They're gonna have to drop all these prices down to $35,000 or they won't sell....I've done math that actually suggests they'll go down to $17,000. People financed $62,500 for a $50,000 car. And now the price crashes.... 💀
its a bit upside-down here in B.C Canada as well. Lightly used 2023 Tacomas with 20k km going for 5k more than new! and the gen 4 prices are just silly.
Idk what it's like in BC but alberta has some cheap ass dodge trucks right now. I don't really want dodge but can get 23s with 10k for under 40k... it's damn tempting
Very good video. I went to buy a lease return and discount was basically horrible after they told me 10% interest rate I was no way . The offer was simply stupid. The prices of all new cars are heavily inflated and with high interest rates they will simply not sell.
It''s not primarily an oversupply problem. Auto manufacturers constantly track sales and adjust production to keep demand just beyond supply. The artificially low interest rates of the last few years fueled buyer demand, which elevated prices. But now, with interest rates and prices sky high, demand has dwindled. The housing market is facing the same bubble.
Yeah, One month “I just bought the last great Tundra with hardly any miles”. A few months later “I just bought the last greatest 4 Runner”. Next month “why I am selling my new Toyota trucks”. It is funny. He has his reasons and it’s his own personal business. Just don’t show up with “why I bought a Nissan Frontier”.
There are companies that haven't been so greedy and they're still selling cars. Mazda and Subaru both have multiple well built and reasonably priced vehicles. Consequently both are ahead of last year and have set sales records for several models.
In 2014 I bought a 2012 Ford Focus Hatchback with a manual transmission (no automatic transmission issues) for $8,400 off of the original sticker price of $22,400. It only had 16,000 miles on it, which is what I drive in 1 year. Now, it's been paid off since 2019, has not had 1 major issue, just regular maintenance items, and it has 175,000 miles on it and still runs like new. I'm 60 years old and this will be the last car I own. Today's cars are just data collection devices that violate your privacy and makes more money for the car company. I don't need a vehicle with a coffee maker, a well drilling attachment, or satellite tracking software, I just need a reliable vehicle. My co-worker has the same kind of Focus but his is a 2014 model. He has 334,000 miles on his, original engine, and still runs like new. Granted, we are both "car guys" and have taken care of our cars ourselves, so oil changes happened on time. I am happy to get a thousand or two dollars worth of bodywork (I live in the rustbelt) and not have to get a new car payment of a thousand dollars every month. I love this little car, gas mileage is great between 34 - 40 MPG depending on time of year. What incentive could I possibly have for replacing it?
@@tectoronto2598 - A rust free, 12 year old car with 175,000 miles in NE Ohio is as common as unicorns when they have spent their entire time here. Rock chips around wheel wells, kicked-up random stones on the highway hitting the hood or roof, and other incidentals that break the paint down to the metal will cause rust over time, no matter how much protection the bottom of the car has. Right now my car may need about $600 - $700 in rust repair, but the entire hatch will need to be repainted as the paint right below the rear window is defective and peeling off, or it might just be the car being outside in the elements its entire life. That is going to be about another $700. Whatever the total cost ends up being.....I will still be way ahead over the cost of buying another car.
It’s crazy, yesterday I was looking to purchase a truck, got approved for a 2025 F150 STX (4x4) and they came back to me with a monthly payment of $1149. I walked out 😂 I’m just gonna wait it out a bit
All explanations can be stopped in a simple sentence. People need and want cars to get from A to B and to run errands. We don't need a spaceship to do these activities. Car companies are making and trying to push items the population doesn't want or need and these companies need to either change or go out of business. Car makers have turned from a business that made cars on order that you waited for, to companies that have become their own life form that cannot be killed. They're too big, top heavy and WAY too money intensive to survive. It HAS to happen that they collapse. It HAS to happen. A business relies or orders, not on unsold glut and that's where they are. Instead of selling 10 glasses of lemonade with .10 cents profit to make a dollar and everyone wins, they want to sell ONE glass at $1.00 and have their profit in one shot and the customer loses. Go out of business.
I assume you're in the mid-west? It blows my mind the amount of inventory I see out there! Here, in SE Massachusetts, we do not have this many vehicles on lots at all. I was at my local Ford and Toyota dealerships the other day and there were barely any new vehicles at either.
I have a question, did prices come down on the cars that where built in Mexico with cheap labor paid? All it did was give the auto makers building cars in Mexico more profit for them not lower prices for Us. I think Toyota and other brands even raised thier prices more so thats fine they can charge them tarrifs they will just have to lower thier prices and make less money and that goes for tarrifs on China products and its our choice to buy them or not.
There are no Federal laws or mandates for EVs. NO mandates or laws exist for the purchase of EVs. Local governments are free to choose what they want, and some have chosen to try out EVs for their fleets. It's like saying that the government killed the market for rotary dial desk phones or the Blackberry with a mandate for smartphones. EVs are not going away, just as the billions of smartphones and tablet computers on Earth aren't going away. Get it?
@dvader3263 I dare you to Google "electric vehicle push" and read the overview of everything the government has passed. It's quite the wake up call on how car manufacturers are being influenced to push EV's. I'll be nice and assume you just didn't know how far they are going. You don't need laws or mandates when you can leverage the EPA.
Saw an add in central BC dealer, Lightning, marked 118,000, 30,000 off, already 2 yrs on lot. Absolutely stupid. Could these manufacturing companies not read the room any better? WOW
New from a local San Diego dealership, I paid $45k for my F150 Lariat with 5.0 V8, FX4, Technology and Sport package (negotiated a $10k discount). I cannot bring myself to paying $75-$80k for its replacement. Ford has treated me like crap during the time I’ve owned it so it’s good to see them hurting right now.
You are right, the dealers shot themselves in the foot by abusing customers, one of the worst that abused the most was toyota, I don't know what they were thinking with all this.
I own a 2010 Chevy Silverado that I bought new for $23k. Fast forward to 2023... I was killing time so I wandered around a local Chevy dealer looking to see what the replacement cost of my truck would be. Apples to apples comparisons are impossible because every truck comes with a bunch of gadgets as standard equipment now, but the closest spec'd truck I could find was $54K. More than twice the price in 13 years. So I googled truck prices for the past 50 years. Inflation on truck prices has averaged 1.58% per year since 1983, but in 2021 and 2022, it jumped 6.09% and 10.83% respectively. This means that a $25k truck in '83 should cost $47k today. But a truck that cost $25k in '83 would have been the most lavishly appointed truck money could buy... a very expensive truck at that time. Considering that the most expensive trucks today cost over $100k, it's easy to see that inflation isn't to blame. The manufacturers are boasting multi-billion dollar profits, executives getting huge bonuses, all while manufacturing has been streamlined and materials have gotten so bad that everything breaks if you drive the vehicle as intended. The whole thing sucks.
OK. Video sheds light on Ford dealer near me having stopped advertising "price". Rather, dealer is advertising LEASE agreements. Some of those $95K Ford Expeditions have cardboard "shield plates" beneath them.
Referring to Ford in particular, not only did they over-produce cars and trucks they can't sell, they made their customers wait for many months between the deposit and the delivery when these same cars and trucks were first released. Then, on top of that, these same customers were given a vehicle loaded with problems. Why Farley still has a job there is beyond me.
Excellent take on the current market. Can you give an assessment on the new Ram RHO and approximate potential prices for lightly used RGOs with 5-10k miles a year from now?

OMG son, this is a 5 minute (max) video stretched out to over 15 minutes by repeating yourself 2-3x.
Young people are living above their means. It’s high time reality sink in and they start driving what they can afford. Good for the banks cracking down on the deadbeats.
Tells us a guy that buys new vehicle every month and probably never struggled to pay a single bill
Dealerships are privately owned. Price gouging and high interest rates are killiing the car industry.
These dealerships that moved to Mexico will have to move back to America! Make car quality great again! Make Toyota V6 and V8 again!
@@marimashburn7796 maga !
95k for an expedition? I’m going to be honest, who needs a vehicle that big?
Yes, everyone should purchase the vehicle that U think is best for them.
If you have a wife and 3 kids. Your wife will force you out off buying a truck, and will force you to get 3 row suv lmao.
Hey, it's the American way... Almost nobody needs it, but almost everyone thinks they need it...
@@neilbaquiran643 Only if she wears the pants in the house...
It is called choice. I want a Toyota Sequoia but the new hybrid versions with a smaller IC engine are unacceptable.
Insurance isn't making it easier to buy a new car.
There are companies that haven't been so greedy and they're still selling cars. Mazda and Subaru both have multiple well built and reasonably priced vehicles. Consequently both are ahead of last year and have set sales records for several models.
I wouldn't buy no matter where it's built. Over pricing, unfixable, data stealing making the vehicles pieces of garbage and undesirable
All automakers should be ashamed of themselves for the prices they’re asking for vehicles!
What incentive could I possibly have for replacing it?
if you live in rustbelt you should’ve rust proofed aka "oil sprayed" your vehicle and that would have saved you 2000 in bodywork
Dang - they better start adjusting prices.
It’s crazy, yesterday I was looking to purchase a truck, got approved for a 2025 F150 STX (4x4) and they came back to me with a monthly payment of $1149. I walked out 😂 I’m just gonna wait it out a bit
Yeah I hate that car payments over $1000+ have been normalized… ridiculous
Imagine having the world's best selling work van and just tossing it away. The Transit EV has a 100 mile range unloaded.
I was at my local Ford and Toyota dealerships the other day and there were barely any new vehicles at either.
well done video. keep up the good work.
Excellent intelligent market analysis
Most dealerships get floor plan cost assistance and don't spend that much.
Shhhhhhhhh its easier to rage bait people without the facts
I have a question, did prices come down on the cars that where built in Mexico with cheap labor paid? All it did was give the auto makers building cars in Mexico more profit for them not lower prices for Us. I think Toyota and other brands even raised thier prices more so thats fine they can charge them tarrifs they will just have to lower thier prices and make less money and that goes for tarrifs on China products and its our choice to buy them or not.
The savings incurred from offshoring is almost never passed onto the consumer.
You got it wrong, supply doesn’t outweigh demand, manufacturers decided higher prices over production.
The government is also killing the market. The push for ev vehicles so in return manufacturers can still make vehicles people want.
WOW
Couldn't happen to a more deserving company----Corporate greed back in their faces !!!!
Can’t say I feel for them either 👌
New from a local San Diego dealership, I paid $45k for my F150 Lariat with 5.0 V8, FX4, Technology and Sport package (negotiated a $10k discount). I cannot bring myself to paying $75-$80k for its replacement. Ford has treated me like crap during the time I’ve owned it so it’s good to see them hurting right now.
You are right, the dealers shot themselves in the foot by abusing customers, one of the worst that abused the most was toyota, I don't know what they were thinking with all this.
Awesome video my man!
Good presentation of present situation not only with the automotive but points made on general economics we're dealing with - Good Job
Saying no to the inflated prices. Keeping my current super duty for another 100k miles
Just kept repeating himself.
Ive owned several Fords.....everyone a nightmare.
I cannot believe they didn't destroy themselves years ag
Referring to Ford in particular, not only did they over-produce cars and trucks they can't sell, they made their customers wait for many months between the deposit and the delivery when these same cars and trucks were first released. Then, on top of that, these same customers were given a vehicle loaded with problems. Why Farley still has a job there is beyond me.
Finally someone who understands that tariffs are essentially a tax, that the consumer is going to have to pay.
Excellent take on the current market. Can you give an assessment on the new Ram RHO and approximate potential prices for lightly used RGOs with 5-10k miles a year from now?
Does anyone else have kids or just untamed ? He seems to complain a lot.
Love my bronco, I’m a Toyota guy but it just ticked all the boxes and drives great.
Great job, just facts and educated opinions, no BS. Thanks
It’s not that supply has outpaced demand, it’s that no one is willing to pay these high prices including commercial customers
I’m 60 years old, upper-middle class. I’ve owned or leased a lot of cars. I’m kinda stuck on Toyota for life. I’ve heard Honda is good, too.
Not the 1.5 turbo with head gasket issues
Not any more, unfortunately. Their quality has dropped considerably. They've stopped selling in some countries because of very poor sales.
Toyota quality is in the shitter now. They are almost no different than Ford, GM, ect...
I am shocked… cars at a car dealership. If I had a dollar for every this is the end video I could afford a used car. I will believe it when the prices collapse back to closer to pre pandemic you know folks are no longer cashing government checks and prices need to reflect that
How about the day to day economy and for the most part higher interest rates ! Maybe that’s the big issue
I saw a guy walking thru a dealership like you and showed a 22 model Ram still on the lot. Not used, new!
You have a very good delivery and smart.
Just went to the ford dealer today! They were full but not overflowing (unlike Stellantis dealer Nextdoor). GIANT Lexus dealer had like 15 new cars instead of 4,000 like Jeep/Ram.
An Expedition Altitude I looked at was discounted $8,000 before haggling
A man who tells the truth !
No normal person would ever want a so-called "Mustang" Mach-E anyway. They are a disgrace to the name.
This is a serious and somber video but why am I so happy?
This is what they get for asking 15 k over msrp for a raptor ranger. I laughed all the way out.
Planned obsolescence. That’s while I’ll never buy another ford newer than 2005 or so
