My obsession with getting the perfect TV which I know will never exist tired me out. Like months worth of researching, racking my brain on getting the best one was frustrating to say the least. I wish I could say I have enough cash to not care but I think that's the biggest factor when we obsess over tvs or anything expensive for that matter. Some of us can afford to get a new one every other year or maybe year but I stay with a TV for a good amount of time. Anyways with that said, I'm enjoying my A80J and I'm a huge gamer. But I also use it for movies, TV and streaming so picture quality is important to me. I had to make a sacrifice and I was willing to sacrifice dolby vision at 120hz and vrr possibly never coming to the TV.
I feel comfortable with my choice but it didn't come easy and I have to say thank you for all your informative vids!

I know I am late in responding but when you actually ask for a different use case I MUST speak up!
I have 3 home theatre systems... Primary in the living room, secondary in my master bedroom, and a third in my home office.
In ALL of these cases, the system is based around a processor(or receiver), a bunch of power amps, OTHER audio and video sources, and many many speakers and subwoofers.
The audio portion of EACH room represents tens of thousands of dollars invested, and the television is usually similar or LESS than the processor... The television is also the most "disposable" part (I have upgraded all three at least once in the past year and I am already thinking about the next living room television...
I put a 65" Hisense U8G in the office based on your (and other) glowing reviews of the picture... I am delighted with the result.
I have a Visio 75" in the bedroom that I am satisfied with (don't recall the model but it's last year model with Dolby Vision, and e-arc (missing from the older Visio it replaced)...
I have an 86" LG UM8070AUB in my living room and while it was amazing when I first installed it... It is now the weakest picture in the house in the location I do the most watching... I am running a 9.2.6 system with over 200 W per channel (rms all channels driven) in each of the 9 base speakers AND each of the height speakers and a pair of SVS SB16 Ultras... I paid an electrician to put 2 dedicated 20A circuits in the room.
I don't give a RAT'S ASS about the speakers or sound that the TV makes! I will never hear it... ever.
I am having a very difficult time finding reviews of JUST the picture, colour and motion quality of the TV... I also don't want to pay for quality audio in a television that is really ONLY a display but it seems like getting a 10% picture improvement means also paying for a big redundant audio upgrade...
Help! I want a big (85" plus) display that can be VA or IPS or qled or oled or micro (no off axis seating in my place) with astounding picture quality, capable of playing Grand Tourismo in a competent manner. I will NOT be buying a projector because it is also my living room and there is no place from projector or screen and during the day one wall is all windows (heavy acoustic dampened drapes for movies and night).
I know it sounds like a "niche" but we are a MUCH larger group of people than display makers seem to think! Just look at how many brands of high end theatre processors and receivers are backordered globally!
For HT enthusiasts, the display is NOT the biggest investment and its usually the most frequently upgraded... We need quality mass market displays WITHOUT paying for audio features!!

Completely agree my 55 inch a90j is the most stunning tv I've ever seen. Also the way it reacts to settings is nuts. You can get any image you want. People love talking about how accurate they sre out of the box. What some may not realize is just how much color and depth you can pull out of it with its settings. So it has use cases for everyone is my point. I don't don't I've ever seen a tv react so well and change so much with settings. You also have color space options right in front without a service menu. You have balck adjust. You have the reality creation which actually does improve the insge as insane as that is. Everything it has just works not to mention the best noise reduction of any tv on the market lol.

I owned a XBR 27 w/PiP, subwoofer and could rotate it a couple of degrees off centre with a touch of a button on the remote. It also incorporated a space in the cabinet under the screen to accommodate a VCR (remember those?) and I got 20+ years out of it before it died.
I’ve owned a JVC, 2 RCA’s (Low Definition TV) and an AQUOS which I got 5 years out of it before it died & it couldn’t be repaired (motherboard?). I recently purchased a Sony Bravia XR X90J with a 4 year warranty and I will be quite perturbed if it gives up the ghost in 5 years but I’m hoping that won’t happen and that I made the right decision in going back to Sony.

I absolurely feel sony is the best this year hands down. You have one you get to see you know how good it is. That's why you never let what yoy see somewhere else effect what you have already seen yourself at home. These tvs are used so many different ways. I appreciate soby and there settings. You can get whatever image you want and for me that means something. If you want super saturated you can grt it with live color or even changing the color space. You have black adjust for further added depth snd even deeper blacks which is crazy considering this is alresdy an oled I'm talking about. You have reality creation for added detail and sharpness. It's an incredible tv and the brightest oled out. It also gets brighter colors now not just dark so it can now get brighter saturated colors even in bright highlights it's na incredible sight and just so so good to see. John just explained this yesterday the same thing I've been explaining. Same thing Vincent and dnice and others have been explaining also. I hope next year at the shootout you are able to get right in front of them and closer so you can see them. I mean color washout on oled is still a thing at 50 degrees even 25 degrees there is color shift. All good though these tvs are incredible especially for there processing. Awesome video as always fomo.
Also guys enver let anything or anybody effect your buying decision whether you want lg or samsunf or Sony it doesn't matter. Get what you want to and what you like forget the rest and enjoy. I know what I see on a daily basis and nothing can change what I've seen myself. I know how I like to use my a90j and it is incredible.

      @joanhernandezciriza3797 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Well VRR is not necessary if your Pc/Xbox maintains a locked FPS to whatever the TVs refresh rate is. In this case you will not notice anything. If the refresh rate fluctuates (the case in most games) it becomes night and day.

I have a high end PC with a 165 Hz refresh rate monitor with VRR. In my experience at frames over 100 you can’t tell a difference because the FPS is so high. If you’re getting 100 FPS and it dips to 82 FPS briefly, you don’t really notice. At 60 FPS and lower, it actually does have a benefit in smoothing out frames. If you dip from 60 down to 45, it can look choppy if you don’t have VRR

Last march i bought the x900h, and i am still very happy with it. Never earlier had such a bright sharp screen watching tv.
With ps5 woww, crisp image. Should be updated by Sony to "real 120hrtz@4k" instead of upscaled as now, but when or if i don't know, also still waiting for vrr and allm update.
For months now i appreciate my tv.
I bought the x900h because of the Sony ads online as it should be the perfect partner tv for ps5, so hoping for a happy ending !

I just bought a 65in x900h for $1k yesterday and I think even if they never fix the TVs limitations with 4k/120 and vrr, it was still the best option at that price point for me. Motion handling and PQ are what's most important for me, and that is what sony excels at. And I'll always choose visual fidelity over fps in games, so 120hz is kind of pointless for me anyways. I tried cheaping out with a 2019 vizio m series, and it was just a functionally terrible tv. PQ was decent, colors looked great, but it developed a bad flicker, and would regularly brick itself.
I was debating between a 55in x90j and a 65in x900h to replace it, but I just felt like I really needed the extra size since it's for a decent sized living room. Hopefully I made the right choice.

Not one regret purchasing my A9G 77"OLED just over 2 years ago now. Absolutely love Dolby Vision on this tv, recently allot of streaming has been put out in Dolby Vision, Game of Thrones on HBO in DV looks absolutely incredible! 💯 Barely any picture adjustments are needed at all regardless of picture mode. As far as brightness I have blue eyes and wear sunglasses wherever I go, I'm only using 90% brightness on this screen in all picture modes. Never got into super bright screens or wanted one, to each their own. Sony has the best color palette period and absolutely shines with DV. Still every now and then, I am amazed by the picture quality and colors of this TV.

I think sony is the best out right now on pure image quality and best color production of any tv I've seen yet. Whether it be accurate which numbers don't tell the full story with as we have seen multiple times now. Or whether it be jacked up with settings to have an innacurate super colorful image. It can do it all when it comes form an image quality standpoint. I just love sony and there settings and experience I don't think they have anything unforgivable. Tbh it needs vrr ok sounds good, I mean we should get it regardless of what some may say. I think they are still the best. It's easy if you want a gaurunteed gaming tv that has vrr get the lg. If you want a tv show and movie and overall content tv which is what a tv actually is anyways then get a Sony lol. It still games great even without vrr. still my favorite game mode experience with the image also. Also if you sre on console don't even worry as thwy already have built in vsync which is going to help anyways. It's why when playing ps5 I haven't had 1 issue yet on my a90j. I just have never had such an insanely good experience with a tv and a tv that reacts so good with specific settings. The changes you can make on this thing is huge. Very versatile any image you want tbh.

It's actually quite funny to hear so many people talking about "image color accuracy", since it's actually impossible to know what are the "correct colors" for any image. At least in terms of shades; as an example, we all know a rose isn't supposed to be brown, but there is no way of knowing if the SHADE of red being shown is correct or not

No windows so light is controlled; currently using 2 Hisense 55" h9 tvees after watching your recommendations last year (did at home side by side with Samsung 8000 and was sold!!). I now find that I have to sit too far away and give up much more office real estate than I banked on. I may be able to get away with two 43's and gain back at least 40% of the room I lost. Mostly only concerned with PC productivity but I also do stream Netflix, Prime, Disney and Hulu.... Thanks in advance for the guidance; I really do lok towars your vids for my tv buys in the last few years...

If the the X95J is on par with the X95H with 4K 120Hz added to the X95J Sony is on a winner for much less than the Neo QLED's. More Dimming Zones aren't the be all and end all.

We bought a 4K Sony Bravia in November 2018. It died on Christmas evening this year (2021), just a month out from the extended warranty. We’re currently trying to get Sony to come to the table in terms of footing the cost for repairs (as advised by the store we bought it from).
We have a 15 year old Pioneer plasma and a 13 year old Samsung LCD that are working still working and have had no problems since day one.
As a Film and Television editor for over two decades, Sony has been the brand of choice for the majority of equipment I’ve used. So for the television to just stop working after only three years is unacceptable.

people need to STOP SAYING THESE TVS AREN'T FOR "GAMING". BE SPECIFIC.
full HDMI 2.1 = high end PC GPU gaming, and competitive garbage.
HDMI 2.0b + 2.1 with no VRR = immersive single player games where 4K60 is excellent and more than enough.
sick of non-gamers saying "gaming" as if it applies to literally all games. it doesn't.
some people just want the best picture quality out there, for single player games, which Sony TVs provide.
don't tell them not to get an X90J, X95J or A80J just because it doesn't have VRR. VRR is largely unnecessary.
