Honestly I think his method was more efficient, unless you're VERY comfortable with relative coordinates. I played through this map right before I watched the video and I accidentally blew up the chest with the pickaxe without realizing it. I did a fill command to replace everything with diamond ore, and it said that 284 blocks were replaced. Then I subtracted that number from 343, the total number of blocks in a 7 x 7 x 7 cube. Took me far longer than I care to admit, but I got my 59 answer lol.

You don’t need to know a specific coordinate set, you just need to make sure that the cube is in that box. Once the diamonds are filled, you get the exact number of diamond ore that has been replaced. It wouldn’t take more than 30 seconds.
Protip: when doing a command that has coordinates, one of the auto fill suggestions for the coordinates will be the block you’re looking at. So If you want to fill a specific area, look at one corner, autofill the first coordinate, then go to the other corner and autofill the second coordinate.

A guide for the map with no commands: To clear the first room, smelt the iron in the furnace using the tools. When done efficiently, you don't need to use sticks. Using the smelted iron and the stored sticks, craft an iron axe. Hold the axe in your hand and it'll be replaced with a stone axe capable of breaking oak and birch logs. Break the wood and pick it up. In the second room, look for the shulker box in the floor. It should be directly to the left of the room's entrance (when coming in). Stand on it and open it. It'll prop you up just enough that if you quickly close it and jump towards the stairs, you'll land on them, allowing you to clear the wall. In the third room, there's a little opening at the top where you can reach the piglin. Use your axe to crit it to demonetization. In the fourth room, simply have patience and walk through the cobwebs. In the fifth room, craft the oak log from the first room into planks and drop one plank onto the pressure plate down below. (If you drop more or drop anything else, you lose and have to start over). You'll get the anvil. Throw it in the hopper to proceed. In the sixth room, grab the two cobbles and stick from the chest. Go back to the first room and craft a sword. Then go to the fourth room and break 12 string. Go back to the first room and craft three wool using the string, then three wool and the three remaining planks into a bed. Place it on the gold in the sixth room. Wait and sleep. If you're running low on hunger, you could store your items in the chest and jump down the pit of the fifth room (not that it matters, since regen is off). In the seventh room, use the infinite birch saplings and bone meal to get birch logs. Remember, your axe is capable of breaking oak AND birch. The birch logs you get can be placed on iron blocks, which line the walls in a two-across-one-up pattern, so you gotta do a little parkour to get to the top. Step on the pressure plate and proceed. In the eighth room, the gold sword has the "unbreakable" tag. Start defeating as many blazes as needed. You can use EXP to get better looting and save time. Looking at the command block, it's supposed to be a 1/50 drop without looting. Just be careful of death by fire, if the Blaze attacks you in time. I almost lost the books and swords once to fire. In the ninth room, it's all about brewing. Put two awkward potions in a stand with sugar to get two swiftness. In another, put one awkward potion with a rabbit’s foot to get leaping. In a third, place a blaze powder with an awkward to get strength. In the fourth, a spider eye with an awkward to get poison. In the fifth, a ghast tear with awkward will get regeneration. Wait until they finish. Take them out, but do not consume them. Place a pufferfish with an awkward in one to get water breathing. In another, a golden carrot with two awkward potions to get night vision. In the third, a turtle shell with an awkward potion to get slowness and resistance. and in the fourth, a phantom membrane with awkward to get slow falling. In the fifth, place the regular water bottle, one swiftness, and one night vision with a fermented spider eye to get weakness, slowness, and invisibility (respectively). Finally, a magma cream with an awkward potion will give fire resistance. Those are the thirteen potion effects for the advancement. Place all the potions in the brewing stands in any order, adding gunpowder to them to turn them all into splash potions. Once you have the thirteen splash potions, throw them all at your feet to get every advancement. Once the popup appears, drink a milk bucket to get rid of any effects. In hindsight, turtle master gives you slowness, so you don’t have to ferment a swiftness potion. In the tenth room, just break the stone and ores using the given iron pickaxe and count the diamond. As seen in the video, it's 59. Since you defeated Blazes and mined diamond ore, you'll easily have enough to rename the paper using the anvil. Drop it in the hopper to move on. Walk through the iron doors, and congratulations, you beat the map.
Crazy seeing how much different mindsets we have on what we wouldve done. At the birch tree part thing I wouldve just given myself resistance then summoned tnt to launch myself up.
so my strategy would be one of two things. 1 if the commands running in the back are a datapack you can disable that with commands,and if it's command blocks of you know what you are doing you can disable them using a few commands. From that point to go spectator and win.

It’s possible to beat the entire map with only one command: /gamerule commandblocksenabled false and then setting your game-mode to spectator and flying to the end of the map. (you might also need to re-enable commandblocks at the end to get the win scenario)
The Redstone lamp one could be done by using levitation and 255 resistance, the blaze could be done easier with said resistance+255 strength, the cobweb thing could maybe be done with 255 or lower speed 12:30 Haste...255. 14:10 there ya go
