- Laura’s focus and passion has been breeding Dwarf Cuttlefish (Sepia bandensis,) which are now being distributed through retailers across the country. Laura has successfully bred four generations of these cuttlefish with 15 dedicated cuttle propagation tanks all on a 20,000 gallon reef “sump.” She eagerly looks forward to future cephalopod breeding opportunities with bobtail squid, flamboyant cuttlefish, and more!

This is amazing. She's so down to earth and realistic. I wish I could ask her a million questions. So informative but now I need more information lol
good work! this is a very good presentation. exactly what I was looking for. any tips on tank mates? im guessing the obvious answer is get non aggressive fish that are too big to be eaten. But maybe cuttles don't play well with anything. IDK. thanks
Why is the video not available?
Would love to hear this talk....
My flash player is updated. Don't you think it's odd it only has 12 likes... The video has an issue probably in TH-cam id take it down and reload.
That would make sense. But I'm in California. Tried from my work computer and home laptop. No luck.
Only reason I'm requesting is I really want to add a 60 gallon cuddle fish tank to my new system
Still not working?
Think it's my account?
no sound =(((((((
Still not fixed
How sad, I can't believe they let her do that. Did you know that cuttlefish don't live more than six months by the time they're ready to go to display? There's so much I can say about this topic since I know about the work that Monterey Bay Aquarium is doing with cuttlefish.
Hi! I completely understand your concern and I don’t support the collection of sale of wild cuttlefish for private aquariums, only for breeding facilities. My talk focuses on how to keep and breed *captive bred* cuttles. Most dwarf cuttles do have a ~1 year full natural lifespan, that’s just their biology. I wish my objection to wild collected cuttlefish was more clear in this lecture. Thanks for the note!
@@LauraBirenbaum To me it came across clear enough, as it's a lecture for people who already know a bit about the hobby and the business - doesn't seem like it should need a bigger disclaimer than that (but maybe a sentence in the video's description wouldn't hurt?).
Anyway, amazing lecture, saw it first here on youtube about two years back, and got inspired to evolve my aquarium-hobby slowly to the point where I would be suited to get an egg-bundle and raise a group in a 40-80g tank when I have corals that thrive (still some years into the future.) Presently at breeding cichlids and wondering if I'm stepping on to discus, or jumping straight over to saltwater :-)
Very inspiring and informative!
Works on my wife phone go figure
