The characters presented in this cinematic are:
Kayle - White winged angel/valkyrie, she is an aspect of justice and twin sister of Morgana. She believes justice should be delivered swiftly and with no remorse, no emotions or feelings should cloud anyone's judgement. She believes in carrying her mother's legacy with an iron fist. Think superiority complex.
Morgana - Purple winged angel/valkyrie, the twin sister of Kayle. Despite looking edgy or evil, she is the more compassionate of the twins. She uses earthly magic ( purple colored abilities ) instead of her celestial powers. She has eventually chosen to bound her wings with chains and walk among mortals.
Both have different views on how justice should be delivered. At one point in the past their disagreements bloomed into conflict and they went their separate ways. Kayle resents Morgana to this day.
Aatrox - Demonic looking entity with wings and a giant sword. Aatrox is a Darkin, a corrupted god-warrior who is imprisoned inside the giant sword. As such, he is unable to die. He hates this existence and seeks to destroy the world, in his mind, if there is nothing left, then he can finally get his rest. Every time a living being comes into contact with a Darkin imprisoned in a weapon ( even animals in case of Naafiri ), the Darkin possesses the whoever touched the weapon and transforms it into an approximation of it's former self, completely transferring the consciousness into it's new host. Aatrox had so far ( I think ) two hosts. This one in the cinematic was the first one. Kayle destroys his host here, but he will gain another one later.
Yasuo - The wanderer, a ronin, has learned the wind technique from his master, Elder Souma. Yasuo had a brother Yone, also versed in the arts of the wind. At one point Yasuo's master got killed and Yasuo got unjustly framed and the blame of his master's death was put on him. Yone confronted him and in self defense, Yasuo was forced to kill his brother. Kindred showed Yasuo a vision of the future, showing him a much older version of himself who swore to never kill again, which explains why he replaced his signature katana with a staff and is seen only grazing the bandits with the sword and not slicing them to ribbons. This vision reveals one of his possible deaths. ( A rain of arrows falls on him and the treeline in the distance forms a head of a wolf -> Kindred )
Tryndamere - The barbarian king, shown laying wounded in the snow. In the past, his tribe got attacked and destroyed by Aatrox. He faced Aatrox and got defeated, but received blood magic from his encounter. Aatrox infused him with said blood magic in hopes of corrupting him to turn him into a superior, more suitable host to carry the sword Aatrox is trapped in. However Tryndamere kept his sanity intact and gained Undying Rage, a blood magic ability that allows him to become simply put unkillable for a duration he is in a bloodthirsty state. His eyes glow red during that.
Ashe - Tryindamere's wife, initially betrothed after an arranged marriage to unite the tribes, they actually developed genuine feeling towards each other and fell in love.
Kindred - Essentially League of Legends universe's version of Death. They are two entities in one, Lamb, the white goat-like/satyr looking archer wearing a mask and Wolf, a shadowy wolf wearing a mask. They appear to every living being in their final moments of their lives to collect their soul. Those who embrace death receive a peaceful and quick end by Lamb who shoots them with a glowing arrow. Those who reject death and try to flee, get chased by Wolf who violently and slowly rips their souls out, resulting in a painful death.
Tryndamere's case is an interesting one. He is an anomaly to Kindred, an exception to the natural order of life and death. He is fighting the viking raiders that surround him, but he sees his attackers as Lamb and Wolf. He is sort of fighting in two separate worlds at the same time ( notice how the snowflakes are stopped in mid-air when he's fighting Kindred ). It's possible that every time Wolf takes a bite at him in the "death world" it means that he got hit from the raiders in the real world, but because Tryndamere entered Undying Rage, none of the hits are lethal to him although under normal circumstances, they should be. That's why Lambs tilts her head slightly in confusion. It's also interesting how Wolf left a bite mark on his shoulder pad in the "death world" but remains visible in the real world too.
The way Tryndamere reacts to Kindred though, makes me believe this is not his first encounter with them. He probably sees them every time he enters Undying Rage.
To add on Yas accepted he's death then and there so what actually kills him is Lambs own arrow. Wolf is there in case Yas denied or did not accept he's death.
Kindred, the Lamb and the Wolf, are DEATH itself on Runeterra. So at the end, what was actually happening wasn't him fighting to SURVIVE, he was fighting for his RIGHT to keep living.
That's why when his "ally" showed up, Lamb dropped her weapon becouse she knew he was going to make it.
kindred is ONE of the death's in runeterra, the creatures of death on runeterra gain power through belief. obviously kindred is the most widely believed in version of death

@@lldrumr9095 its explored in legends of runeterra. Lamb and wolf are mainly believed in demacia and noxus and if i remember correctly freljord as well, but each region has its own version of kindred
@@lldrumr9095 Its cannon now that they made LoR cannon since there is nothing in the main lore contradicting it, it was introduced with the addition of Kindred and related cards into that game ... but it may be sligtly modified when they actually merge the different aspects so will have to wait and see
Yea also Yasuo in the end of the scene could also prevented that arrow but didnt because that arrow was a white arrow which meant it came from kindred and Yasuo Accepted his fate.
Also if you look at the last scene of yasuo where the arrows are coming, there is a wolf head silhouette in the woods

The "Demon", is actually one of the Darkin, who are Ascended God Warriors that once fought for a just empire in the past, but they were corrupted by an enemy they defeated, and became evil.
The one in this video is the strongest(probably) Darkin, named Aatrox, and the body holding the sword isn't the darkin, it's actually the sword, which dominates the mind of any mortal that picks it up and morphs the body to it's liking based on how many corpses it can get to build the body bigger. In League's Universe, Aatrox is easily in the top 10 most powerful characters. He himself cannot die, just the body that he controls can die, and once the body is dead Aatrox's mind goes back into the sword until the next host.
BTW: the hot guy is Tryndamere and he has the same magic in his body that the Darkin use, which is what keeps him from dying. Also yes the woman at the end, Ashe, is his wife.
I love everything about the League world building apart from the game itself, the day an MMO comes out for this i'm being a total shut in
League of legends suffers from the same problem that most online games suffer from in that the lore is infinitely more entertaining than the game itself

Hard disagree, league has some of the most amazing multiplayer gameplay I ever played, theres a reason i still love playing it even after 14 years.

I love the game being brutal and is just about killing your enemies, but seeing loving moments like Ashe saving her husband Tryndamere never gets boring. Also the lore for all this is amazing. And the song and vocals are soooooo goooood.

Okay, so I’m going to try my best to make this as short of an explanation as possible for everything you saw (this is still going to be a long comment lol)
The entire theme of this cinematic is death, and the scenes are different periods of time in Runeterra with an emphasis on death.
The first and only words spoken in the cinematic was The Lamb, one of the two halves of The Kindred, who are the most believed in grim reaper/death spirit/death god in Runeterra.
The first scene is the league champion, Tryndamere being surrounded by a rival tribe in the frozen northlands known as the Freljord.
The second scene focuses on a past event where the twins Kayle and Morgana are seen ending one fight to start another. Kayle and Morgana are these god-like beings called “Aspects” which would be labeled as “demi-gods” in other fantasy settings, and this was caused by their mother pretty much ascending to godhood. Their mother was chosen to symbolize “Justice” and both of the twins' magic are inherited from their mother. So while Morgana’s magic is purple and is literally called “black magic” it is actually celestial in nature. Morgana taking off her helmet and planting her sword into the ground is actually supposed to show the differences the twins have ideologically, as Morgana chooses to just use her magic to end the fight as soon as possible instead of fighting with a sword for a weird sense of “honor” or “justice.” This is why when Kayle picks up the sword she gives this mean side-eye to her sister, because she heavily disagrees with this decision. The giant freakazoid gigachad they fight in this scene is named Aatrox, who is also a sort of demi-god entity, instead being part of a group called the “Darkin.” They are basically demi-gods that try to bring as much death and destruction as you can imagine through hemomancy, a magic that uses and manipulates blood of all varieties. Fun fact, that is likely not Aatrox’s actual body, as all Darkin are actually fused into their weapons, so the sword is the actual body of Aatrox.
The third scene is actually a vision of the future, showing what is allegedly a village in the East Asian-inspired lands of Ionia, where our main character in this scene is an elderly version of the champion Yasuo. You were correct in your assumptions of his magic and sword style, as Yasuo is a ronin character who was trained to manipulate the wind with swords with the Wind Technique. Yasuo is one of the richest characters in the lore, as he is one of Riot’s personal favorites, but a tl;dr of his story is that he was framed for the murder of his master, and after having to kill his own brother in self defense, he entered a deep depression and became an alcoholic. The scene’s implications of his future show him as an old man who has abandoned everything he once knew and cared for, because all the wind technique brought him was death and sorrow, which is why he only uses the sword and the wind when it is shown to be absolutely necessary to do so. This is actually a cool part of the video, but him slicing up all the bandits with the wind is not only nice censorship for the Chinese audience that Riot mostly appeals to, but also a cool way to storytelling as Yasuo is intentionally trying to not kill these people as he doesn’t want to do so anymore.
The final scene goes back to Tryndamere, but instead of fighting raiders, he instead faces the Kindred themselves, a way to symbolize that this fight should be where he dies. Tryndamere however, is the character in league of legends known for being “too angry to die” and his ultimate ability likely being what inspired the Warrior’s Holmgang in FFXIV, as they’re literally the same ability, to not go below 1 HP. So instead of going down lightly, Tryndamere’s eyes glow red and he instead chooses to fight the Kindred themselves for his very right to continue living. That is, this is what Tryndamere sees at least, because in actuality he is still fighting the enemy raiders from the beginning of the cinematic. This can also be proven as when Lamb puts down her bow, Tryndamere is no longer on death’s door, as his “Ally” (his wife) Ashe shoots two raiders that were about to kill him, and we get the most adorable and romantic scene ever where Tryndamere’s rage fades away after seeing his wife.

Kindred is the Death itself and is represented by the sheep and the wolf being the sheep who gives the pacefull death and the wolf who gives the fight some wants when they die. Kindred is the protagonist of the video and you can see them in the other 2 fights too.

If you don't want to watch Necrit's vid breaking down the lore in this vid, here's a "quick" rundown:
- The first fight is the sisters Kayle (white) and Morgana (purple) vs. Aatrox (demon dude).
Aatrox is a Darkin; an immortal, demi-god general from the Shuriman Empire (think fantasy Ancient Egypt) whose soul was trapped in his greatsword after he and his fellow generals went mad because their empire fell. He corrupts the bodies and minds of any who pick up his sword, turning them into a crude approximation of his old body with blood magic, and seeks to end all things because he believes that's the only way to circumvent his immortality and finally die.
Kayle and Morgana are twins (Kayle the eldest by a few minutes), their mother was the chosen vessel of the Aspect of Justice (basically a celestial god of justice). They took up their mother's job after the latter moved on to the celestial realm. Each embodies a different view of justice, Kayle being objective (law and order) and Morgana being subjective (empathy and repentance). Naturally, they do NOT get along, but this fight happens BEFORE their personal drama results in the death of their mortal father and they go their separate ways.
- The second fight is Yasuo vs. Ionian bandits.
We don't know EXACTLY who the bandits are, but they're probably Navori. The Navori being a group of people from the same homeland as Yasuo (old mate) who became militant after their homeland was invaded. You got it right when you suspected Yasuo of having wind magic. He was the star pupil of the sword school where the wind technique of swordplay was taught, and tasked with its master's protection when his homeland was invaded. Being young and dumb, he left his post to join the front lines, and came back to find the master killed by what looked like the same technique he taught. This meant Yasuo was blamed for murdering his master, his elder half-brother gave him that scar across his face trying to kill or capture him for this crime. This scene is apparently a vision of Yasuo's future (he's not actually that old yet) given to him by Kindred (discussed below) as a kind of warning of what will happen if he stays on his current path.
- The final fight is Tryndamere vs. Kindred (ft. Ashe)
Kindred, as an earlier comment has said, is basically a "grim reaper" figure in this narrative universe, the white "lamb" representing a peaceful acceptance of death, the purple "wolf" representing a struggle to the bitter end. Tryndamere is on the verge of death, surrounded by enemies, and they've come to collect.
Tryndamere (whose moniker is legit "the Barbarian King") was infected by Aatrox's (Yeah, the same guy from the first fight, dude gets around) blood magic in a confrontation that he survived, giving him a portion of Aatrox's immortality, though no one knows the extent of it (not even Death themselves, apparently). You notice that he's surrounded by enemies in the opening scene, but those warriors aren't there anymore later? They haven't actually left, Tryndamere just can't see them. All he can see is Death (Kindred) coming for him. It's likely that the blows Kindred make mirror those these warriors are making as Tryndamere blindly slaughters them thinking he's just fighting Kindred. When Tryndamere's wife/Queen Ashe (frost archer lady) saves him, Kindred peace out because it's just not Trynd's day to die yet.
Kindred only appears subconsciously, the surrounding soldiers are the cause of death. Death is predetermined, those who resist fate will have to confront Kindred. Tryndamere was unable to defeat the defeated soldiers, which meant he could not escape the Sheep and the Wolf. But he tried to fight to change his fate, holding out long enough for Ashe to come to his rescue.
In the future, Yasuo already exists, protect what needs to be protected, and have forgiven yourself for past mistakes. He passed away peacefully after receiving Kindred's silver arrow.
There's SO much lore that can be unpacked just from this short video. One thing you were kind of right about was at the end. That man who was fighting the masked figure and her shadow wolf is Tryndamere, the Barbarian King. The woman who saved him was Ashe the Frost Archer and Queen of the Freljord, they were initially married through a political marriage but have been slowly falling in love with each other over time. The two angels who were fighting the demon are twin sisters Kayle and Morgana who used to fight together but their philosophical differences drove them apart. Kayle became an overzealous believer in law and justice to a downright fanatical degree. Morgana believed in free will and rejected the laws and traditions that her sister upheld which caused her to become a "fallen angel" who was made an outcast by her homeland of Targon. The two are enemies now and always trying to kill each other.

I really recommend watching necrits lore breakdown of this cinematic, there really is a LOT to unpack here.
Some other Necrit videos are also a great introduction to leagues lore, he has some videos about the whole lore of the world in a nutshell
lore time:
the first scene takes place in ancient history. just outside of demacia's walls kayle and morgana are fighting aatrox (all 3 are playable characters)
kayle (the golden hair girl) and morgana (the purple hair girl) are children of the celestial god and the aspect of justice mihira. Kayle seeks to bring justice down with an iron fist upon the mages of demacia (ironically using celestial magic herself)
morgana forsook her powers to live among the humans. in this cinematic we get to see the exact moment she does this along with the face of disappointment kayle gives her when she does this
aatrox was an ascended warrior of ancient shurima. he has the celestial energy of aurelion sol (essentially the real god of this universe) poured into his body. the ascended warriors eventually were called to icathia to fight against the void incursion but the horrors that this war brough have haunted them ever since. As the ascended fell further into insanity, Xolaani used her blood magic to twist their bodies and minds turning them into the black and red creatures we see now. these creatures were named darkin and were seeled within their weapons by the current aspect of twilight (hence why aatrox's sword has a pulse). If a mortal wields the darkin weapons they are corrupted and the darkin regain their bodies
the second scene takes place in the future. what i can only presume to be navori warriors or cabal's assassins are burning a village down. an elderly yasuo walks in between the bad guys and their victim and fights them off. it looks as if he at some point gave up fighting but weilds a blade here again, making use of his wind based fighting style. at the very end of the scene you can see "wolf" looking at him in the shadows
yasuo (a playable character) is a samurai of a proud ionian clan. he and his master were the only people who knew the wind technique. during the noxus invasion of ionia, yasuo was ordered to stay at the temple and protect his master while his brother and the rest of his clan fought on the front lines. yasuo, wanting to prove himself left to fight. however, during this riven (another playable character) was sent by noxus to kill the master which she is successful in. when the clan returns to see their master dead they blame yasuo who runs away. he is eventually forced to fight and kill his own brother, yone (also a playable character). this deed haunts him for many years until he finds his brother resurrected with an ionian demon, "azakana", attached to his face and a vendetta against those very demons. he moves past his guilt and is now wandering across runeterra (the planet the lore takes place in) looking for his purpose (not going to spoil the ruined king game with any more information)
the third scene takes place in present day. tryndamere is lying on the ground and wakes up to kindred hunting him. he fights them before ashe comes to his rescue
tryndamere (a playable acharacter) is a warrior from the freljords. seeking protection for his clan he took part in an arranged marriage with ashe, although over time the two have come to love each other. in the past tryndamere came to blows with aatrox who implanted some of his cursed blood into tryndamere, which gives tryndamere near immortality. as we see in the cinematic, tryndamere has to fight off kindred everytime he is on deaths door until he either beats them or is saved by someone else from the dangers that actually surround him
ashe (a playable acharacter) is the leader of the avarosan tribe. she is an iceborn meaning she is able to wield the true ice weapons without dying. she is supposedly a descendant of avarosa, the iceborn queen. in the cinematic we can see her kill the 2 warriors that were about to kill tryndamere, saving him from them and incidentally kindred aswell
kindred is on of the many manifestations of death in league. all the versions of death on runeterra have their powers directly linked to how strong mortal belief in them is. kindred is most widely believed version of death in present day and is thus the strongest of them. there was once a person the lore calls "the grey man", this man was so lonely he took an axe and split himself in half "so that he would always have a friend". it is strongly hinted that lamb and wolf are the two halves of this man and have been hunting mortal souls and taking them to the afterlife ever since. those who lived and died with honour our put to death quickly and painlessly by lambs arrow. those who lived a life of sin are hunted mercilessly by wolf.

That dark-haired warrior with a huge sword? That's Tryndamere, an Iceborn whose tribe was attacked in the past by Aatrox (the demon-like being, Darkin, who's fighting the two winged sisters, golden-haired Kayle and dark-haired Morgana). Tryndamere was cursed with a little bit of Aatrox's blood magic because of this attack and now he has an ability called The Undying Rage. Meaning when in the brink of death he becomes so damn angry that he can repel Death itself.
Death in Runeterra is personified by Kindred, the twin spirits of death: The Lamb (the one with the bow) and The Wold (pretty self-explanatory). Tryndamere is actually shown fighting Kindred, which is what happens LITERALLY EVERY EFFIN' TIME he uses his Undying Rage. He's really fighting those soldiers in the real world, but in his soul he's fighting Kindred.
The golden-haired ranger that comes to the rescue, saving Tryndamere *IS IN FACT* his lover and wife, Ashe. Ashe is the leader of the Avarossan tribe. And she the only person in the world who can safely approach Tryndamere when he's under influence of his Undying Rage. When he's in that state, he'll just slaughter anyone nearby, friend of foe. But as shown here, Ashe can calm down his Undying Rage.
Also that badass old man is Yasuo. The whole scene is actually a vision of potential future given to Yasuo by Kindred. It's a future in which Yasuo have given up on literally everything including his wind technique and love just to atone for his sin of killing his brother Yone. You can see in this scene that Yasuo doesn't kill anyone in this fight. Even when using his wind technique, he just knocks his enemies down. And he actually uses his tornado to knock leader of the bandits away knowing that rain of arrows will fall down from the sky in a few seconds. Yes, Yasuo is hit with those arrows and dies. That's what it is. A prophecy of Yasuo's death. And the sad thing is - prophecies are pretty much unavoidable in Runeterra. At least those until now were... So if Yasuo denied that prophecy and his fate became different - that would be quite an accomplishment indeed.
The little fact that can be mentioned here is that Yasuo is actually in a romantic relationship with Ahri. the nine-tailed fox Vastaya girl of Ionia. This fact was revealed not too long ago. The prophecy would mean that this love is destined to lead nowhere. Which makes sense since Ahri is afraid to be with any man because of her power causing her to absorb life force of her lovers, killing them as a result.

The ones at the end are Trynadamir the barbarian king, kindred the lamb and wolf, lastly Ashe who is tryndamir's wife
The beardy guy with the big sword is Tryndamere, fighting againsta Kindred, The Sheep represents a calm and quick death for those who accept it, and the Wolf is the painful and slow death for those who don't, and the "ally" is Ashe, leader of the Avarosan tribe, and Tryndamere's wife, fun fact, in her tribe the woman leader can have multiple husbands, but she's the only one who took only one, and what started as an arranged marriage and just for benefits, they ended up loving each other

I'm still sad the old lore was blown out years ago but with Arcane I have hopes for what they're building.

Definitely more of a lore cinematic but the premise is past with the two angels future with the samurai present with the warrior and wife archer though the eyes of death the lamb and wolf
No it's not lol. Kayle and Morgana fought aatrox thousands of years before present day in league's lore, they are the past. The Samurai(Yasuo) is a potential future, and tryndamere(the Viking guy) is present
@lldrumr9095 thats what I said I didn't name them since dipper won't know and yasuo was given the vision by kindred so technically it is what happens but it is lore heavy since some who is not familiar won't understand it fully

Hate the game, love lore and adore each cinematic. I've played lol since beta and frankly for the last 3/4 years the only enjoyable part of the experience are the top notch cinematics and champion lore. Hope you get to experience all the good parts of LoL.
