Restoring Fern Grotto by Removing Invasive Coral Ardisia

I wanted to show you all this milestone in the restoration project I've been working on, restoring the fern grotto that was invaded by coral ardisia. It has taken many years to restore this small area. The Coral ardisia is a prolific fruiter making lots of berries and they plants have thick roots making them hard to pull up. I use my machete to cut the roots and minimize soil disturbance. Now the native plants including netted chain fern, cinnamon fern, saw palmetto, high bush blueberry and rusty lyonia can thrive.
