Saw the Raptor up close being put through its testing in Marietta GA in 2000... it came out of nowhere, vertical, less than 100 feet from my car! It was there and then it was gone... louder than thunder. We make good stuff here in the USA..
Are they staying long? We get Lakenheath F-15's Dog fighting over Lincolnshire all the time, always a pleasure to see (and hear) I'll be keeping my eye's peeled for these beauties....
2:57 Hey mate, if I look up the engine exhaust, wave your hand at the intake, I want to see if I can see it through all the fan blades!.....wave it more...yip I see it!
Heh, sure looks like it, although in reality you can't see the fan blades unless you crawl quite deeply *inside* the intake duct. The engines on the F-22 are quite thoroughly hidden from direct illumination by radar, as is the case with the F-35.
It doesn't even come close to the Spitfire. And that's coming from a fan of the Luftwaffe. Mustang- yes, this- nope. It has not seen any action. At least officially. When it catches up to it's granddad's fight record (Mustang) then we could talk. ;)
@@baginatora There would have to be a major war for that to happen. But in any case, the F-22 has seen some combat action, striking ground targets in Syria and other places in the Middle East. It has also "intercepted" (non-shooting incidents) numerous aircraft (mostly Russian).
@@matthewfenton9860well, if we ever be in a situation where we will have to use them we'll be glad they're available. Besides developping an advanced aircraft is always a good thing, it keeps the industry up and innovating
@@matthewfenton9860, you want a capable multirole? Use an F/A-18, or better yet a Rafale. The F35 doesn't have the A/A capacity of the F22 or the A/G ability of the before mentionned aircraft (even in non stealth max loadout mode). An F22/F35 bastard child should be burned at a stake to preserve the F22's purity haha That said; I like making fun of the F35 for various reasons but ofc it's an extremely high tech plane with a ton of potentiel, it just lacks charm.
Have they always been using drop tanks on the F22 I feel like I only started to see pictures of them with the tanks under their wings within the last couple years
im thefuckinglizardking Well they had to get them across the Atlantic so that’s why they’re on those particular ones but not sure if they’ve used them in the past.
Those tanks are only for ferrying, not for combat involving stealth. There is also a small Luneburg lens pod on its belly that strongly reflects radar in every direction, hiding the airframe's radar signature and making it easy to see on air traffic control radar. This pod is also removed when stealth is required, of course.
All the money spent on the typhoon, what a shameful wast of tax payers money. And given the price of fuel in the Uk this will proper be the only time they’ll be airborne.
The Conzo24 What I’m saying is that the procurement system within the MOD seems skewed towards the US.This is awful given the fact that the US practically destroyed the British aviation industry after WW2 and the business with Chinooks that couldn’t fly in bad weather because theMOD hadn’t specified the need for an all weather capability. The Buccaneer was the last of the all British warplanes why can’t we still make planes of that quality.
Fantastic jet, and happy it's here in the UK. I've booked two days off of work to go see them at LN.
such an awesome plane. i saw one do a demo a couple years ago in Rockford, IL with my dad. very cool maneuvers and that thing is LOUD.
Bloody marvelous!! =)
2:36 I love how they pull back on their sticks while turning so that they don't blast away the camera men 😂
SlavLegs great point 👍🏻
Such a sexy airframe!

Amazing aircraft!!!!
Love this plane
Starscream sounds like freedom.

US is good by itself, England good luck
THAT'S THE GOOD STUFF !!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
We are the best machine in the world....
Beautifull machine🔥
Pretty bad ass looking plane
May very well be the best thing man as ever created!
A weapon? Really?
I live right next Langley and saw them take off that day for the trip across the pond.

Greasing that runway. Love those birds
Raptor 💰😭😍😍😍 smart and lethal
Reminds me of old Gerry and Sylvia Anderson sci-fi shows with those hangers and the Raptors' obviously space age design.
That is definitely up there with the spitfire

Was it just 2 ?
Any one know how long they are at lakenheath for. Any info appreciated.
It's a beautiful warbird
My dream job 😊🇺🇸❤
Immense.
Time for some training flights in the North Atlantic eastern Europe.
What is raf
RAF is the "Royal Air Force" of the UK.
Flying out from Nevada
I like em better than the F-35's tbh
Because they are much better than F35s ;) The F22 is the plane we needed to gain air dominance, the f35 is an economic and R&D investment.
@@thomasbessis2809 shame they will never be used other than intercepting. Even the F-16 does this job.

Wow never seen external fuel tanks on a f22 before.
RevampedCloud long.range more than likely
Every fighter has a pretty limited range without external tanks.

Fantistic airplane ...... The best iron bird!!!!
Sounds like a bunch of Indians about to attack at 3:07
Flying nightly over all Russian and Chinese Cities , no radar and heat signature .....

Aside form russian americans trolls. Isn't this queen balanced and beautiful ?
I don’t like the fuel tanks they look bad
They needed them for the ferry range.
Not much you can do about that
Stealth and fuel tanks lol

Erik Good Are you suggesting the UK should’ve bought the F-22? You know, the fighter which has an export ban and would’ve cost far more anyway.
