The interesting thing is the headband is a misconception of sorts. Headband in the context of the language it was written isn't what we in the west would consider a headband, but rather it refers more to a sort of hair tie, and the sentences don't translate perfectly. Essentially in the books Geralt uses a scrap of leather to tie his hair up for a particularly messy fight.

The original is 'skórzana opaska' which can be properly translated as leather headband. Hair tie would be 'gumka do włosów'
