These Monterey Bay Aquarium episodes are absolutely astonishing. I have always had a fascination with cephalopods and with SciFri covering this topic it's a complete win. Thanks so much for the videos.
Wow you can tell this guy is passionates about this and he almost cried which nothing wrong with that. Great job man, doing what you love and provide exhibits to the public!
Boring? They literally can change into thousands of different patterns and colors. They also change their shapes into looking like different creatures. They are the most interesting creature.
AWESOME, GO 4 IT... octopuses, cuttlefish & seahorses are my favorite water animals... african wild dogs, tigers & black jaguars favorite land animals... # 1 are octopi !!!
Me: I need to carry on what I was doing TH-cam: Do you like cuttlefish? Me: I've seen enough of those TH-cam: But you like cuttlefish. Me: I like cuttlefish.
This is the smallest of the cuttlefish...and they are amazing creatures. The larger are remarkable as they flit and change their appearance. Neon is a word that applies to them in the purest sense. Sadly they do not live long. Love the information...I am learning! I am also sharing so others may understand the magnificence of our oceans and what marine life means to our planet and humans. Yes, I'm a scuba diver...
3:40 unique in the sense they can invert different waves of color camouflage while constantly moving. where an octopus can only produce a solid base of camouflage. the real trick would not being able to transmit any heat trail while moving and staying clothe. Good luck
+atam mardes your best bet may be to research your local laws about keeping them as pets, after that I would contact a few professional aquarists or sea aquariums to find a reliable source to buy your own after you've done extensive care research :)
yeah, the plant looks like sagitaria or vallisneria, a freshwater plant. but it must be plastic. ''There are more than 120 species of cuttlefish, and all of them live in the sea. You do not get freshwater cuttlefish.''
do not touch the flamboyant cuttles they are venomous if u see animal with bright red color it means its poisonous but ladybugs poison is not dangerous for humans only for very small animals
Omg guys I was in the Greek islands and I was snorkelling and I lifted up a rock and saw a cuttle fish it ca e up to me and it was shaped like a rock then it took the colour of the sand
very hard work. specialy for this flamboyan, cus they die after a year. female died after giving birt, male died after sex. but they are so cute. in my country, we have all type of them. including the walking cuttlefis who only live here
Wait, America doesn't have cuttlefish? Kinda feel sad for you guys, you don't get to see them hunting in the wild, or make friends with the wild cuttlefish

Those eyes are Hypnotoad eyes :D

It’s unbelievable that such an intelligent & fascinating animal only has such a short life. I would’ve thought they’d live longer in captivity.
think of all the trial and error that went into this.
lol
all the baby cuttlefish that died T-T
A 6 months to 2 yrs lifespan for any creature is just way too damn short :(
Even some insects and spiders have longer lifespans than that :(
Many tarantulas have lifespans longer than 20 years so it’s not even close😂
if you bought one when you wrote this comment it would be dead now :(
U would think the cuttlefish would be boring but the little guys are really interesting.I want to study cuttlefish and squids one day.😀
Why would you think that? I never have.
Boring? They literally can change into thousands of different patterns and colors. They also change their shapes into looking like different creatures. They are the most interesting creature.

real life Pokémon
That's like saying that animals are real life Pokemon. Pokemon are fictional creatures based off real animals, not the other way around.

why won't they let the mother just raise them until they hatch?
because once the mother has laid eggs, her life cycle ends, she dies quickly after.
