoughts. Maybe get into safety planning or other treatments like how to manage chronic suicidality like using CAMS by Dr. David Jobes?
A free version of substantially the same content is available here: www.ahrq.gov/professionals/education/curriculum-tools/population-health/kazdin.html
I don't see how this will help a large portion of mental health community. Group therapy is pointless for me. Through a screen doesn't work for me and I hate watching self help things because I fail every timr
@@eddiew2325 Maybe Medicaid and Medicare don't want to pay for a "real therapist". Sadly that is what low income and vulnerable populations suffer with day in and day out. These people suffer traumas more frequently than others and need/deserve better care, but Uncle Sam doesn't care.
NLP is not considered an "evidence based practice", meaning it has not been proven to work. Most therapists/counselors/psychologists will not use non-evidence based practices for fear of inadvertently harming the consumer or wasting the consumer's time/money.
I love your videos! I am a child psychologist and wish there was more content out there, reliable content, especially for parents. I am inspired by this video so much that I would like to start producing some content of my own. I would really love it if you could share suggestions on the entire process. My journey into social media has just started, so I only have a twitter account so far. My handle is @theshr1nk if you want to connect.

Excellent point Ken! The limits of state licensing boards really creates a barrier to clinicians wanting to scale their helping efforts.
Thanks so much for your feedback! By refer to a psycholigst do you mean as a professional referring to a psychologist or as a friend or family member?
YAY! from a child youth therapist in Canada, this is fantastic!
Thanks Chad!!!
I would love a video about what to focus on, when finding the right therapist, either for yourself or for someone else.
Thanks for your feedback! I've received a lot of requests for this type of video. It'll definitely happen at some point in the near future.
Great job, Ali! Keep this focus. It's needed!
Thank you so much for your support, Brian!
I just got to this video from last year, this is amazing...much needed effort on part of a professional such as yourself!
I am with you brother...
I love Kati's channel, and I'm so glad to hear you're going to do educational psychology videos like her too! We need more professionals willing to help in this way. Thank you! :)
Thank you for your encouragement!!
Happy to make more 😀
I love that you have a favorite research paper and I love that you're rebooting! Can't wait to see how things change. 😃
Hi Ali,
I'm so glad you are deciding to "reboot" your channel.
Kudos!! I love what you're doing! Keep up the fantastic work; you do it so well.
Thank you so much for your encouragement, Meredith!!!
Could you do a video on speaking to your inner child?
Making sense of what poor attachments during infancy and childhood once one is an adult dealing with the consequences?
Object relations?
This is a great idea but unfortunately isn't within my expertise. I couldn't do this topic justice. Sorry about that!
YOU ARE SO AWESOME!
Can you explain CBT in more detail? Pros/cons/practices for anxiety?
That's a great video suggestion, thank you! In the meantime, you can get a sense for what CBT is like by watching this video on depression: th-cam.com/video/Gljq2FHzTvY/w-d-xo.html. Also, this video on anxiety: th-cam.com/video/2z-ZGt_vD5A/w-d-xo.html.
wow this is a good video. thanks doc plz keep em coming.
Good luck!
Ahhhhhhh...this makes sense! UNCERTAINTY!!! I can *totally* make a video about that :-)
This was amazing, I can't wait for those videos. Thank you very much.
Thank you! The next one is recorded. Hopefully it'll be up next week.
Yeah I love Kati! Thanks for doing this!
This.. is a good man. Holy shit.
This is so interesting! Thank you so much.
Until then, here's a very little clip on what you can do: th-cam.com/video/gwmv_KGdceA/w-d-xo.html
another amazing creator for reliable mental health content is Dr. tracey marks very much suggest her
How do we overcome the taboo of seeking mental health care? Or how do we help a friend who we know/think needs to seek such a care to overcome?
Some things to consider:
1) Does my emotion fit the facts of the situation?
2) Does it help me to act on this emotion?
THIS!!!
Please tell us more about what the future of mental health therapy looks like because I’m scared
Hi Ali! great work you're doing here.
@@drali yes! Thank you! More power to you!
Good luck!
I think Primary Care Behavioral Health is the answer. Check out CFHA.
Just came across your channel and I'm excited to learn from you. What do you think of the therapy apps like talkspace and betterhelp?
Thanks for checking out this channel! I haven't used either but here's a great review of them: thewirecutter.com/reviews/online-therapy-services/.
As I am also a psychology student from BHU india... Aa
What you said about that their is huge gap between the mental health provider and the and the mental health patient in U.S
But it we see in indian 🇮🇳 context the gap is way much bigger we can calculate...
Great feedback! I think that could be integrated into a video on how to find a therapist. It's a big part of the puzzle that can be very confusing.
AMAZING! Thank you so much for nailing this subject on the head! Can we do something together? I've made a 15 experiential self help practice exercises for my upcoming book (Mastering Adulthood). But I'd love to contribute to your vision if I may be of service! Thanks again for being such a trailblazer here!
Thanks so much for your encouragement, Lara! What do you have in mind?
Maybe we could chat about the common patterns that emerge under stress or emotionally triggered, which lead to the downward spiral into diagnosis territory? Then offer some preventative skills? I'm sure I could think of lots of ways we could bring our areas together to be more than the sum of our parts. Shall I back channel you? Thanks!
Sure, feel free to email me. The biggest limitation for me is time. I have a number of projects I'm working on so I can't guarantee anything but I'm always open to the discussion.
The Psych Show Done 😃 sent via your website. Look forward to hearing back 🙏🏻
im thinking of choosing psychology for my strand, is it difficult to do them?
This is so sweet
Anxiety and ocd
Awesome! Anxiety and OCD is my area of expertise so this will happen soon.
Thank you sir, it means a lot to me as I am under medication
Wondering if you can do some topics on suicide and ways to cope with suicidal thought? Like how a therapist approaches the patient once they disclose suicidal thoughts. Maybe get into safety planning or other treatments like how to manage chronic suicidality like using CAMS by Dr. David Jobes?
Where can I find the article you mentioned Sir ?
It is in the description of the video!
Rebooting Psychotherapy Research and Practice to Reduce the Burden of Mental Illness: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26162113
How to find a therapist
DEF will be making this video!
HAHA You're such a nerd! I love your shows 🧡
Yes! Entertaining educational materials. The key is entertaining :p. just kidding
67? That's it?! I see 150-200 different people in a year in a community mental health center. No wonder I feel burned out...
maybe you're not a real therapist
@@eddiew2325 Maybe Medicaid and Medicare don't want to pay for a "real therapist". Sadly that is what low income and vulnerable populations suffer with day in and day out. These people suffer traumas more frequently than others and need/deserve better care, but Uncle Sam doesn't care.
Its easy. Just put it public. Problem solved. 75 000 therapist 1 that did 67 becomes 9 276. There.
In my opinion the therapist that know NLP are the most effective. Unfortunately, most therapists do not know NLP.
NLP is pseudoscience.
